I know you read this board, and use some of our ideas, but this idea is definitely worth considering. If one of the moderators would make this an important post, I would appreciate it.
Recently, Turner Classic Movies ran a documentary on film preservation. I think a similar documentary on cartoon preservation would be an excellent edition of Toonheads, or better yet a documentary worthy of being on Cartoon Theater.
It could include the restoration of the Popeye shorts, as well as other cartoon restorations. If at all possible, could some other studio cartoons be included in this possible special.
The cartoon preservation special should be done in the same manner, as the film preservation documentary, and should air on both TCM and CN.
I'm sure that fellow TTTP posters would agree with my proposal.

I agree with Argus...
Gak, I really don't know where Cartoon Network stands with this, but cartoons are dying as of this very moment and need the support and restoration and they need your network's biggest support.Several years ago CN used to run commericals to help restore animation's past and CN stopped showing that segment.
As a lover and historian of the animated cartoon, to me it feels like CN is more interested with new cartoons and forgetting the great classics and classic animation is quickly disapearing right before our eyes and I truly hope that your network has a "MAJOR" concern over this issue.Gak, when I pitched a show idea(to you and CN) for a weekly silent cartoon showcase, it was an idea to expose a new generation of cartoon fans a chance to see and enjoy the great silent cartoons that were made before the dawn of sound arrived. As of now, I see classic cartoon becoming history on your network.Soon to be gone is "Late Night Black And White", The Acme Hour", late night showings of "Tom And Jerry", and "Bugs And Daffy".
This tells me that the great and the best animation is becoming a thing of the past on CN as the network focuses on new animation and Japneese anime. As and adult I look foward to seeing theatrical cartoons during late night viewing hours and now I don't (like everyone else)have that anymore.Cartoon Preservation is very, very important and I feel that CN should do something about it real bad. Gak, I hope that you understand this situation that cartoons are in bad shape right now and I truly hope the you and CN will showcase and spread the cause that cartoons are becoming lost, never to be seen ever again by cartoon fans.
I feel that your network should to something about this cause, I would love to see a special "Toonheads" edition on preserving cartoons, or do(like AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS) a weekend long "Cartoon Flim Preservation" I think that "Cartoon Cartoons" could be pre-empted for a weekend and I know that other cartoon fans would feel the same and agree with me on this subject matter. It would be great for your network to do such a program and it would give CN "HUGE" ratings...Classic theatrical cartoons always get huge ratings on your network and if you could do such an animated event by showcasing all cartoons from the Hollywood studios from "Animation's Golden Age' it would truly make your network the true leaders of animation.
I hope that you read our posts on this and I hope that you'll reply and let us know..
Thanks Gak!
