...brown like the Superfriends cartoon or grey like the comic?

My query is, will the JL version have those mutton-chop sideburns? And who will voice him? I'm thinking James Avery or Jim Cummings would give a good turn...very heavy, deep, angry-sounding voices....

James Avery and Jim Cummings would be good choices, except neither one is playing Grodd. Grodd is being voiced by Powers Booth.

I want to know if he'll be called GRODD, or use that insulting term, GORILLA GRODD. Like we can't SEE he's a GORILLA! I hope to god he's just called Grodd.

He's a Gorilla with the amazing ability to talk.

Anarky,

Grodd is from a secret city of gorillas called GORILLA CITY. No one knows about it, except the Justice League and The Flash. The gorillas from Gorilla City are quite advanced, and peace-loving. Except for Grodd, who HATES people for some reason. He is totally evil, and has clashed with The Flash on numerous occasions.

He also possesses telepathic/telekinetic abilities called his "Force of Mind" powers. Plus he's a big monkey.

Hmmmm... sounds... quite intimidating. Scary even. I know if a big Gorilla, grey or brown, came up to me and asked me if I had any Grey poupon, I'd wet my pants....

LOL@ Borg4of3! I think Grodd is going to be a very interesting villain for the JL to deal with. Can't wait to see this episode.

Howdy,

I think Grodd is the Bad Gorilla of Gorilla City, who is constantly trying to conquer it. I think he views conquering humanity as a bass-ackwards way of accomplishing that goal. He was a classic Silver Age Flash villian, who existed mostly because lots of them Silver Age guys thought gorillas were cool.

In addition to the powers others have mentioned, Grodd is also stronger than the average gorilla; a recent issue of The Flash showed Grodd picking up a VW bug and throwing it clean through a 5th story window. I think most gorillas of Gorilla City have limited telepathic/telekinetic powers.

The only other thing I remember is that the rightful ruler of GC is King Solovar, who is a friend of the Flash and the Justice League.

Sweet! I've been trying to research him for the past few minutes on what little resources I have and he does actually seem kinda cool now. :) As one source put it, "Grodd is a simian Doctor Doom.... He boasts super-strength, super intellegence, super "force of mind" powers, super stank breath, and a super-ego to boot!" Doesn't seem to be in the leagues with Joker, Luthor, and Grundy, but I think his place is justified

Howdy,

http://www.hyperborea.org/flash/grodd.html

More about Gorilla Grodd than you ever wanted to know, and more accurate than anything I can come up with off the top of my head. The site provides lots of info about the Flash and the various people who have appeared in it over the years. Google.com is so cool.

Through my Google search, I also found http://members.tripod.com/~MitchellBrown/xover/dc_jlape.html, which details JLApe: Gorilla Warfare, a recent JLA crossover event where Grodd played a prominent part. And the entire JLA gets turned into gorillas.

No, really.

I must find these books. Now. And BT & co MUST do this next season.

I thought Grodd wasn't going to be on, JL yet. I thought we were getting the Ultra-Humanite.

Oop - He's not going to be in the Injustice Gang (as I actually thought), but in The Brave and the Bold against Flash and GL.

In the paper/rock/scissors knock-off entitled "man/gun/gorilla", gorilla beats man. So treat Grodd with some respect, y'hear?
