As much as we all love our hand held Pokemon I can't help but feel that the big N should start putting out full blown Pokemon Rpgs on their conlses. Of course with such a transtion changes would be made. Here's how I think a Wii Pokemon RPG could work.
1. Battles are action based. When you enter a battle you gain full control over your pokemon, use the Wiimote for basic attacks(scatch, pound), the A button to jump, the B button for defending. The D-pad would be for the other moves that the pokemon has learned. Numchk to move, Z button to lock on for attacks.
2. The different pokemon you have can change how you progress in the game ( long distance to travel, hop on your Onix!) and you can call out your pokemon outside of b battle to train and play with.
What do you think? Feel free to add.

Well, that wouldn't really be an RPG really, but that would make a good basis for a cool Zelda-like adventure game based on Pokemon, maybe. Probably be more satisfying than Colosseum, anyway.
I don't mind spin off games or Stadium/Colosseum type of games on consoles but I really don't want a full console Pokemon RPG unless its a MMORPG.

I've heard a few times they were planning an MMO, but never went through with the project. Due to lack of intrest, I think. That and not everyone can afford MMOPRGs

I don't know if I'm the only one here that's a big fan of the shadow-pokemon plot of Colosseum and XD, and if I am, who cares! Anyway, I have full confidence that they'll make another Pokemon RPG for the Wii. It just wouldn't make sense if they didn't because they have a long history of making RPG's.
What I would like in a new pokemon RPG is that they:
1. Allow you to choose to be a boy or girl.
2. Have Ardos (from XD) be the new boss of Cipher, since he didn't get caught, and the fact that he's the best pokemon game villian I've ever been up against.
3. Catch both wild AND shadow pokemon.
4. Walk, ride a bike, whatever, to go in between towns.
One question: what's an MMOPRG? I'm not entirely familiar with long abbreviations like that for games.

I would loooooove to have a good console RPG, but they'd have to fix the mountain of problems Colosseum and XD had before I'd subject myself to another console Pokémon game.

yes, Nintendo does have habit of making less than stellar console Pokemon games. But they know they'll sell well since it's well Pokemon. But I really hope that after the next Pokemon arena game that they'll try and mix it up a bit.

It means 'Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game'.
Like World of Warcraft and stuff.

While a console version of Pokemon would be interesting, at this point, I'm just looking forward to a "Pokemon Wii Channel" for storage and stuff.

According to what I reads on Wikipedia (yes, I'm aware that anyone can edit Wiki), there was supposed to be Pokemon consle RPG for the N64DD, but do to the failure of the device, the game was cancelled.

I've never heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me. The death of that device killed tons of games, most notably Earthbound 64. And they still haven't picked that one back up. :(

Won't happen. Nintendo's not going to give you a free/discounted Wii Channel when they could charge $50 a la Pokémon Box and people will still buy it.

Didn't say it'd be free (although, given that the Internet Channel and others are free at the moment...), but it could be packaged with, say, a new Pokemon game (put the link to download on a disc) or all-new accessory.
And given that Pokemon Box never got a wide release in America, that would be the more logical way to release it; online, not a physical copy to cost money.

The Internet Channel's only free for a spell, and the other Channels, while fun, are useless on a practical level.

Its been fan dreaming for years, i'm sure Nintendo has thought of it but never talked of it outside so no one should know anyway.

Only when compared to the GB games, they haven't all been bad most are decent at least.

That game was Pokemon Stadium that ended up released on N64.

Pokemon Box was only available at the Pokemon Center NY and pokemoncenter.com and it was only $20 not 50. Not to mention it included a special memory card and the GBA/GCN cable that I think used to cost 20 by itself. So it was a great deal basically a free game. I am sure a Pokemon "Channel" on the wii could happen easily.

With the new Wii pokemon battle game I thought it'll be cool dream up ideas for a cool Pokemon open-world game. Heres the question, if Nintendo made an open-world console pokemon game. What features would you want it to have?
Here's mine:
1. Every location from all the games
2. You can choose which starter town you begin the game in
3. A more action-type of battle system.

You should also have a more variety in choosing starters (like the Pokemon Colliseum has) and like Speedy said should be able to get to different places using different Pokemon. I also think that the Wii controls would work very well for a Pokemon RPG but it does seem doubtful they'd do a full one if they haven't for the last two generations. I mean really is it too much to put effort into the handheld RPGs that they can't do it for console ones? Or do they figure people will keep buying the semi RPG/regular fighting colliseuim games and don't even want to try anymore for a rull on Console RPG?
Here's my idea or series of ideas for a console Pokemon RPG.
-NO MMORPG! Nintendo is not a company that can do MMOs, and a Pokemon MMORPG is not yet feasable.
-Have it set in the Orange Islands. I enjoyed that arc on the TV show. I still have not seen it in video game form. And, of course, a large water-type will be the main mode of transport between the islands.
-Your Pokemon is always outside. It will be similar to how Ash has Pikachu by his side. However, it will be only one Pokemon at a time (no 2-on-2 gameplay)
-Action/RPG a la Kingdom Hearts.
-Option to choose between Wiimote/Nunchuck (default) or the Classic Controller
-Wiimote/Nunchuck controls are similar to Twilight Princess's Controls, except the D-Pad is for your Pokemon's attacks and the - button access your available Pokemon.

You know if Nintendo actually pushed the Wii a bit more than an all-encompassing Pokemon MMORPG would work wonders.
But for some reason they're very content with battle games like Battle Revolution and the same damn RPG every time only with more Pokemon.

The Pokemon "format" (so to speak) is just screaming for an MMO. Instead of random CPU trainers, you should be able to battle humans online. Mix in some other concepts like a group/clan type system, team battling, tournaments, and keep the single player aspects (gyms, Elite Four, etc), and we've got a hell of a game on our hands.
This simply won't happen, though. MMORPGs require mostly free lines of communication, and with the super restrictive friend code system in place, we can kiss such an idea goodbye.
So long as the handheld Pokemon's continue to sell the way they do, their wont be a big transition to a console. Just mini attempts like the GameCube RPGs or the new Stadiums.
And I dont see Nintendo trying to delve into the MMO market any time soon, although the sales for an MMO Pokemon would be crazy

I don't know... an MMO feels like such a waste of time XD
Would it be a combination of the quest and the current wifi battling? (where trainers Pokémon are equalized in level so that only EV training counts?)
Or would you just upload your Pokémon from Diamond/Pearl and just play in a new world to find opponents??
I'd like a varied experience, not just battles and contest. Races, berry growing, breeding, trading, saling products you grow, underground like expediction and even trainer classes.
And the possibility to join a team of bad guys :p

Asking Nintendo for any kind MMO is useless. I'd like a more mission based open world game. Also I'd like the chance to train my pokemon in different ways other just then battle with wild pokemon and The abilty to make custom moves like this: your pokemon jumps off a tree, does a move like thunderbolt, lands and hits an aglity enhanced tackle. How does that sound?
