Problem in B:MOTP (spoilers for those who haven't seen it)

During the police chase after Batman fights Phantasm, the Batwing lands on a rooftop. When the chopper catches up with Bats, the Batwing is surrounded by police, and they are trying to pry it open. After the whole chase sequence, Bruce is in Andrea Beaumont's car as a getaway and leaves the Batwing behind. Whatever happened to it? Did he "Auto-Pilot" it home from the Batcave? I don't think so. Perhaps the police apprehended it and took it by helicopter to a holding facility. Any thoughts?

I'm sure Batman thought of this. It's probably programmed to return home after a certain amount of time.

Plus I'm pretty sure Bats could sneak into whatever impound lot they were holding the Batwing in and just fly it out himself.

Another question would be if the cops could actually get the cockpit open. Somehow I wouldn't think you could just pry it open with a crowbar.

I don't think they ever explicitly addressed this issue in the movie because the cops were powerless to do anything at all to it.

They could still move it. And it must've taken a while for the police to realize that Batman wasn't responsible for the gangsters' deaths--it was the Phantasm. But I'm sure Commissioner Gordon sorted things out with Bats and straightened the matter out to the public.

I suspect that since Gordan never believed for a moment that Batman was committing the murders he just waited until things calmed down then "accidentally" left the gate to the impound yard unlocked. ;)

Or Bullock got board one day, took it out for a spin and promptly crashed it into the nearest building. So Batman just bought/built another. :p




On a side note: is it really necessary to post spoiler warnings on something that's been out for almost ten years?
