I'm guessing quite a few TZers are getting this game, like the rest of the world. I pre-ordered both Diamond and Pearl at Target but I think I'm going to buy it at Walmart if they're selling it at 12:01 in a few hours.

I did do some D/P scouting last night to see if any stores had broken the street date since I read various reports about that. Anyone doing anything special? I might tomorrow just go when my friends buy the games and we're going to trade so we can all have all three starters.

hmm..maybe d/p is big enough in TZ to warrant a trading thread. The only Pokemon I need right now is a non hacked/sharked Deoxys to complete my Pokedex. I can trade Mews/Celebis/jirachis I have a few from Pokemon Journey Accross America and the Toys R Us events.

edit: forgot to make this a poll.....

I was thinking about checking our Wally tonight for D/P, but they're easily the worst Wal-Mart in the nation (or at least the worst I've seen) when it comes to having things I want.

But tomorrow afternoon if they don't have it, my friend and I are going from town to town until we find a copy. After that, it's Poke-party time!

[pokemon spaz mode]Dude, I'll totally trade with you for those event Pokemon. Keep me in mind...[/pokemon spaz mode]

Got my preordered copy at Gamestop about 2 hours ago (as well as my Dialga stylus; and I put down a preorder for Zelda: Phantom Hourglass).

Highlight of my play so far is catching a Starly and naming it "Free Bird".

Pre-ordered Diamond on Amazon a few days ago (along with the Prima players' guide and a Nintendo DS Lite), and it should be here sometime around the end of the month. I'll buy Pearl once my monetary resources are replenished - the whole order ran me about $175.

I plan to start with a Chimchar, since there are literally no other non-NationalDex Fire Pokémon in the game aside from Ponyta and Rapidash. I'll wing it from there, though I'll have to do some research on the WiFi trading system. Something tells me I lack the technology for it.

Just got it, I'll be playing Diamond for as long as I'm able to.
By the way Circuit City has the game for 27.99 while all other places have it for 35$. However Toys R us gives you a free carrying bag with "pen" stylus.

I'm still trying to choose between Piplup and Turtwig. (Chimchar doesn't really grab me)

EDIT: Alright I'll stick with Turtwig and grab Piplup when I get Diamond or if I find someone on-line wanting to trade though the former is more likely to happen. (Obviously I got Pearl today.) I still haven't gotten very far yet but I'm enjoying what I have gotten through.

If you're able to personally drop by whatever Wal-Mart you plan on buying the games from, do so.

I called around sometime last week and they told me the same thing. Today, I ended up having to stop by there.

The kiosk'd DS Lite is off so I turned it on and Diamond screen appears. Didn't watch the whole intro since I assumed it was just a demo copy.

Scan the leftmost section of DS games behind the glass case and see Pearl then Diamond a 3rd of the way down with 5-8 copies of each behind the front ones. At the bottom I notice multiple copies of DS Lites which made me raise my eyebrow since the Polar White DS Lite I just bought from Gamestop was their last one.

So now I'm looking over at the next DS section and at the bottom are like a stack of Diamond and Pearl cases, 30 for each.

Probably your Walmart already has them.

Whew. My Wal-Mart had the game, and they were selling like hotcakes. Since I had things to do, I was afraid I wouldn't make it in time to pick up a copy, but luckily, my friend was able to snag me the second to last copy of Diamond they had.

And, needless to say, I've been loving every minute of it.

Late? Oh, heck no - it shouldn't be on my doorstep until sometime between April 30 and May 2 (I went with free 5-9 day shipping, since it was already expensive enough as it was). Still, I'll probably start with Chimchar anyway - I haven't begun with the Fire starter since my Cyndaquil in Silver.

Oh, and it turns out I do have WiFi capability after all - all I needed was a wireless Internet connection. I'm already making plans to trade with a few of my DeviantArt buddies.

what i don't like is that i found some good pokemon i want to use, but they don't have any good offensive moves yet so i have to do the "switch and level" technique until they learn something >_< irritates me to no end. once magikarp learns tackle though... whoo boy. watch out

my team right now...
puplip L10
starly L10
shinx L10
magikarp L8
abra L6

was raising a bidoof and some sort of bug pokemon, but unless there's something special about them i'm missing, i'll stick with my team of 3 (and 2 tag alongs)

I reserved mine at EB games and I got yesterday... I was curious about the date of release because Wal-Mart here in Puerto Rico had it marked for the 24TH, and the US got it on the 22TH. since I cound't pick it up on Sunday.. I went on Monday and it looked like here in Puerto Rico the release date was the 23rd of April.

