Doomsday/Superboy...

I'm primarily a Batman fan, but for those of you who read the Doomsday saga, what did you guys think? No spoilers please! Do you guys think buying the trade is worth it?

One more question that has nothing to do with Doomsday. How does Superboy fit into the DCU and where did he come from?

I bought most of the Doomsday books at the stands when they came out. IMO, they stunk. It seemed to me that Doomsday's real power was not super strength or invulnerability. Instead, his power is to suck all the intelligence out of any hero he fights and make them think that the only way to beat him is to HIT him REALLY HARD. If you want a big huge slugfest where lots of property gets damaged and every DC hero that ever existed acts like an idiot, feel free to pick up the TPB.

As for Superboy, he appeared in the aftermath of the Doomsday saga, when the world suddenly had 4 Supermen. He was one of them, and turned out to be some kind of Superman clone out of STAR Labs or something. It all got rather silly after that, but at least we got Steel out of the deal.

Other people liked the whole Doomsday thing, so your mileage may vary.

I have to agree. Any drama that may have been attached to Superman's death was negated by his idiocy. "OK, uh, Superman? Punching him clearly doesn't work, and you don't look so good. Maybe it's time to try something else."
Superman has faced dozens of opponents that he couldn't beat with his fists. Why he stood there and went toe to toe with Doomsday never made sense. There are better trades out there waiting for your $.

looking back on it im kinda pissed off about the whole storyline....

at least it introduced Steel
