It's hard to imagine a world without Nintendo Power. Granted, the magazine isn't nearly as good as it once was, but still it's Nintendo Power.

It lost everything that made it great when it re-vamped a few years ago.

I hope not.

If Nintendo Power dies, that will feel like a part of my childhood died.

You've got that backwards. The mag was childish and vapid in its early Gamecube years, but the redo made it much much better. They can't quit now; it's too good!

Are they still producing game comics?

If not, they need to...

I, too, stopped caring once the comics stopped coming.

So they did stop.

Is it too much to ask for a Twilight Princess manga helmed by a veteran mangaka?

I'de miss it slightly, but it wouldn't be a huge loss. It kinda lost that Nintendo feel a couple years ago, anyway. It feels like any other gaming mag out there.

Eh I won't really miss it. NP was best during the days of the NES through the SNES. After that era died and the N64 came out, it just wasn't the same or as interesting.

Man, I've got almost every issue of NP, even the first one with SMB2. Sad to see it go, but it did take a huge slide when the GC came out. The new version is better, but not as good as the past. NP was fantastic in the NES years, and absolute gold in the SNES years. Good times.

You do know Shotaro Ishinomori died almost a decade ago, right?

I always loved how the guy who drew the Zelda comic... freakin' created Sentai.

Yeah yeah...

But I never mentioned him specifically mind you.

...

Nintendo needs more manga, dammit

Well, NP did run the 6-chapter Pokémon Mystery Dungeon manga, which was sold in GN format a couple months ago by Viz.

I still can't believe Nintendo hasn't brought over any of its Zelda manga, even when Zelda fever was at is peak or after the Kingdom Hearts manga sold so well.

I'm still waiting on that lovely Phoenix Wright series... :\

"Zelda helmed by a notable manga-ka"

How am I not supposed to think of the guy who made Kamen Rider and Super Sentai and Cyborg 009?

Yeah, he was pretty awesome.

But that was a one time deal and a rather lucky break for Nintendo at that. I don't see them going through hoops like that again.

I've been a Nintendo Power subscriber since 1993.

But honestly, it's not as interesting as it used to be. Back in the day, before everyone and their dog had Internet access, it was magazines like these that gave you the scoop on upcoming games, and "Classified" cheat codes. Now you can get all of your up-to-the-minute breaking news stories and game reviews online, for free, from dozens of sources.

I know. I'm surprise that Nintendo didn't put the Diamend and Pearl Manga in the Magazine. You know, to hype up the Games. They, may still do it. I dunno. Of course, its still ongoing, but still.

I agreed. What is up Nintendo? Really. Maybe, it has to do with licsening issues. I remember, Tokyopop tried to get the Metroid Manga relese, but because of licsening issues, they couldn't. I dunno. Oh, well.

The magazine is much better in recent years than in the past (I still love the few issues of the magazine I have left over from the SNES era; they are the greatest!), and I would be sad to see it go even though it still needs considerable work to be considered to be of high quality.

One thing I should note is that my problems with Nintendo Power (stale writing, poor exclusives, etc.) are really problems I have with the games journalism industry in general more than anything else.

I still remember being in 5th grade sneaking glimpses of the Nintendo Power this one guy would bring in all the time during class, and we'd look at tips on how to beat Birdo in Super Mario 2. :crying:

I hope this is just a rumor.
NP is one of the few game mags I actually buy regulary. I do miss the previous format the magazine was in, but the new ver. is growing on me.

The guy who created Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, & Cyborg 009 also did a Zelda comic!!?

I really hope that Nintendo Power doesn't go. It's one of the few video games magazines I enjoy reading.

You know what? I just realized that I haven't received my last 3 issues or so. Apparently, I don't care about it too much anymore. No big loss for me if they go. Although, I wouldn't mind getting those issues that I've already paid for.

Indeed. And a masterful job at that.

But I didn't see the connection until I saw the beauty of Cyborg 009 on Toonami years later.

I still have the comic in book form. An awesome portrayal of A Link to the Past. ;)

Did your subscription run out? I've found that they don't make a big (enough) deal when it's ending.

But it been's really great the last few years, and as a 10 year subscriber, I hope this isn't true.

No, I've actually got 7 issues left or something. And today when I went to their website to report the missing issues it said:

Your mailing status is on hold. Issues cannot be replaced at this time. Oh, well. I really don't read them that much anyway.

Recently, Nintendo decided to create two new regional offices, one in the San Francisco area, and a smaller office in New York City. The majority of our sales and marketing division will be relocated to the San Francisco area, with a portion of the division relocating to New York. Our main headquarters and the majority of the company will remain in Redmond, WA.

There have been rumors that Nintendo Power may be shut down as part of this change. However, these are just rumors and nothing has been officially announced on this subject. Keep an eye on www.nintendo.com for news and announcements.

I can't say that I'd be extremely upset if NP shut down. I don't get the same excitement I got back in the day because a) I've heard 95% of the news via the Internet and b) video games are no longer the center of my life. However, NP has always been a decent magazine and the efforts they've made to improve over the last two years have been good. I just wonder what would happen to my subscription if they shut down. I've still got a good 37 issues left on it (long story).

You would either get a ton of refunded cash or a super long subscription to another magazine.

Their are more than one D&P Manga? The only one I know of, is the PokeSpecial one. Which, is the one that I was talking about.
