What activities would you do beside watching anime?

Well, erm, I do have a club.

People play DDR, Magic/other TCGs, some people will bring gaming consoles like the Wii... mostly, people just gather around and talk. *shrugs* Make it a comfortable environment is the best advice I can give you.

My anime club (ie the one I go to weekly) has a variety of activities besides watching anime.

We play anime themed games like a scavenger hunt around grounds, do workshops like how to make an AMV, and japanese culture-related arts and crafts like making study headbands for exam week.

We rarely watch anime at our meeting time, but at our scheduled showing meeting we watch anime that the majority don't normally watch (which is ranges from Miyazaki to Death Note).

Well that would depend. Some anime clubs focus a lot of Japanese culture so you might do tea ceremonies and read Japanese literature. Or you might focus more on fandom in which case Cosplay events might be in order. Some might even try translating manga or dubbing anime. Along with that watching a variety of movies, series, OVAs and possibly fan made AMVs. You might also just discuss anime or go as far as to critique them. You might also play video games, board games, card games, and table top games based on or related to anime.

An anime club is more or less a small anime convention with many of the same activities.

BTW, welcome to Toon Zone Tohru. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Mine would likely be poorly run and fold after the first meeting.

If I had any sense at all, I'd leave all responsibilities in the hands of someone more attentive.

I wish my school had an anime club, I'm sure we could get one going though, because 3 of our teachers at our school like anime, so they could help out.

If i were incharge of one, it would consist of watching like partial anime and the rest of the time we meet would be airsoft battles and making a mobile suit (models/ the real freaking thing), then have a good kegger every now and then...

You gotta get into hands on stuff, and being outside!:D

Complain about other clubs and argue amongst ourselves. OR: Business as usual.

Well, my university has a club. Other than watching anime, we are allowed to play trading card games and DS games and have chats, just as long as it doesn't interfere with the regular anime watching.

Outside the club, there are also video game tournaments, trips to Japan-like areas, and I believe Anime Expo counts as a club activity though it doesn't have to be club-related.

Sounds like ours as well.:p Seriously though, we do a gaming marathon with tournaments as a fund raiser, largely focusing on Japanese titles. Also we make t-shirts, but other than that its all anime and bickering.

I would tell the club

All nonbelievers to anime will be strapped to a seat and watch Dub Piece!

then everyone else would go watch a nice hour of Power rangers :D

The club at my school royaly sucks

50% of the club wants to watch stuff they've seen on TV allready

25% of that 50% are just in it for Cosplay and cosplay only because it's supposedly a chick magnet in their minds

20% want to watch live action badly done asian action movies like Volcano High and really couldn't care less about the animation aspect because it's not all action-y like recent movies like 300

40% of the club belive that any anime with the number of female characters that require two hands to count them is hentai

80% try to use armchair/internet business logic because group conversations devulge into console war topic most of the time instead of Anime and it gets scary on how it immitates internet chat room discussions in real life.

Also pretty much everybody hasn't even heard of Haruhi

Also the club regularly lacks funds to do anything and nobody wants to do fundraisers, so it's like always in a rut

Well, the highlight of our last meeting was taking one member's PG Gundam kits and posing them doing questionable things. :D

20th Anniv. Prime approved, though.

I used the run the anime club at the Media Play I worked at. Until it closed.

Aside from watching anime, we would play trivia or "name that theme." We would usually have a bunch of free stuff to give away as well. Not the most involved but, people still had fun.