I still can't believe it this is the 4th generation of Pokemon... I been playing since Red/Blue/Yellow, it sure has change a lot since those old days. from Link cables.. to Wi-fi connections.

I got Diamond yesterday well as %98 of the kids who were there at EB games. I played till the Eternal forest. looks like it's going to retain the old Spirit of Red blue yellow Gold and silver when the games were more dificult and challenging and the cities were cool.

it is great to be still a part of the Pokemon generation after this past 8 years that I been playing. and the player guide kinda of sucks and they wanted me to reserve the Second volume which includes the Pokedex, I guess they forgot I can check out Serebii.

Anyway.. I chose Poochama(Piplup) in tradition that the first time I always get the Water Starter. This game is really long...

If anyone out there is wondering, there are indeed "suckers" on the GTS. You can get some pretty valuable stuff for next to nothing. For example, trade Bidoof/Starly/other common Pokemon for a level 1 starter. No joke.

I wouldn't call them suckers, just really nice. They did all the work in breeding to get ready for the U.S release cause everyone would be demanding the starters.

Magikarp learns Tackle at Level 15. So it'll only be five more levels after that, but keep in mind that Magikarp levels up really slowly.

Not as Slowly as Geodude. Graveler/Golem Is a standard on my team, and Geodude doesn't change to graveller until 25, then a trade is required for Golem.

This is the longest pokemon game EVER.

All three of the pokemon I use; Torterra, Mismagius, and Luxray, are at level 50, and I`m about to go to the 8th gym. PLUs I haven`t been doing any overtraining.

I gotta say, though, this game has some DAMN challenging battles. The double battle with Mars and Jupiter nearly killed me and my partner, and the final conforntation with the galatic leader(Who BTW is the coolest pokemon villain ever, in that he didn`t randomly turn into a good guy after you beat him in a card gameimean pokemon battle) was tough as hell. He got not one but TWO lucky freezes with his weavile's ice punch. I barely beat him, and would have actually lost if not for revives. This I can honestly say is the first time I've been challeneged so much in a single non-final battle in pokemon since the evil cow gym in gold/silver.

Now, all I need is for someone to tell me how to get Riolu happy enough to evolve into Lucario, who apparently learns the awesomest of awesome moves in the game.

Tapout
04-25-2007, 02:57 PM
If you're looking for difficult battles just play Colosseum. In every other Pokemon game you can basically get powerful Pokemon and power your way through each Cup. Some of the double battles in Colosseum are in my top 10 of most frustrating video game moments ever. The computer actually employs strategy instead of using the same weak moves over and over.

Stupid Magikarp is just as useless with Tackle as without it. IMO its still faster to level it with the good ol' bait and switch technique unless you wanna sit there and use three Tackles on level 4 Pokemon all the way to 20.

8th Gym was a pushover with torterra, as expected. I never knew Yondaime was a gym leader though. :P

Do I need two big hearts for him to evolve? I have a rare candy ready for when it is and I have him wearing the item that increases happiness.

Right now he has 2 small hearts. The guys that have been with me since the beginning that aren`t HM slaves have 2 big hearts. What is the minimum needed to evolve?

I picked up the game about an hour before I had to go into work today, so I've only gotten to play it for about 30 minutes or so. It seems to be fun so far, and I'm really liking the fact that you can actually run inside buildings (a limitation that bugged the crap out of me in the GBA games). The graphics are as bad as I expected, but Pokemon games have never really cared about things like *presentation* before.

My starter was Hikozaru. I know that'll make the first gym difficult, but I like its third form too much to go with the other two.

My laptop's in the shop until Wednesday and my desktop can't run the Nintendo USB thingee (since it isn't running Windows XP), so I won't be able to go online until then. I can't wait.

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from Amazon.com saying that my entire order (Diamond, DS Lite, and player's guide) was going to be delayed until May 14. So I cancelled my order, went down to Wal-Mart, and bought the whole damn thing myself (like I probably should have done to begin with).

