I vote for the wonderful silence that fills the dorm after the Hootchie Patrol finally stomps through the hall for the last time that night and passes out in a shared drunken stupor in their rooms, and you can actually sleep without the constant stomping of thick stilettos surrounding you.

THAT is currently the greatest form of silence I can experience. Rarest, too, unfortunately.

I love the silence of when I wake up on a snow day or a vacation day and coming downstairs. The cats are probably asleep, and no one's in the house. I don't have many houses close to me, and hardly any cars roar past. The Tv's are all off, and the computer is off. This is when I like to gather my thoughts for the day. After about a minute, I turn everything on to get rid of the silence.
