Has anybody picked up the re-releases of YYH? They've been re releasing the entire show with their fold out DVD style for quite some time now, and they are priced at $25-$30 for on average, 13 episodes. I was just wondering if it's worth looking into. I was also wondering if they did any touch up on the animation????? perhaps????

I don't know about remasters/touch ups, but there's little doubt that the price value is superb.

I have all the new Yu Yu Hakusho sets(it's a favorite series of mine),and it doesn't look like they remastered it(from what I've seen, the picture quality seems to be the same as the original release, only I don't have any of the old DVDs to compare)....
Value-wise,these sets are pretty great (14 episodes of an anime for 25-30 dollars is pretty good, esp considering the old discs were 3-4 episodes for 20-25 dollars)...I'm glad I never bought any of the earlier release DVDs(borrowed a couple from a friend once,though)...

All they did was put more episodes on the discs, so its more likely thats its a quality drop.

The episode split up is a bit weird. Usually for 14-episode sets (and they are 14 episodes per set, as 14 x 8 = 112) you would have 7 episodes per disc, as that's essentially the maximum most half-hour shows fit onto a DVD. However, FUNi puts 8 episodes on one disc and 6 on the second for some reason.

I only have an analog TV, so I'm not the best judge, but the video looks fine to me.

As for extras, each disc has its own trailer discs, while Disc 2 has textless songs and bios for every major character that appears in the collection (Usually about 16-20 characters).
