OK, I've got to ask.
Is there anything documented anywhere that explains WTF happened to Dexters Lab in it's final season? The ugly and cheap design changes, the terribly un-funny stories... etc?
Catching a few of these as the 'extra' segments on Boomerang....now I remember why I stopped watching them.
Oh, and I take it the voice of Johny Bravo is also the voice of Dexters Dad? Never noticed it before...

They were made by some other people than the original

Yeah, I didn't like the final season either, they weren't the same at all, and like Dr. Pepper said, it was made by some new people.... that didn't work lol.

Yep, Gennedy left for Samurai Jack, and Dex became near unwatchable IMO.

When Genndy and Craig left the show after Ego Trip, Chris Cavino became the head director in Season three and David Smith became the art director, giving the show a much different feel and style then the first two seasons. Season Four did at least try to go back to the 7/7/7 forumlar Seasons 1 and 2 used (season 3 had an a run of mainly 9/4/9 which many people did not like) it ended up being even weaker story wise then Season Three. So yeah the last two seasons are a lot weaker then the first too. There are still some decent segments in season 3/4 ("Poppa Wheelie", "A Mom Cartoon", "Lab On The Run", "RoboDexo 3000", "My Dad Vs Your Dad", "Sis-Tem Error", "Head Band", "2geniuses 2gether 4ever" "Dexter's Wacky Races") But a whole load of bad segments as well ("A Quackor Cartoon", "Tele-Trauma", "Dos Boot", "Opposites Attract", "Smells Like Victory", "Oh Brother", "Scare Tactics", "Chicken Scratch", "Monstri-Dee-Dee", "Dad Man Walking", "Father Knows Least", "Sore Eyes", "Height Unseen", "Comic Stripper", "Tea Party").

I try to pretend that nothing is canon after Ego Trip. Because... well... nothing is.

I agree that some Season 3 & 4 episodes were true clunkers, but there were many great ones in the bunch as well. Not as many as the first two seasons, but I still enjoy "Chess Mom," "Dexter's Wacky Races," "Comedy of Feathers," and "Stuffed Animal House."
And, I think Candi Milo did a great job as "Dexter #2" after Christine Cavanaugh retired from the role.

My main beef with the later Dexter episodes, besides the new look, was some of the continuity issues. Especially with the inclusion of Mandark's parents without any aknowlegement of Mandark having a different name in 'Dexter's Rival' prio to 'A Boy Named Sue'.

Maybe the producers might have forgotten Season 1?

Don't forget the fact that his sister disappered
I didn't like the final season much, but Dexter was a great show, I always found it quite interesting :P.

While the later episodes weren't as great as the early ones, there were a few gems in the bunch. One of my favorites was the 'Wacky Races' tribute/spoof. Very fun episode.
