Where have I seen similar ads somewhere before... (http://kotaku.com/gaming/zzzz/ps3-lifestyle-pics-are-quite-dull-264351.php) :anime:
I've never see anyone enjoy a PS3 that much.
I mean, it's not exactly a barrel full of fun like the W--aw, I won't go there. ;)

Can you say 'copy cat'? While Sony needs to re-emphisize the PS3 as a 'game' console, those picture feel like a shameless attempt to imitate Nintendo's ad champaign for the Wii.

Fixed it for you.
Playing around aside, the new ad campaign is very simillar to Nintendo's, but the models look very forced and don't even have their thumbs on the controller. The weird white room advertisements for the PS3 are much better, at least it's original.
On a side note, the Wii is fun, but I wouldn't say it's much more fun than the PS3. I've personally had more fun playing Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3 than I have had playing anything on the Wii so far.

The Wii is a different kind of fun. The kind you see at gatherings like what's showin that PS3 ad.
My friends and I are around that age and I'll be gorramed if you will ever see people like that around a PS3 or a 360. But Wii parties are becoming pretty regular and common place where everyone gets in on the gaming.

I have been exposed to the world of advertisement and commercial photography since I'm a kid, even been in a few shots myself when I was younger (I was an Elf in a christmas catalogue XD) and I can tell you those pics are VERY lazy photography.
Lame composition, bad models and lame lighting. None of those have any energy at all!

The Wii is more fun to the casual and non-gamer crowds I believe. I'd consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer that has been playing video games since the late 80's and I will always prefer a standard gamepad over motion controls, which is why I have more fun playing a game with a gamepad than I do with the Wii's motion controls.
I have a Wii and I do enjoy it quite a bit, but I find myself playing virtual console games more than anything else on it right now. My friends and I would also rather play something like Halo over Wii Sports, but we do occasionally break out the Wii for bowling.
Of course my opinion could very easily change once games like Metroid, Mario, and Smash Bros. come out.

I hate all ads that show shiny, pretty people who are way too happy about doing something relatively mundane. The Wii ones annoy me just as much or more than these new ones, although I'll admit the Wii ads are better shot. This type of ad should be true to the video game experience and either show fat people sitting alone in a dark room for PS3 or fat people flailing like idiots for the Wii.

Yeah metoo I've been pretty much using it's ability to play older games more than games for the system itself, and I too prefer a traditional gamepad with it because the system has reallly screwy controls for many traditional genres like platformers and adventure games. I wouldn't mind the Wii remote controls for something like Lightgun games like House of the Dead which it seems more suited for, but the default wii controls just don't seem to work well with every genre.
I'm also looking forward to Metroid Prime 3 as well, I hope it can atleast preform to the supposed mental image and expectations of magical spacesuit adventures in shooting, or atleast use the most of the prefered systems of the FPS and Adventure genres and combine them in a streamlined way.
But in all honestly Videogame adds and commercials are far from widespread or as common as other types of adds. While they do appear in magazines(usualy ones specifically published for games) they're not as common as movie adds and such. It seems that most games spread thru word of internet or mouth, or even the reviewering sources themselves. And quite honestly it's an Add, and really PR campaigns are no fun to begin with, unlike the games themselves.
Hey, at least they haven't gone negative.
I could totally see an anti-Wii ad making fun of their supposed target audience, 5 year olds, while the PS3 is shown being played by college kids and twenty-somethings.

Its not like Sony is above a negative ad, although the only one I can remember them doing was the hilarious Crash Bandicoot series.
"Hey, plumber boy!"
I would welcome more like those, because the crap they're doing now is boring.

But, I thought using the Wii controllers burned calories?
