Any and all info. Like is she the same Supergirl that has been around for years? Where are her powers, that kind of stuff...

The original Supergirl from the silver age died in Crises on Infinite Earths. The modern Supergirl is from an alternate universe, and isn't Kryptonian at all. She's a shape-shifter. She modeled her appearance and costume on the original Supergirl, Kara. The modern one's name is May. Her powers include Shape shifting (duh,) and Superman's powers, just not as powerful.

But the animated Supergirl is someone else. She is the survivor of a planet that was in Krypton's solar system. I think. How she got to Earth I don't know, but there's a bio of her on this site.

As stated earlier, the orginal supergirl (supermans cousin) died in the crisis.
The supergirl in the comics to follow was called Matrix -- May for short. She was created on some alternate planet by that planet's version of Lex Luthor -- a good guy. When she came to our planet, she hooked up with (and was sleeping with) our planets evil Lex Luthor (who actually had long red hair at the time and was pretending to be his son, a brain transplant thing, but i digress)
She was pretty much this way until she got her own book. In something like the first issue, she found a dying girl named Linda Danvers who was sliced up pretty bad. Supergirl merged with Linda and can now morph in and out of the Linda Danvers persona.
In animated continuity, supergirl lived on a planet in the same solar system as krypton (the actual name of the planet escapes me at the moment)... Anyway, when Krypton blew up, it knocked supergirls planet out of orbit, and it started to get really cold. Her mother put the family into cryo tubes, which were all destroyed -- except for supergirl's. Superman cruises out to his old solar system, finds her, brings her back to earth, and rest is history.
Hope this helped....
