Like BCVM22 already indicated, Disney acquired the Power Rangers franchise when they bought the rights to Haim Saban's shows after Saban folded.

To be more specific: Disney bought Saban International (not Saban's entire company), which were the previous holders of the American rights to Power Rangers.