Started with Chimchar, just like I planned to. I'm now outside Eterna City with a team of Monferno, Staravia, Bibarel, Luxio, Budew, and Buizel, all between levels 13 and 17. I'm still having trouble with the WiFi features, though - I can't figure out how to configure my DS in order for them to function properly.

EDIT: Finally figured out the WiFi set-up. I already snooped around the GTS building in Jubilife City in my efforts to get the other two starters, and I met a woman in Japan who's willing to trade her Piplup for a Riolu. Some of these traders are pretty outrageous, though - I doubt anybody's going to surrender a Level 100 Deoxys for a Level 1 Turtwig.

Ice types are weak to fighting. Tons of fighters available.

Catching/seeing a Non-Sinnoh Pokemon won't affect your dex.

I beat the E4 a few hours ago, went through some rounds in the Battle Tower without a National Dex and saw non-Sinnoh Pokemon. My dex wasn't affected.

This is odd - I've already found two Skull Fossils in the Underground, yet I can't get the guy at the Oreburgh Museum to take either of them. Do I have to bury one and come back for it later or something? I certainly hope I don't have to trash one of them - I plan to turn them both into Cranidos and then put one up for trade on the GTS in order to get a Shieldon.

And speaking of the GTS, I put a Wurmple up for trade last night before I went to bed. This morning, it had been claimed by someone in Japan who sent me their Level 1 Turtwig (or Naetoru, as I guess I should call it). The thing's already up to Level 16 thanks to the Exp. When you're underground, you select it and choose the option to bag it. It'll end up in the bag you access above ground.

Yeah, I figured that out after futzing around with my Explorer Bag for a few minutes. Finally got me a Cranidos at Level 20.

More GTS follies - recently put up my Zubat in exchange for an Abra (those things are hard to catch when you don't have any sleep-inducing moves). Once I get one, I'm gonna teach it Flash and then hit Wayward Cave - I figure the expedition with Mira will provide me with some good exercise for my Budew, whom I really want to evolve into Roselia before Level 19. I'll probably catch an extra Stunky or two on Route 206 and try to trade 'em to Pearl users for a Glameow and a Piplup.

Yeah, the GTS is REALLY useful. You can't go wrong with all three starters in your party.

My current party has an Empoleon, Torterra, Infernape, Drapion (got Skorupi through GTS as well), Luxray, and...Bibarel. That last one is simply an HM slave.

I also have a Murkrow(a soon to be Honchkrow), Lucario (not really training it, but I'm waiting for a Ditto to breed it with), and Staraptor all in boxes. Plus I have a whole lot of other pokemon I use to trade.

Nintendo makes and owns Pokemon...

So, the odds of a Pokemon game ever being on the PSP is about 1 in never.

One can still hope becouse 1 in never is still more then......oh, nevermind.

The Global Trading System has an unexpected benefit for American players.

We can enter english characters. Japan can't.

They like our names.

Hence why I can get something like a Level 11 Turtwig for something as simple as a Ponyta.

I love this game. Yesterday I decided to honey a tree for the first time, expecting to find something simple like a Burmy or a Cherubi. And what do I find in the tree when I return 12 hours later? None other than an extremely rare female Combee, which I fortunately managed to capture. I thought it was going to take me months to get a Vespiquen, but I guess I can put that theory to bed.

On the downside, nobody at the GTS was going for my Zubat, so I decided to get an Abra the old fashioned way - I remembered that I caught a Gastly at the Old Chateau that knew Mean Look, so I figure I'll equip it with the Quick Claw and go Abra hunting on Route 203.

1) Because GBA is now obsolete.
2) No because Wii lacks a touch-sensitive screen.

Nintendo DS is dirt-cheap now. It'd be insane to miss out on all these games. I mean, I'd understand if you wanted to wait until they hit rock-bottom price but to say you'll never buy one is just plain crazy!

I'm still not all that familiar with the DS' online "capabilities." So once you have a friend registered, you have to either know they're online or roll the dice hoping they will be? There's no lobby type thing, other than the GTS?

Because Mystery Dungeon was a spinoff game, the Pokémon license slapped upon an existing series, a title to be released between major entries in the franchise to keep the fans Pokémon-ing during the gap. Ranger was such a title as well, albeit to a lesser degree.

