So basically four guys accuse another guy of stealing a Playstation and he just opens fire on them...although the shooter says he was acting in self-defense because the four guys barged into his room at 11:30 at night.

Not much here you can pin video games on except the cause of the argument. It might as well have been a tennis racket. If anything, this is a prime example why 'guns are needed for self-defence' is an imbecilic argument against gun control.

Well, if four dudes just burst into my place unexpected, yes, my first thought is they plan on bringing some crap down on me right then and there, so....yeah. Not that I have a gun or anything, but I'd be ready to defend myself, regardless of any accusations.
