Transformers (If I do see that, I'm making sure I wear one of my Transformers t-shirts to it)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (I think I might want to wait out the DVD though)
The Simpsons Movie
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Okay yeah, not much of a list I know. At least I'll be saving a lot of money by not seeing that many movies this year though. Anyway I might just end up buying the first two. The latter two, however, I'd rather just rent them.

I'd say I'm most looking forward to:
Transformers
30 Days of Night
3:10 to Yuma
And then, after that, I'd name
Harry Potter
Bourne Ultimatum
Halloween
There's other stuff I'm kinda curious about, like "Across the Universe", but the above listed are what most have my interest right now. Most immediately, I'm incredibly excited about "Transformers". After that, I'm really hoping "30 Days of Night" delivers. I haven't read any of 'em, but I'm a fan of vampire movies and have been disappointed by most I've seen. I'm hoping this'll be different. And I liked the trailer for "3:10". I'm a fan of both Crowe and Bale, so it'll be great to see them on screen together, and I do like westerns. Haven't seen the original, but the premise sounds great.

I'm glad to see there is a few others that are interested in 'Across the Universe'. Also glad to see someone else looking forward to 30 Days of Night. I on the other hand have read the comics. From the trailer it seems to be sticking pretty close to the original story (of course same permise) but I'm sure will vary alittle. I'd say if you enjoy the movie then you should try to check out the 30 Days of Night graphic novel and see how the story really goes. The art isn't everyone's cup of tea but it fits the dark story. Also there is another comic that is a sequel to 30 Days of Night made by the same people (Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith) that made 30 DoN and it's called Dark Days and pretty much picks up after the events 30 Days of Night and ties up some loose ends and has one heck of a big twist ending. I really hope the movie does well and Dark Days can be made into a movie as well, it could easily be made into a great sequel.
I'm also interested in 3:10 to Yuma mainly because I'm a big Christian Bale fan and also think Russel Crowe is a good actor, and should be interesting to see him as the bad guy. Also being set in a western type movie has me intrigued, if you haven't seen The Proposition, it's a great western type movie staring Guy Pearce.
I have to say I'm not one to keep up with movies, but out of all the movies mentioned thus far, Transformers and Bee Movie are the only ones that slightly interest me.

Thanks for the info, Cog. I haven't bought any comics in a while, and rarely read any now, so at this point almost all of my comic exposure is via movie adaptations and animation. I'm not sure when or if I'll ever get around to reading 30 DoN, but I've heard great things about it, so I'm just hoping the movie does it justice so that I can experience some of it. With vampire movies, I usually hope for something atmospheric and suspenseful (rather than pure action). Hopefully my expectations aren't misplaced.

Haven't seen Proposition, but I'll keep it mind next time I'm looking to rent something. And I'm also more of a fan of Bale than Crowe, though I do greatly respect the latter's talent. He always seems to deliver.

You know, it astounds me how many movies some of you people watch. A lot of these lists are more movies than I'll see in a whole year, and this year is actually a big year for me, too. (I've already seen Spidey and Pirates, plan to see FF and Ratatouille, and I'll catch ATHF and TMNT on DVD)
Guess I just don't get it. I usually find most movies, aside from a select few, to be forgettable at best. Certainly not worth $8 for admission plus $5-10 on concessions.

I can't speak for others, but with my list, these are movies I'm interested in seeing. Doesn't necessarily mean I will see them in the theater. Transformers I'll be seeing for certain. But with all the others, reviews will be play a role, as will how busy I am and just how I'm feeling at the time.

Guess I just don't get it. I usually find most movies, aside from a select few, to be forgettable at best. Certainly not worth $8 for admission plus $5-10 on concessions. Some people LOVE going to the movies. I for one, absolutely enjoy watching a movie in the theater - whether it's good or bad. Just to be enjoying that moment with other people, there's something fantastic about it that I simply enjoy more then most anything else. It's certainly worth the $8 bucks for me - that's a bit over an hour of minimum wage work for almost two hours of escapism.
Too many to list. I spend at least once a week at the local movie cinema. There's nothing more enjoyable to me than sitting in a dark, crowded movie theater and watching a good film.

I agree; even if the movie is horrendous, there's a certain thrill to a social event; going with friends, chatting with people afterwards, whatever it may be.

Yeah, I suppose that's true. Often I just wind up going to the movies alone, or with my family. That's just not much fun, imho.

Spiderman 3- was meh.. too much love story, emo Peter, and not enough Venom
Pirates 3- the pacing of the movie was horrible!!! why bring Calypso and let her do nothing of significance, also it would have been nice to see the British armada attack the pirates rather than retreat, also Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) wasn't utilized as best as he could be
Shrek 3- A funny film and I was thouroughly entertained. I felt it was kind of too short though. I would have liked another 30 minutes or so. A good movie for anyone who is a fan of Shrek films.
Fantastic Four 2- A good follow-up & conclusion to the first film, but I don't see it as being anything more than this.
Ocean's 13- A great awesome film. It was worth the price of the ticket. I was very entertained throughout the film. Fantastic story, characters, and pacing.
Ratatouille- A very good story and you feel for the little chief and his struggles to make a difference in the world and to help out his clan/family.
So far the best film I've seen this year is Grindhouse by a mile.
Here's hoping that the Simpson, Transformers, and Rush Hour 3 meet or exceed my expectations.

