The TTTP has been around since either late 1997 or early 1998 (I don't have an exact date). It was originally on one of those free message board services: BeSeen. The name "Termite Terrace Trading Post" was an idea of Kevin McCorry. It later moved to the terrible Freeboards in 1999 (after the BeSeen board was invaded by a joker). Before it finally became part of Toon Zone.

I am not sure if anyone from the early days is still posting here... I know the prankster drove off a bunch of regulars and they never returned.

I didn't know it was that old, I didn't even have the internet in 1997. I have been to the old Freeboards board, when Matthew still had a link to the old board from his site, but it was filled with advertisements.

I've heard about the prankster, too bad, fortunately this board has lots of great defensive features if anyone tries anything.

I think I'm probably one of the earliest posters still around, although Andrew Gilmore was around back then too. I discovered it about late '98 or early '99, it was still on BeSeen. To me, it was (and still is) one of the most effective ways to learn about and discuss cartoons, and find out more about what I had always liked to watch on TV. I think I was actually doing a school project and needed something to do with Looney Tunes when I discovered it, though I forget now what it was. It was a slightly different crowd then, not as many regulars and a lot of drop-iins with questions. A series of pranksters pretty much killed the BeSeen site and the Freeboards one after it (which had technical difficulties). When it and the LT/MM site moved to ToonZone, it really seemed to take off, and is now a widely-used site.

I discovered it towards mid-late march 2000, but didn't post until April 7th, 2000. I had known about Jon's site well before that though, and I knew about Matthews site, I think I posted at Merrie Messages before coming here.

Although I'm sure no one would consider me a "regular" [since I don't post too often], I've been around without interruption since late '98, checking things out at least once a day. I still remember the thrill of discovering the TTTP for the first time! A few of the regulars I remember from back then include Greg Method [still around] and Joey Mallick [anyone know whatever became of Joey??].

I know I've been posting since close to the beginning. At the time, I didn't get CN, TBS, or TNT at school, so I liked reading about what was being aired on those channels. If it wasn't for the TTTP, I never would have known TBS and TNT were dumping their cartoons, and I'd have missed out.

I too remember BeSeen.com, and it probably would have worked out fine if not for those joker posters. That being said, though, ToonZone is sure a better home!

I forgot about you, Mike, but ONLY for the reason that you were going by a different ID when I discovered the board! Anyone besides me remember Mike's old TTTP name [a name which caused a LOT of confusion!]???

Hey, Jon,

Do any of the old archives exist? I thinking I first posted here almost two years ago, and have been here semi-regularly. But by no means do I post as frequently as most others here. I'm more of a lurker than a poster.
