All WB cartoons? That stinks.

Popeye cartoons used to air on Acme Hour, LNB&W, and the Popeye Show. Now, LNB&W will be cancelled, and Acme Hour stopped showing them. Does this mean they will only show on "The Popeye Show"? That's only 39 cartoons!

no it doesn't. I like WB cartoons the best. ;) What I want to know is, where'd Popeye go? There are never any Popeyes, color or otherwise, on Acme Hour anymore. I used to curse the redrawn Popeyes, but I kind of miss his presence.

Ah, it looks like "Behind the Meatball" is no longer out-of-rotation. That's good, it's nice to see a cartoon that hasn't been played in years get some air time.

I have a feeling CN wants to make the Popeye cartoons exclusive to Boomerang, like they have done with the majority of the Hanna-Barbera television cartoons (like Yogi Bear, Top Cat, etc). That would explain why he has been out of the Acme Hour rotation for months, and the lack of Popeye shorts outside of the Popeye Show.

I don't think it's fair how CN is treating Popeye, although Jon's theory may be correct. Oh well, my dad IS talking about getting a sattelite dish........:)

I like WB cartoons the best myself. The problem is that I already have most of them on video, giving me no desire to re-watch one-shot cartoons.

It may just be that CN is in a "Lets play the Warners and MGM one-shots" mode right now, and as a major character Popeye doesn't fit that theme, while unlike the main WB characters or T&J, there's no place else to show his cartoons right now. Droopy's pretty much in the same boat on CN, with only one half hour in the middle of the night on weekends dedicated to his show, only that will get worse after the schedule change later this month.
Remember, for a while the main complaint with The Acme Hour was they were showing nothing but the same cartoons you could see every day on Bugs & Daffy and Tom & Jerry, while the one-shots (especaily the pre-48s) were collecting dust on the shelf. It would be nice if they could actually come up with a mix of the two, so either option doesn't get stale.

That would be a disaster. My Popeye collection is awful, and I don't get Boomerang. I have cable TV.
This is really a reply to an Acme Hour thread, but I think it belongs here.

I have merged the two threads together into one. Since the topic (Popeye) was so similar.
