"Shakespearian Spinach" (Popeye) - redrawn
Bluto can sing, and rather well--I'll be g.d.'ed! Fav bit--Olive tosses Popeye a spinach wreath; after he eats it Popeye's muscle turns into a fist and pops Bluto so hard his teeth turn into playing cards--weird!
"She Was an Acrobat's Daughter"
Watch for the Lew Lehr parody, Hoo Dehr. Fav line in the song: "She bit [a lion that bit her] right back!/In two days the poor lion died!" Fav scene: the film running backward at top speed when the duckling gets snarled in the filmstrip.
"Bats in the Belfry" (MGM)
Were the bats supposed to be celebrity caricatures? Fav line: "A Southern bell!"
"Curious Puppy"
Those dogs appeared in two other shorts, one about The House of Tomorrow and the other with Ben Hardaway's early Bugs prototype. Here, though, they're enemies. Eh? Fav scene: after seeing the little dog outside the fence, the big dog does a slow burn of anger, then flops down in a crying fit.
