He seemed to be the one most pushing for the sequel, and now he suddenly drops out?
EDIT: Here's the full article from aintitcool.com (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/32673).

Here's Tom's complete and very emotional letter to the fans.

I've known about his departure for a while now. LGF is the crappiest studio for not giving the fans what they want. Thomas understood what the fans expected and fought for a true Punisher movie that would satisfy even the most hardcore fan. Hell, he even went to gun shows, talked with military experts, and studied many of the best action films to make sure the next Punisher movie would be perfect. Now that Tom's out of the project, I don't give a damn what they do with the movie now because I won't see it. I wish the rights would go back to Marvel. Screw you LGF!

If nothing changes, it seems Jane is taking a stand for The Punisher rather than abandoning him. What I got out of this was that Lions Gate is hurting the film with decisions they are making and Jane can't take it.

That's the impression I got as well, but it just shocked me because for months I've read nothing but Jane interview excerpts where he was saying the script was coming along nicely, everything was looking good, he was excited to start, etc., and then--BOOM!--like that he's out of the project. :(

I'm sorry to hear that Thomas Jane is no longer part of the proposed 'Punisher' sequle. I thought he play the part very well, and i admire the fact that he's so passionate about the character, and his mythos. Who knows what will happen to the franchies now that Jane is out of the picture.

It better die as long as LGF has the rights.

I don't get it. LGF did a decent job adapting Avengers and Iron Man into animated movies. Why such contempt for the Frank Castle character?

LGF needs to put up at least $60-80 million to film Punisher right. The first film had less than $30 million and a great portion of that money went to John Travolta. Thomas Jane tried to get the right money to film in New York but LGF just wouldn't put up any money. The rights need to go back to Marvel so the sequel can be developed with Marvel's money just like Iron Man and Incredible Hulk and so Thomas Jane can come back on board. LGF should not be making live action comic book films that require a decent budget.

Wow. Yeah, Tom Jane played the part perfectly in the first one, so a sequel without him wouldn't be the same. I agree with Sub-Zero, let it die for now.