Diamond and Pearl, however, are bonafide system sellers, without question. People who don't have DS units will buy them simply for Diamond or Pearl - if I ever get a DS, it'll probably be alongside a copy of Diamond. Nintendo may have this image of "be thou for the people" for some reason, but they're a business just like any other, and their goal is to turn a profit, a profit that will be enhanced significantly by the number of DS units sold alongside copies of Diamond and Pearl. They don't have, and never again will have any reason to release any franchise titles on the Advance.

And no, there's no way of playing DS titles on the Wii.

Still no takers for my Ponyta/Piplup trade, but I haven't been back to Jubilife City in a while so I can't be sure. I'm outside Veilstone City at the moment, and I'm thinking I need to do some heavy training to get my Staravia, my Bronzor, and my Mr. Mime (evolved from a Mime Jr. less than an hour after capture!) at the levels they need to be to take on Maylene's gym. I think I'll head back to Jubilife to check the GTS, hitting the VS Seeker pretty hard all the way there so I can rack up the experience points.

The GTS has quickly gone from "awesome feature" to "royal pain in the ass". My Ponyta/Piplup offer was a bust, and whenever I search for people offering a Level 1 Piplup, I get back a ton of people who only want Level 100 legendaries. And it's not just for Piplup, either - every trade I try to set up only brings back people who won't trade for anything except Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina, etc. etc. etc. All I want are the Pokémon I can't get in my version, and nobody's willing to offer them.

So I'm asking here (and in other places): would anybody be willing to do a WiFi trade with me? I'm only looking for the following Pokémon (natures don't make a difference to me)...
- Piplup, male, Level 1
- Bonsly, male, Level 9 or under
- Glameow, female, Level 9 or under
- Misdreavus, female, Level 15-20

Eggs hatch at Level 1 in Diamond and Pearl. It makes more sense, if you think about it, since Pokémon can be found in the wild at levels lower than 5.

I've been playing the game since Red/Blue(Red was my 1st video game along with Pac-Man for the Game Boy Color) and I own Silver, Ruby, and Fire Red(Sold Blue to friend). I haven't touched my PK games for a year. The game seems interesting, and i've read a few articles in Nintendo Power, and my friend got Diamond and said i should get Peral. Ifyou were in my situation, would you get it? I'm still a wee bit undecided..

and also, how easy is it to trade from Ruby/Fire Red to Peral? Do you have to unlock it ala Fire Red?

A few hours later, I checked back to discover that not only had the trade gone through, but the Piplup I received in return was a shiny and came with a moveset of Pound, Aerial Ace, Surf, and Grass Knot. Yeah, I'd get it. The thing with DP is that a lot of fans are getting into it who haven't played the games since Red/Blue/Yellow because of all the positive reviews they've been getting and also because of the new WiFi features. Thirty five bucks for a game you'll still be playing around in years from now isn't a bad deal.

You have to have beaten the Elite 4 in Diamond/Pearl before you can trade from one of the GBA games.

Also, once you trade a pokemon from a GBA game to a DS game, it's there to stay...you can't transfer it back to your GBA game.

That's what I'm worried about with this thing. People are trading hacked Pokemon. Your new Piplup was either Gamesharked or the guy who traded it is a complete moron. Nobody would trade a legitimate shiny for a Magikarp. I don't care how backwards the Japanese players seem to be right now.

If you have emerald, like I do, you can easily clone any pokemon, without any type of cheat device, except the "big 3" legendaries.

god I love having 6 masterballs. No more wasting 30 ultra balls on a legendary with 1 HP left who STILL refuses to be caught.

I also love having my team still on emerald while sending carbon copies to my D/P. hehe.

It's basically a morality issue. In the end, I'll feel better knowing that I was willing to put in the effort.

Well, I'm between the seventh and eighth badge, and woefully low-powered for that fight, especially when you need so many HMs to make that mountain climb, and they're all spread amongst team members. I'm working on getting all HMs down to 2 Pokemon (four each) and naming them "HMMonkey1" or something.

Just so long as you don't use it against Flint. Dual Ice/Grass types do not fare well against the likes of Infernape and Rapidash.