I am one of those people. I love going to the movies and I love renting movies. It's really fun to go to a big movie opening night with a few people, the crowds really get into the movie opening night because it usually consist of the people who have been looking forward to the movie and will more then likely enjoy it the most. Some people really enjoy going shopping, going to play golf, bowl, pool ect. but for me it's seeing a movie. Just like you said it's worth the hours of escapism, it's worth the money to be pulled into another world for a couple hours.
I forgot about Be Kind, Rewind coming out. I think it's going to be out in 2008 though. If not I will more then likely being seeing that as well, I hope it's better then Science of Sleep, which wasn't horrible but easily could have been a much better movie by Michel Gondry.

Certainly Harry Potter. Though sometime flawed, Ridley Scott is always enough of an artist to make me want to give American Gangster a look; at the very least, it will be visually stunning. The mere existance of Superbad makes me question my faith in humanity. I'd say The Golden Compass, but I'm ambivient about Weitz (and really, until they let Peter Jackson's ass back in the director's chair for The Hobbit, I'm more than a little unhappy with New Line).

I have heard rumbling about Beowulf and finally seen footage of it and I have to say it really has me interested! I seen the 'R' rated trailer and it looks wonderful and the CGI work is amazing! If you haven't seen any trailers then check it out (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=10851)! That Beowulf trailer looks awesome, took a second to adjust to the look feel, but wow, just visually stunning. Zemeckis directed it, you know its going sweet.
Stardust is getting all kinds of good reviews, I'm getting excited for it. Here's one review, there's a few on AICN- http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30866

Wow. How did I miss the buzz on Beowulf? Some English Major I am; must get my ass to the library and read that. I'm not the biggest Zemeckis fan, but I'm VERY intrigued by the idea of Neil Gaiman working on a screenplay.

Is this the new Burton/Depp collaboration? 'Cause I'd totally be on board with that.

Yeah the Sweeney Todd poster is really cool looking.
Hanshotfirst113- "Not the biggest Zemeckis fan"??!!, SHAME ON YOU- Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away!!! Beowulf is going to be nuts.
The more I see/ read on Stardust the more I get a Lord of The Rings type of vibe: a cast of all star actors, killer fantasy adventure, written by an amazing author (Gaiman) ;)

I've never been big on Forrest Gump or Cast Away except in certain moods; my sugary sentimentaliy has limits, though I find such types of films work better in groups. Love Back to the Future though:D. On the other had, though I worry about stuido interferance, I'm immensely intrigued by the idea of Gaiman working on a screenplay, especially one in which the mythology can be as intricate as this.

Just saw the trailer for 3:10 to Yuma; gotta say, I'm intrigued. It's always interesting when a new Western hits the screen; they're so rare these days. The original is such a fantastic little film that I just can't see this topping it, but the trailer doesn't look quite like a blaring Hollywood ear-ringer (In spite of its efforts), but on the whole, a quieter film, which is what a movie like this should be. I'm still on the fence, but Crowe and Bale both look fantastic in their roles, rugged and gruff and totally comitted, and it'll be a thrill to see them play off of each other. If they can capture the quiet intensity of Gary Cooper or the gruff action of Anthony Mann in a conemporary fil even half as well as the legends did in their prime, it'll be a welcome breath of fresh air.

3:10 to Yuma, I really like the looks of it and I love old westerns, and do not generally like remakes at all. Bale is the man, as a matter of opinion I think he is an overall better actor than Crowe, which I think many would debate. Just in IMHO.
Saw the TV spot for Stardust last night. It was the first TV trailer I can remember seeing in a while that I was excited for. I feel like most on tv are laughable, only see good ones in the theater. I dug this up this on Stardust. Very good sign. Gaiman can do no wrong in my book. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486655/board/flat/77894266?p=1

Argento is FINALLY finishing his trilogy huh? Only took what, three decades :p?

I think that they're both brilliant actors and I'm very interested in seeing them play off of each other. So far, 3:10 looks surprisingly interesting to me; whether Magnold can deliver on this promise I have no idea, but I sense ambition, which I admire intensely.

Perhaps, but I wonder if the Hollywood studio system will take well to his idiosyncratic work and not...alter it. All the same, I'm interested.

Gaiman wouldn't let himself be part of a lackluster production, which I trust entails sticking to his guns and helping those involved understand & obey the idiosyncratic nature if his work. Also, the Stardust set pictures and stills I've seen are just incredible. Seems to have the positive elements of Harry Potter & Princess Bride. SWEET!

For me, the number one movie to see this year is Saw IV, I've seen the clip from Comic Con and I'm definately even more excited about the film.
