I have a really good idea for an action /comedy animated series. I have submitted it to Cartoon Network for review. The woman in charge of new properties has told me it is a great idea BUT that the Network is only concentrating on comedy shorts EXCLUSIVELY and are not interested in developing an action show. :( I wanted to point out the success of JL and Samurai Jack (not to mention Toonami) but knew I'd be fighting a losing battle. The idea, put simply, is like the Powerpuff Girls mixed with Jonny Quest. It would have funny elements but a lot of action too.

My question-where else should I try to send my proposal? I could send it to the big studios but I cant just send it "blind". I'm looking for studio contacts that would seriously review the property.

Input? :wakko:

you could always try ABC or ABC Family.... we really need more cartoon channels.

Hmm..Cartoon Network might have been your best chance for an action series. Maybe you should try Disney, they seem to be focusing more on action (at least in their last 3 big summer films, maybe this might work on TV ala Gargoyles.)

I don't know if this would work, but perhaps sending it directly to an animation studio such as Hanna Barbera or something would work, heck maybe even sending it over sees like to Clamp.

BTW Can you tell me how one goes about submiting ideas for cartoons to a network?

Well, there are a number of forms to fill out...mostly in lawyer-speak. Cartoon Network faxed them to me. They are mostly releases if they decide to produce the property. I made sure to copyright my ideas before submitting just in case. Then I put together a proposal with a rough outline of the story & characters. Include a number of character sketches and that's about it. I put it all together in a nice package and away it goes.

Disney seems a bit tame for my idea. Although Gargoyles was pretty cool. The WB might work if I could get it to the right person. I may just try to publish a comic version & then try to market it that way. Hanna Barbera pretty much produces through CN. Producing a short may take a greater expertise than I have.

To be honest, there are options out there. I just need to find the right one.

Thanks for the ideas.
