The End of "In Blackest Night?"

I just watched this one again. Maybe I don't understand how GL's ring works, but can someone explain the ending to me? The head manhunter gets all big and green, one of the little guardian fellas says "All is lost" and passes out, the GL says his nifty, rhyming recharge-the-ring chant, and all is well. Huh?

My guess was that since GL says the oath to recharge the ring from his battery he used a similar process to absorb the Manhunter's energy. The MH had just sucked up all the Cosmic Battery's energy so GL absorbed energy from the "Manhunter Battery" instead of his latern.

My guess is that when the head Manhunter entered the main power battery and absorbed all of the Green Lantern energy, he actually became pure GL energy (he says "I AM the power!"). So John Stewart decides to charge up his ring with the energy now in the form of the head Manhunter. Manhunter goes ka-blooey. The chant was just to let everybody know that he was charging up his ring.

I think that the solution could have been explained to the other characters so that any viewer who is not a comic book fan in general or a Green Lantern fan specifically, would have been more clued in.
