After two December releases, Danny Ocean and his crew are back in Vegas this summer doing what they do best, taking down a casino! Only this time it's personal. (Well more personal than that last time.)

saw it last night. very enjoyable sequel.

call it a guilty pleasure, but i'm a big fan of this film series. i'm probably in the minority of people who didn't think that Ocean's Twelve was the complete suck-fest others made it out to be. Sure, it was disjointed in many parts, but it was an overall enjoyable experience for me. the self-consciousness was what made the movie fun for me.

but enough of the predecessor. Ocean's Thirteen was a definite improvement over the aforementioned film, on par with the 'original' Ocean's Eleven (considering that movie itself was a remake). Although there wasn't really a heist, I really did like the revenge angle, and showed the genuine belief in honor among thieves.

although some of the cast was used more than others, i think each of the original eleven had great moments. Danny (George Clooney) & Rusty (Brad Pitt) were as witty as ever. The Malloys (Casey Affleck & Scott Caan) still have great comedic chemistry. My personal favourite has always been the bumbling & well-meaning, but headstrong Linus (Matt Damon). In the first two films, he's always been portrayed as somewhat of a screw-up. But it's nice to see him kinda step up and play a more integral role.

One of the things i love about the movie was how it brought to the table what made Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve so memorable. The return of the Vegas backdrop and more linear storytelling of Eleven was just as great here as it was in the original. Then of course was the use of the Night Fox of Ocean's Twelve. I personally didn't expect to see him in Thirteen. However, it was a welcome story point to see that The Night Fox's grudge against Ocean's Eleven was still in play.

Overall, an enjoyable popcorn movie. Call me crazy, but this is the first 'threequel' of the summer that didn't completely disappoint me. God help me, a group of 11 thieves led by George Clooney of all people entertained me more than Spidey & a bunch of pirates

Truer words, Gothamite. Truer words...

Seriously, Thirteen was probably the most fun I've had in the theatres in a good couple of months. Genuinely entertaining, and being a full blood I-Ti, the constant mention of "You shook Sinatra's hand." made me smile so god damn large in every scene.

Pacino was nice and collected. Garcia was kind of wasted, but no big. And that final scene where Linus turns his head and says "See ya when I see ya." proving that he had finally made it to the big time? In all honesty, 10/10 everything I expected of this movie, it delivered and more.

If that doesn't deserve a 10, I don't know what does.