Traded with my DA buddy for a legit Level 1 Piplup, which is now a Level 26 Prinplup. I'm now in Pastoria City, planning to utilize the patch of grass on Route 213 that contains nothing but Buizel, Floatzel, Shellos, and Wingull to get my team ready for the fourth gym - I figure after a few rounds with so many Water types, my Luxio, Roselia, and Grotle should have no problems whatsoever.

I finally connected into WiFi yesterday and here are two pokemon I have obtained thus far through the trades:

- one Shieldon (level 20) for a Misdreavus (level 18). They were asking for a level 9 or higher and as soon as I saw what they wanted I headed out to the "Ghost" Tower and I encountered one in like my second battle there.

- one Piplup (level 1) for a Purugly (level 40). This was just one of those "I'll catch it and see what I can get out of it"; and thanks to Exp Share my level 1 Piplup has since grown and is now a level 25 Prinplup. I guess it was extra that Piplup came with both TMs "Surf" and "Waterfall".

right now I'm offering a Floatzel (level 41) trying to complete my starter collection for an "any level / gender" Chimchar

Use Bibarel, the ultiamte HM slave. He can learn SIX HM moves. Most importantly, the crappy ones like rock climb/break, waterfall, and cut. Ignore fog clear. Well, I bit the bullet and got Diamond, mostly because I have a business trip to Tacoma coming up and I'm gonna be there for a week, and I'm gonna need something to do while I'm on the plane/stuck at the hotel. So far, it's been visually impressive, even though I've only been playing for half an hour.

I wiped out Crasher Wake with ease after getting some quick experience at the Seven Stars Restaurant. Also swung by the Pastoria Great Marsh and caught me an Azurill and a Carnivine (I'll come back for Skorupi and Croagunk later). Currently in Celestic Town, which I managed to get to without the use of Defog - it's probably the most useless HM ever, since after you clear out all the trainers on Route 210, you can just skip it from then on. My Staravia's Aerial Ace eliminated the dilemma presented by the 50% accuracy anyway.

Next matter of business is training my team to take on Fantina in Hearthome City. Luxio and Grotle both know Bite, which should come in handy, but just the same, I think I'm gonna level up my Stunky and maybe head back to Eterna Forest for a Murkrow.

Defog can be learned by Zubat, Golbat, Hoothoot, Noctowl, Crobat, Murkrow, Beautifly, Dustox, Wingull, Pelipper, Piplup, Prinplup, Empoleon, Starly, Staravia, Staraptor, Mothim, Vespiquen, Drifloon, Honchkrow, Stunky, Skuntank, Chatot, Finneon, and Lumineon.

Fly, of course, can be learned by just about any Flying type, many of which already occupy the above list.

Basically, what I'd do if I were you is load up Bibarel with Cut, Strength, Rock Smash, and Rock Climb. Teach Fly to a good Flying type like Staraptor, and Surf/Waterfall can be taken by any good strong Water type. You don't really need Defog to get through the game, if you think about it - it just makes getting through Route 210 a little easier the first time around.

So I beat the Elite 4 yesterday on 2 pokemon and a whole lotta luck

level 67 Torterra (thanks to 5 rare candies I had in storage, i buffed him)
level 52 Palkia
level 50 Uxie and Azelf (sacrificial pokemon)
level 39 Infernape (never saw battle)
level 37 Empoleon (used once)

Oh yeah and I guess I should mention all the money I spent on heals and such: 22 full restores (only 9 left after everything was said and done); 15 full heals (only 2/3 used); and finally 15 revives (didn't have many of these left either)

And I had only two "plus 10 PP on all attacks" to use during the whole thing since I didnt find any in the Dept. Store. All in all I can't believe I beat them with such low leveled pokemon; and the only thing I can attribute it to is great use of items at all the right times (which is where Uxie and Azelf came in handy once both Torterra and Palkia where knocked out)

I'm currently "on" Victory Road. The quotes are because I keep popping in and out to do other stuff, like GTS and Mesprit hunting.

For me, trading has been really awesome. I acquired a shiny Skuntank and a shiny Feebas through depositing at GTS. I got a few Eevee through trading at GameFAQs, which I now have an army of thanks to breeding the one female that I got.

