View Full Version : Popeye 10 & 11
I just wanted you guys to know that Popeye Shows 10 and 11 will premiere 2/10 and 2/17. Unfortunately I had to pull Popeye the Sailor for the time being. It was replaced with I Eats My Spinach.

NO!!! :(
But is "Happy Birthdaze" still in episode 11?

Yep. It made it through...

Was the problem with "Popeye The Sailor" a technical one, or did someone at standards decide Betty Boop's hula dance was too risque? (I know that sounds silly, but after they cut the horse poop gag at the end of "Drip Along Daffy," I figure anything's possible...)
What I can't stand is that "Popeye The Sailor" has aired numerous times on LNB&W, but now it cannot be aired?
My guess is that CN's standards and pracitices department does not really monitor compilation shows. It's only when something is sceduled in advance that it gets examined.

Whith the help bozo, I think that the problem with "Popeye The Sailor" is because of the black stereotype in the cartoon. The scene is where Popeye and Bluto are throwing balls at him at the carnival. But if this is the reason, then it's absurd since they (CN) alwats showwed that scene intact all the time.
It was the ball throwing scene. Believe me, I don't understand it either...

But will "Happy Birthdaze" be uncut?

Well, I wouldn't say "all the time". I have only seen it unedited on CN once. All the other times I have seen it, the ball throwing scene was gone.
At least we can still all look forward to seeing "Happy Birthdaze"!

It used to be run uncut all the time, before around the middle of last year or so....

While we wait for the popeye show to eventually show the first episode, my one request to be added to your site would be "Popeye the sailor". (if you have it of course)

Thanks for the news bozo. I know we all appreciate you trying to give us some rarer stuff. I'll be adding these 2 eps. to my tapes as usual. :D
It's great to know that a second season has been confirmed. We need this show even more now that LNB&W will be leaving.
