REVENUE: $698.4 million (up from $686.1 million)
PROFIT: $4.1 million (up from -$3.2 million)

Stuff that anime fans give a damn about:

Cary Deacon, Chief Executive Officer commented, "The Company is encouraged by its improving profit performance and management of its cash from operations during the fiscal year. FUNimation had a solid growth year and we anticipate growth in that business to continue. While Encore experienced a difficult sales year, its management of gross margin and expenses helped maintain its profitability. The new management team at Encore is meeting its performance objectives and we are seeing the results of their efforts in our new year. BCI experienced a difficult year and is in the process of rebuilding its core business and expanding its content offerings."
FUNimation demonstrated net sales growth of 47.8% during the fiscal year benefiting from new releases including, Fullmetal Alchemist, Robotech, Dragon Ball Z season sets, Trinity Blood and Basilisk. FUNimation net sales were negatively impacted in the fourth quarter by the previously-announced shift in the DVD release of Afro Samurai into the first quarter of fiscal year 2008.

NAVR stock has been upgraded to "Outperform" and "Buy" by Reuters and Rochdale respectively.

BCI sell non-anime such as cartoon, martial arts (mostly japanese), Pride and other. I suggest FUNimation is spin off from Navarre. Idea... Navarre sell FUNimation to WWE

I know. If they go under where will we get all those "great" forgotten toons of yesteryear?

Seriously though they are the kings of box sets.

So, what exactly does BCI release?

I only pay attention to their cartoon offerings, but for example:

He-Man
She-Ra
Prince Valiant
Defenders of the Earth
New Adventures of Flash Gordon
Blackstar
Bravestarr

Geez, I really hope BCI doesn't go under! Their releases have been some of the most brilliantly done pieces I have ever seen in retro TV shows and cartoons. Their desire to work with the fans have paid their reputation off in spades. It would be terrible if they went bankrupt! :(

That said, good for FUNimation for going up and up and up. With this news along with FUNimation getting their own place, they're looking to become the biggest anime powerhouse in the states.

Eh...I'm not surprised those aren't selling. I mean, I'd probably watch most of those if they came on TV just for nostalgia. But, to actually own those? I'd probably be embarrassed to put those on my DVD shelf. I really do want to watch that drug episode of Bravestarr again, though. That scared the crap out of me as a kid.
