This is the talkback thread for "Paprika": One Spicy Anime (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=17246).

It's Satoshi Kon, so of course it'd be freaky.

Thank god I saw this when it was playing the Japanese Currents festival. It doesn't officially start in Portland until... gasp... June 25th!

If there was one flick that could get me to plant my behind in a theater seat for the first time in almost three years, this could very well be the one.

Now, there's only the little matter of actually finding a place that'll run it. I forsee going out of town for that one.

*Makes note to get around to Perfect Blue sometime this lifetime*

I liked Tokyo Godfathers, but disliked Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent, and Millennium Actress, but I try not to judge films based on director. From what I hear, though, it's similar to Perfect Blue, which doesn't inspire much confidence. However, it's based off a book, so who knows? I'll catch this when it hits DVD or whenever.

Is there any official timetable for when the movie is going into more widespread release? I can't seem to find any specific dates other than the NY/LA ones.

The best way to find a place that's showing Paprika is to check your local independent movie theater. They're the most likely to show this movie and some have date well into the future.

I enjoyed the movie, myself when I saw here in NYC over the weekend. I'd say if you didn't like Paranoia Agent, though, you may want to give the movie a pass. It's only slightly less weird than PA.

If you're in the Philly area, this will be showing at the Ritz theaters, at an undisclosed date. Most likely June 25.
