so whatd you guys think about the fight between casandra and lady shiva??
spoilers ahead: YOUVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!
i thought it was a pretty good issue, but i was expecting more of a thrilling fight. the art was beautiful (i love the cover) and overall its good, but i was expecting more blood or more of a hardcore fight. and do you really think its possible cassandra could beat shiva that easily? it should have been more of a fight is what im saying.
my question is do you think the fight will continue in the next issue? from the preview and the ending, it didnt seem like it would. how do you guys feel abou this issue?

I thought the fight was OK, but why did Shiva, revive Batgirl? Plus why did she take the time to put her in her batsuit?
The ending was I don't know weird, like who won?
I was hoping some of the stuff in this iss, or the next iss would adress Batgirl's new knowlege of who Batman really is, and the murder storyline.

I bought it the day it came out, and I wasn't disappointed. It was a tremendous fight.
Cassandra didn't win easy. But the fight did bring into question her true abilities. I've seen martial artists break wood, bricks, even metal. But Cassandra broke a katana blade with her bare hands and didn't even flinch.
Why did Shiva revive Batgirl?
A theory was posted on this board a while earlier. It said that Lady Shiva is Batgirl's mother. With the way things are turning out, I hope that this is the case. Cassandra and Lady Shiva are the best two martial artists in the world. Shiva has killed opponents that were probably stronger than Batgirl with no remorse.
I don't think Shiva could kill her child (note: parenthood not proven). If anything, Shiva is proud of Cassandra.

Though I dont doub't the Idea of a Shiva/Cassandra Relation, I WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE THAT IDEA, It would make better Turmoil.
BUT THE REAL REASON WHY SHIVA BROUGHT BATGIRL BACK TO LIFE: was that it was a better challenge.
Batman and Oracle have said that, Cassandra has a Death Wish. She Truly DID intend to die going against Shiva. She walked into the fight expecting death for a couple of Reasons. 1- She was in debt to Shiva, 2-No matter how stupid Cassandra alway's keeps a promise, especialy driven from the guilt she feels of her past, and 3-Shiva is unbeatable. So in her warped yet justifiable mind, she knew her time was up.
HOWEVER, Shiva KNOWS this about Cassandra. She knows that Cassandra (based off her their abilities, which SEEM very similar) would not go back on her word. And she knows Cassandra came into the fight feeling she was in DEBT, to what Shiva did for her a year ago. So Shiva knew that in Cassandra's state of mind, She would NEVER get the best FIGHT out of Batgirl. So for a year she planned to, fufill Batgirls deathwish, and still get a good fight out her.
First she kills Batgirl, no hard Task for Shiva, since Batgirl was allready prepared to die, with the guilt she held inside. This basically cancel's out the debt that Batgirl agreed to. Then Shiva revives her, but not ONLY that she angers her, by showing that she killed another human, and WONT bring him back. This was all staged to get Batgirl in the right state of mind, for the ultimate fight. Because Batgirl is her best, when she's fighting to protect others.
The Final battle between them showed Batgirl at a higher fighting level then earlier in the book, because Batgirl felt like she had a reason to bring Shiva down, just like any other criminal. THIS is the fight Shiva intended on, the whole time, it was more of a challenge, Batgirl at the peak of her skill. That's why she brought her back. It's not all about skill, it's also about desire, Batgirl had no desire to take on Shiva at the beginning, but by the end of the book she did.
I Sorta liked the Issue. Personally I thought it would be a battle that lasted at least 2 issues long. Maybe a Batman intervention.
But I can see it being short since they're both so good. I also was shocked that Shiva Lost (KIND OF) at the end. But I guess if they're that good, it could go either way. They said Batman would win 4 out of ten fights with Shiva, I guess Batgirl has similar odds. Personally I dont think they are trying to de-throne Shiva, both Batman, and Batgirl need somone better than them.
Shiva's really mad, she's going to hunt her forever.
What I can't explain though is why Batgirl had the costume on at the end. MY ONLY resoning is that it was under her street clothes.

Back in 1988, (although not 1988 thanks to Zero Hour) Shiva, under the influence of a truth serum, told Batman she never had any children. If Cassandra's her daughter, I'll be disappointed.
Having never read the book, this was the first issue I picked up, and I liked it ^___^ I sort of read it the same way Flipmode did.
And the art was absolutely GORGEOUS. @_@
Does thsi Damien Scott guy draw for Batgirl as a regular?

yep flipmode, i agree totally. thats why i was confused, cause everything was really awesome except the actual fight at the end. after shiva brought her back to life, i was expecting alteast a fight that lasted to the next issue, and i too was hoping to see an appearence by the bat.
oh well, over all it was a good book, and who know, it may not be over yet. but the previews didnt make it clear if it was continuing.

I'm getting so sick of characters "dying" and then being "revived." It's such a cop out. When was the last time someone died and actually stayed dead? Jason Todd, anyone? This is just as bad as the end of The Last Laugh, where Dick "kills" the Joker and then he's revived a page later. Either have a character die, or don't. Don't say they're dead and then bring them back two seconds later. It's silly.
