During Barbara Gordon's explanation of what happened the night the Joker supposedly died at Tim's hands, she says the original Arkham Asylum was left half-standing and "held open like a rotting wound". My thinking is that maybe Knightfall occurred; Bane blew open Arkham after conspiring with his friends Bird, Zombie, and the other guy, and freed all the inmates. Batman sustained the back injury, Jean Paul Valley was introduced (maybe in an earlier episode if they make it; a two-part "Sword of Azrael" episode) and became Azbats, and the story goes on. Any theories on how Arkham got like that?

i don't think so...
because when Batman & Batgirl arrived at Arkham in the flashback, elder Barbara Gordon stated that "the old building had been partially demolished, and hung open like an open wound."
as time goes on, i guess you have update your stuff, so maybe that's why Arkham got moved to a high security building... but the old building wuz partially demolished, and not taken out by Bane.

maybe they had a mini-earthquake up there (IE:a partial no mans land)...

Could you imagine them trying to animate THAT?! It would be incredible, gotham in flames, the manor caving in....they'd never do it of course, but it would make a great (adult/anime-like) movie.

Yeah you're right. Cataclysm/No Man's Land would make a fantastic DTV, like SubZero.

One of the DTV rumors going around is a No Man's Land type of story. Supposedly Dini mentioned it, but it's probably an internet rumor.

Interesting. I would love to see the entire Knightfall saga, with KnightQuest and KnightsEnd in it too. Jean-Paul Valley would be introduced, Bane would be used more thoroughly than he was in "Knight Time" where Superman kicked his ass, and more like the way he almost broke Batman in "Bane". I hope that Dini relases the DTV of that and maybe Cataclysm/No Man's Land.

that sounds cool, but it would have to be an awfully long movie...

Yes, but that's a good thing...
I don't see why all animated movies have to be so short- they're often only like 65 minutes or something. I guess they don't think they can keep the animated audience's attention much longer than that.
I think NML would mork better as maybe a mini series of some sort... Who knows.

I agree with thegame8866. NML should be a mini-series; that'yd be a good idea.
