The one thing about him though that I'll always remember about his reviews is that while he did have negative ones, he was mostly a positive guy and liked a lot of things.

His name was always mentioned in studio advertisements on TV for movies. They always used his name when a studio couldn't get any other bigger name reviewers that liked their movie. :)

I'll miss your reviews Joel.

:crying: I am not a frequent 'GMA' viewer, but I always liked Joel Siegel for some reason. I'm not really even sure why. Maybe just hearing his name on a movie commercial meant something to me, perhaps it was reassuring in some way. I'm saddened that won't happen anymore.

Definitely watch the ABC Nightly News piece in the article Clown Prince linked to. It's heartfelt, well-done and made me miss this special human being a bit more.

I didn't like him after his shenanigans at the Clerks 2 screening, but he was man enough to confront Kevin Smith about it on Opie & Anthony. Too bad for his family.

May he rest in Peace. If I'm not mistaken,he used to be working with Ebert and Roeper sometimes.

Wow, that's really surprising.

And yes, I was a little peeved at him for the whole Clerks 2 thing as well, but he always had something nice to say even about crappy movies. I doubt anybody will be able to take that place.

Never saw a movie he didn't like...
Not only that, he reviewed them all the same way: by making a sweeping hand gesture with both arms while repeatedly saying "GREAT film, GREAT film, GREAT film, GREAT film, GREAT film...."

That's why Siegel was quoted on so many movie posters--he was easy to get a quote from.
