http://www.adultswim.com/schedule/index.html

Some of this was mentioned on a bump from Sunday, but I'll put it all down anyways.

Saturdays
Astro Boy (which series has yet to be determined) will take the 2 a.m. slot on July 14th, and therefore end the 5 a.m. hour dedicated to older AS classics.
Besides for a few other minor Futurama episode switches, Saturday stays the same.

Sundays
The Robot Chicken Star Wars special replaces Family Guy this Sunday, July 1st.
Lucy, Daughter of the Devil has been delayed and will now begin its run on September 9th at 12:15. Metalocalypse will instead get a rerun slot at 11:45 starting July 29th.
Season 2 of Frisky Dingo has been delayed by a week and will instead premiere at August 26th at 12:00 (a half hour earlier than before).
Venture Bros. now gets to keep its slot at 12:30 for the rest of the summer.
On July 29th, The Oblongs return at 1:00 and the 1:30 half hour becomes Tim and Eric's, with Tim and Eric Awesome Show at 1:30 and Tom Goes to the Mayor at 1:45.

All the schedule changes are for the better(Except No Voltron and the change on Sundays 1-2AM hour..)

Thank God Frisky Dingo gets some respect and gets a better slot..

It's definetley the old Astro Boy. The 80's one is too serious, and Sony won't throw the 2003 one to a 5:30 block, butchered and all.

Hmm, I was thinking [as] would have something in store for after the Futurama marathon, but I guess nothing yet.

Woo for Frisky being bumped up to midnight.

I wonder if Inuyasha will begin another run when it ends the following week. I guess that depends on ratings.

Old Astro Boy makes as much sense as Old Gigantor. As being something pretty weird but at least something different and another reason to those who actually stay up that late and watch AS to enjoy something they haven't seen for quite awhile if at all. The other scheduling dosen't seem to surprising (though I am a bit bummed on Lucy getting delyaed. Oh well hopefully this means they'll play the epiosde 1 pilot when they do start airing it like they didnt' show them doing on the schedule).

Well only thing I care about is Bebop coming back at 12:30 weeknights and Blood+'s weeknight slot.

Well I've always wanted to see the original Astroboy and they never played it on TV when I was a kid, nor any local videostore carried the tape releases. I don't think it's been played on TV anywhere since probably the 1980s.

Actually, the original 60's series was taken out of syndication in the late 60's or early 70's.

The version that played in syndication during the 80's was the second, more serious, series.

I don't see why Lucy getting delayed would surprise anyone. The show has been delayed so many times that I just don't even care if it gets delayed anymore.

It looks like a pretty good schedule coming up. I'm still excited that now there's actual good shows on Friday nights. I wish Cowboy Bebop replaced FMA sooner though, instead of September 17th, because I haven't seen it for quite a while.:p

Geez, what's with all the comedy delays?

The fall isn't the only time most of these seasons can start.

Remember last year when AS had 8 or 9 premieres per week? They want to do that again this year; that's why they're holding back.

Aghhhh. On the weekday lineup they need to get rid of Inuyasha! I'm getting tired of seeing it. Bring back Full Metal and S-Cry-ed at least.

And what is the reason for the delay?

IMPO, old school anime like Astro Boy & Gigantor do not belong on Adult Swim that early in the morning. They deserve a more pristine slot on the schedule, and out of Adult Swim. I'd rather they were on Boomerang if the programming dorks at CN won't move them into the primary schedule.

There's your answer.

Well, a lot more people get CN than Boomerang. If it wasn't for Adult Swim, I wouldn't be able to see any of these old-school shows, so I'm fine with them doing it. Besides, Boomerang isn't too big on anime. I believe the only anime to ever air on Boomerang was Pokemon.

No, Battle of the Planets(a.k.a Gatchaman) aired on Boomerang a couple years back. Unfortunately, it didn't do well and it got yanked off the network. Ace Goodheart is still mourning to this day.

On the schedule posted on AS's site, there is a hand-written note that Astroboy is a "new old anime" which could be a possible indicator that it's the 1963 version.

Wait, do ANY shows get good ratings on Boomerang? I find it kind of odd that they'd yank something for bad ratings, considering no one even gets their channel, aside from a few people with DirecTV.

Well shoot. I was hoping for the 80's version although I'm sure everyone saw the 60's one being aired.

I guess all they need to air now is 8 Man.

Well... the 80s version could be classified as "old anime" too... I'm 95% sure it's the 60s series, but... I guess the 80s series is possible.

Blasphemy. I barely if at all care for "Battle of the Planets". If anything it's a source of frustration for me as people old and new alike constantly confuse it with "G-Force", it's successor dub. And when all the dust has settled "G-Force" is almost always at the receiving end, lambasted and uncredited despite it's upsides over BotP. Hopefully with my Wikipedia article I can put an end to any confusion that still remains and somehow carve a niche for "G-Force" in the internet:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-Force:_Guardians_of_Space

It might seem petty to actively pursue and document "G-Force" when ADV's Gatchaman release wrapped up ages ago, but.........just think how some people prefer Streamline Akira over the glossier, remastered Pioneer/Geneon Akira. Yeah, that's my situation.

Anyways, BotP was supposed to and should've been a BIG coup for Boomerang regardless of it's quality, but it's stint on Boomerang supposedly was a limted-time deal from the beginning, as Sandy Frank Entertainment's (owners of both BotP & G-Force) contract with Turner was for only six months and 24 out of 85 episodes (they only aired 20 on Boomerang). Subsequently the show jumped to ADV's Anime Network and Boomerang went through a horrible downward spiral in quality and scheduling that it's only recently begun to recover from. It's unfortunate how Boomerang has continued to falter after more than seven years on the air....

Back on topic, so AS has acquired the first U.S anime have they??? I wonder if "Kimba the White Lion" or "Speed Racer" are being eyed at for the future. Still, while classic anime like "Astro Boy", Gigantor, Kimba, Speed Racer and Voltron may have nice, convenient DVD boxsets and whatnot............deep down I still wish for AS to acquire "G-Force" and air it on their new graveyard slot. "G-Force" doesn't look like it'll ever receive a full home video release, EVER, and broadcast TV is the only form anyone will ever see it in it's entirety again save for stealing the masters from Sandy Frank. Someone........anyone air it, please? :crying:

See what you made me do Mugen? I now went out of my way to meticulously type this long rant. I'll go back to lurking and sticking at my old stomping grounds...........:D

I hope it's the AstroBoy from 1963. I haven't seen that cartoon since...forever!

Will they be showing episodes from it on the adultswim.com website? I still don't have my cable back on yet...

Fits right in with old Gigantor.

That said, of the versions legally available in America, the 1980's Astro Boy is the best. Its plot is more serious, and its edits much lighter than the other two.

If they ever bring in "G-Force" then AS will only be continuing the Fred Ladd gravy train, as he was the man behind the Astro Boy, Gigantor, Kimba and G-Force dubs (despite Kimba not being in AS.......yet). :)

...............Oh look I'm so smart now!!! Back to lurking I guess........
