Is it Batman? Maybe the boy scout Superman? The wise cracking Flash? The strict Green Lantern? Or maybe the lonely J'onn J'ozz?

Lucho

You may need to add Aquaman to that list. If you anticipate any votes at all. ;)

FLASH!!! :D

Don't ask me why I voted for him; I just think he's cool! :p

It's Batman all the way. :D

I just don't see Big Blue as being sexy. Well, none of them really...except for Batman.

Plus, it's the voice too. Whenever I read Batman's lines or see him, it's the animated voice I hear/imagine.

Well, I think all of the JL men are good looking, but I think I'll have to go for my favourite, The Flash! :D It's a shame that we can't see what Wally and Bruce look like under those cowls... :(

Judging from the poll results at this point, it seems It would be to my benefit to consider aquiring a sense of humour.

Having a sense of humor is good, but too much isn't that good either.

But I'll admit, that the "darkness" factor is part of the reason the Bat is soooooo attractive. If you want to go with "everyday" attraction, then yeah, the Flash would win hands down.

MM is my fav charecter, but, as for attractiveness, uh.... he looks COOL, that's for sure, but I mean, he is a big green shapeshifting member of another species .....kind of makes things awkward....

Count me in for the Batman. :D No beating Kevin Conroy's voice, and there's just something about the dark brooding hero. :) Of course in real life I'd need some Supes thrown in - dark brooding heroes don't make for great boyfriends. ;)

Mask men dressed in dark colors do it for me. Batman, all the way. Errr, didn't mean it to sound like that :o . But I meant it :D

I've found that many women, if not the majority, like the idea of "A Knight in Shining Armor." They also like a challenge, someone unreachable. They also like guys with an attitude, a brooding one. Batman has this kind of demonic sex appeal that seems to work for a lot of the female board members, including myself. The only person who might have been able to outdo Bats is Nightwing. Similar traits, but more of a sense of humor and perhaps a little more innocent.

This whole thing reminds me of a quote describing Mr. Spock from Star Trek, for some reason: "[He's] a security blanket with sexual overtones."

My brain doesn't make normal connections. <shrug>

Ya know, originally, I went with Batsy, but after thinking about it, I decided to change my vote to J'onn. He's really the most logical choice, when you think about it. He can change into Batsy...or Supes, or GL, or Flash, or whoever else suits my mood at any given moment. The mind reading thing might freak me out though.

I fell in love with Batman in sixth grade, and I'm still there. Originally it was for all the obvious reasons, but now I think the thing I find most attractive about him is (don't laugh!) his vulnerability. I don't mean fighting criminals even though he could easily be killed (well, I kind of do, I greatly respect that about him). I mean his emotional vulnerability. He only broods because he's suffering, and he only suffers because he cares so much. Batman doesn't love with half a heart. He gives it everything he's got, just as he does with everything else. By doing that, he opens himself up for some nasty wounds, and we all know he's taken quite a few of them. Who can blame him for being distrustful of people when he's been hurt so many times? But by God, when you earn his trust, he'll stand by you to the bitter end. That's what I love about him.

Woah. I said waaaaay too much! :o I'll shut up now! :D

He's my funny valentine. Er, I guess he's not that funny, but you get my meaning.

Guitar Slayer & M'ral - you both hit the nail on the head. I think there is a psych paper in this for some lucky girl. :)

Who says the ladies get all the fun? :D

Bruce is definately the most attractive of the JL males, though GL is quite nice as well. He's a bit too stern and moody though... of course Bruce/Bats isn't exactly the poster boy of stability himself... ;)

I have to go with J'onn. He's just so durn good-looking! Admittively, I've never been one for normalcy but that's just tough. I still think J'onn is the best looking man in the DC universe! ^_^
Batman and Superman have never done anything for me, I prefer the strong silent type to the grim curmudgeon or the overgrown boyscout, no offense to any of their fans.
In my own opinion, which no one will probably agree with, J'onn and Diana make a far better couple than anyone she's been stuck with so far. Just my opinion of my favourite martian.

Bats hand down.

The voice and the attitude. Though I must admit I have a bit of a soft spot for Superman. But if I had to be trapped in an elevator it's Batman I'd want to be stuck with.

Oh and Bruce is still an eligible bachelor. Much more refined than Flash I have a feeling. :)

The Phantasm was such a fool.... [obscure reference, I know.]

Mmm...smart, sexy rich guy with martial arts and Houdini skills....

[drools]

That, and he truly cares for children. :) Always a winner with me.

Maybe it's Kevin Conroy's voice; maybe it's the B:TAS to JL evolution of the character, I dunno.

I had to like him after "Heart of Ice" and "I Am the Night". [then again, the first ep really focused more on Mr. Freeze.]

To truly understand what the other poster was saying about Batman's vulnerability(and my obscure bit at the top), you must--if you haven't already--rent/buy Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Ah, Bruce...Roger Smith's unknown father, I just know it. :D

YES, the martian is beating Superman and Green Lantern. We have some sick chicks at this board.

I think Superman would get more votes if it was his original STAS design. JL makes him look older. Speaking of which, I wonder if we'll ever get a look at the full faces of Flash and Hawkgirl.

Well, J'onn seems to have all the charisma of a utility pole. Maybe they're turned on by the challenge of getting him to loosen up.

Hmmm... I think it might help if you wore all black, disappeared before anyone could finish their sentence, and spent most of your time in a big, dark hole in the ground working on a computer.

;) Just kidding. ;)

I voted for batman basically because of the reasons listed in both The Guitar Slayer's and M'ral's posts.

By the way M'ral, when I was reading your post I was thinking about Batman Beyond "Out of the Past" where he calls Talia "beloved". Fifty years later he can finally say he loves her. I thought that was one of the most potent scenes in the whole series.

M'ral
02-12-2002, 02:46 AM
So did I. It's a prime example of Batman's complete devotion and resultant vulnerability. Talia put him through hell, teased, tortured, and betrayed him numerous times, and yet after all that and fifty years, he still loves her. Most girls would kill to have a boyfriend that devoted. But Batman is attracted to strong-willed women who love just as devoutly as he does, and unfortunately the object of their devotion usually turns out to be something that conflicts with his ethics. With Talia, it was her homicidal father. With Catwoman, her life of crime. With Phantasm, her murderous vendetta. Those flaws made otherwise remarkable women completely incompatable for Batman. Batman is not incapable of love, as he is sometimes portrayed. He just has a high moral standard, and strictly adheres to it. His is a lonely life because most of the women who meet his other standards don't measure up to this, the most critical one. But he still loves them for what they are, and for what he hopes they could someday be. They are too devoted to their immoral obsessions to change, and so hurt Batman deeply by rejecting his efforts to reform them, but still the ever loyal Batman continues to love them.

Yikes! What a tangent! *Ahem* Moving right along... :o

On a side note, I don't think you really have to see Mask of the Phantasm to understand all this. MOTP was yet another prime example, but it's constant throughout the Batman saga, and can be found in virtually every incarnation of Batman. It's a basic element of his personality, and any version that changes it violates the very essence of the character. But MOTP does bring this often downplayed aspect to the fore, so if in my long-winded explanations and mental wanderings I lost anybody, please take Anubis's advice and watch Phantasm. They make the point much clearer than I do! :D
