The question is simple, really. Back in the 16-bit days, did you prefer SNES...

...Mega Drive...

...or the Turbografx?

Super Nintendo is what I owned, Genesis I didn't own until the 2000s, and TurboGrafx-16 never really hit big in America, so I didn't have much chance to play it.

Heh... "Mega Drive". Kooky Japanese console names...

I didn't even know what TG16 was back then. I owned a SNES and loved it though I always wanted a Genesis mainly for Sonic. As I look back now I am glad I had a SNES since I see it as a way superior system now.

Genesis. We didn't give a crap about fancy dancy graphics and sound at my place. The games were the key.

Genesis no contest.

Sonic, Sub-Terrania, Ecco the Dolphin, and the awesome sports games such as RBI Baseball. A good chunk of my childhood was spent in front of the tv playing that thing.

The SNES was my first system, so it has a place in my heart, DONKEY KONG COUNTRY!!!!

I still dont own a Genesis yet, and ive never touched a TG16...

Probably the Genesis/Mega Drive. I still have vague memories of playing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on it.

I was also clueless as to what the TG16 was (I did know of some of the games, mainly through gaming magazines), until maybe a year ago.

I'll have to go with the SNES on this one though. Spent quite a bit more time playing that than my Genesis (which also got considerable play time, but not as much).

SNES, hands down. It had a lot more games worth playing, better sound, better graphics. It was the better console.

I got all the Genesis fill I needed at my babysitter's house back in the day, as they had a Genesis. Had a blast playing Sonic, mainly Sonic 2.

As for the Turbografx... I didn't even know the thing existed, I don't think.

My favorite 16-bit console would have to be the SNES, even though Sonic, who was on the Genesis, was the one to get me interested in video games.

Might as well add my opinion into the fray...

I owned both the Turbografx and the SNES. I loved them both. Turbografx had Bonk's Adventure, Fighting Street and Vigilante - all super-great games. The SNES had Super Mario World, F-Zero and a superb port of Frogger. I can't decide between the two!

I owned both the Genesis and SNES nearly from the beginning, and loved them both, but the SNES' game library has definitely held up much better over time.

I still have my SNES and Genesis, but preferred Genesis a lot more. Never had a Turbografx though.

SNES no question.

I owned an SNES, and I still play it and consider it one of the finest consoles ever, with it's great library of games.

Genesis, I played at my friend's house. It was good, but I liked the SNES games better.

Didn't even know what TG was until a couple of years ago. :\

TG16 isn't really 16 -bit regardless of what the marketing said, but for the sake of the argument I would definitely go with SNES, but I played the other two actively as well. SNES just had better ports of SF2, but I owned SCE for Genesis too.

Sega Genesis was the only one I owned. So of course that one. It had sonic, bubsy and pacman. :zoidberg:

I owned both the Genesis and the SNES and loved the SNES more, and ironically all of my friends owned Genesis' only despite my hype. I was the only one who had the SNES. Which is fine with me, cause I'm still finding new games for it I never played before.

SNES, no question.

SNES, though I liked Genesis too.

I stuck with the Genesis since 1991, until I got the PS1 in 1996.

Nintendo Fanboy. Snes. Considering I can get the games of all system on the Wii, though, the question seems moot at this point.

SNES was my first console, and I don't recall playing the others listed here. I think I played on the Genesis, it's been so long.
But I prefer SNES.

Both the Genesis and SNES had some great games, but I have to go with SNES. While the SNES certainly had a slower CPU than the Genesis, it wasn't like every game suffered from crippling slowdown, so I won't hold that against it. I had a ton of fun playing games for it back in the day, and there are still plenty that are enjoyable today, including one of my all-time favorite games, Super Mario World.

I haven't played enough of Turbo Grafx 16 to really make an accurate judgment of where that lies.

Sega Genesis.

For whatever reason, as much as I loved my NES for all those years, I had no interest in the SNES and favored the Genesis. And I don't think I even remember the Turbografx.

Both Sega Genesis and SNES. I would say SNES because of 2 games: A Link to the Past and Chrono Trigger.

I never owned a Turbografx but I'm planning to support it through the virtual console of Wii.

IMO, SNES by far. That was the one system where I had fun with pretty much every game I played. From games like Super Mario Kart to Link to the Past to the Ken Griffey Jr. baseball game, I had hours of fun with it on both single and multiplayer.

Does it have to be only one choice?

I have to go with the Super NES. It just had more games that I enjoyed, such as Super Mario World, Super Metroid and the Donkey Kong Country series.

Of coarse, the Genesis also had games I really enjoyed, enspecially Dynamite Headdy.

I can't really judge the TG16, as I've only played two games (which I got off of the Wii Virtual Consle).

SNES hands down. :D

S-N-E-S is how you spell SUCCESS!

The funny thing is....WAAAYYY....back in the day when I was ready to buy my first system, I was looking over my choices, and I actually considered A Turbograffix 16 pretty heavily. I decided to get an NES, and I've been a Nintendo fan since.

I have a LOT of found memories with my SNES. It's part of the reason I have such a deep love for old school games, and old series.

Oh, and British Geezer, I dig how you put up a picture of the Super Famicon.

There's not much contest since my very first console relationship started with the SNES , and it stuck that way. Until I happened to be the one that broke the machine. But alas , I still got my games: Donkey Kong Country , Tetris Attack , Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World , Super Caesar's Palace , Legend Of Zelda: A Link In The Past , Yoshi's Cookies , and Tetris 2.

So I pretty much choose SNES. As said , without a contest.

I love it now. I mean, now I can read about them on virtual turbo and download them through the VC.

I own more TG-16 games for the VC than any other console. It really is underrated.

Oh, and British Geezer, I dig how you put up a picture of the Super Famicon.

How come the Super Famicon has those colorful buttons on the controllers and we got those lame purple buttons for the SNES?
