OK, Sci-Fi is going to start airing the third season of Doctor Who this July. BBC America is going to be airing Torchwood this September.

Now, while I have yet to see either (living in the US), I do know that the first season of Torchwood takes place before the third season of Doctor Who, and that the finale of Torchwood deals with the Doctor's hand being cut off in the 2nd season premiere.

Now, it's pretty likely that Sci-Fi will air the Doctor Who episodes where Captain Jack returns before BBC finishes airing Torchwood (this is assuming the Jack episodes aren't shown during the summer, before Torchwood even starts).

If I watched the episode of Doctor Who w/Captain Jack before I saw Torchwood, do you think I would still be able to enjoy it? Does the episode involve information seen in Torchwood, or spoil important events that were revealed in Torchwood? Should I just save the Doctor Who episodes on the DVR and wait until I'm all caught up with Torchwood?

Torchwood is alluded to in the plotline of "The Sound of Drums" but mostly ignored currently.

Also don't watch Torchwood. Its awful.

If anything, Torchwood will just illustrate why he misses the Doctor. In the meantime he's stuck babysitting some oversexed maniacs who use secret technology to get more sex.

This is all you really need to see- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5TyTlUz4eA