Speaking of, does anyone need an Eevee or a Feebas? I'll gladly breed one up for you if you can offer a decent trade. :D

Very. Lucian caused me to search through a bunch of my captures and balance my team out more (actually, all of the Elite Four did, so I could have enough power left over after beating Lucian...). Bronzong gave me the most trouble till my Infernape learned Flare Blitz. You might try matching your Luxray up against Mr. Mime and your Staraptor up against Medicham.

First of all, the most glaring problem is that your team is all at Level 52, and Lucian's Pokémon are all between Level 59 and 63. Dark attacks are best against Mr. Mime, Alakazam, and Girafarig (Girafarig is part Normal, but its Psychic side cancels out its weakness to Fighting attacks, and since it knows both Psychic and Dark attacks, a Pokémon that's actually of the Dark element like Honchkrow or Spiritomb would be able to withstand a lot of what it dishes out). Flying attacks are your best bet against Medicham, since it's part Fighting. And the only thing that'll take Bronzong down is a good strong Fire attack, but be wary if you use Infernape, since its Fighting side leaves it wide open to Bronzong's Psychic attacks.

torterra, luxray, infernape, staraptor, empoleon, and dialga.

Ah dang, really? That's discouraging.

I usually only level up my Pokemon to level 50 and then stop using them. Why? So I can compete in the level 50 stuff online and against friends. I do not have the patience to get my characters to level 100. Because once they hit level 51 they're only fighting level 100s with experienced fighters and probably the Wii game. Just like XP and C for the Gamecube.

But then again, is it just me, or are the Pokemon leveling up faster in this game. How long does it usually take to get a Pokemon up to level 100? Do you just fight the Elite four fifty times per Pokemon?

I bred a Zubat with the Egg move Hypnosis (breed with Hoothoot). I then levelled it up to about 40, and evolved it into Crobat while learning Mean Look along the way. And wala, I have my Special Ops "Runner" Legendary catcher. It worked for Mesprit, and I'm hoping it works for Cresselia.

The Runner Legendaries are MUCH harder to catch than Dialga/Palkia. Especially Cresselia from what I hear. So if you're going to use it for anything, use it for her.

Hey, at least it isn't as bad as Victory Road in Gold and Silver. In the latest games it's just surf a little, go through a cave, and bam, you're done. In Gold and Silver, you had to surf a little, battle dozens of trainers along the road, and THEN go through the caves.

From what I've heard, if you're going to use a master ball, use it for Cresselia. Her stats are higher then Mespirt's. But man, are they going to be hard to catch.

As for the other two legendaries, it's all about luck and using at least a dozen Ultra or Dusk balls. I spent a bunch of times trying to get Azelf. It even easily escaped six catch attempts when it was almost out of life and asleep. When I finally did catch it, it had only taken two Dusk balls. So ... yeah, luck.

It's annoying to fight I tell you that. Confuse Ray then Hypnosis (with a freaky sucess rate, unless it's the usual 'umbalance' you always feel in those game, like your confused pokémon being so much longer and hurting themselves far more than your opponent's). And the Bronzor I got got Heatproof, protecting it slightly from FIRE moves. It's one heck of an annoying wall.

People have been abusing the GTS left and right, using it to obtain hacked Pokémon. That's why you see all these requests for low-level evolved Pokémon like Alakazam and Skuntank - people hack the Pokémon with super-powerful attacks, then set them at really low levels so that they'll gain better stats through leveling up. At least, I assume that's how it works.

Cheating has been a staple of "Pokémon" since Red and Blue, but the GTS just makes it a whole lot easier.

Unfortunately, no. All Snover and Abomasnow come with the Snow Warning ability - but if you think about it, it's actually quite beneficial for the trainer, since all non-Ice Pokémon receive extra damage as long as Snover or Abomasnow are in battle. The only time you want to be cautious is in a double battle.

Still trying to eventually make my way up Stark Mountain (Tony bought a mountain?), but I'm also trying to make a team with no legendaries or starters... just like all the random trainers in the game.

Although, I'm also working on a 4Chan team (An Unown that is a "b", Seaking, Bibarel, Mudkip, and two others)...

Snow Warning is an Ability; it's a power inherent to any Pokémon of the species, at any level, of any gender. You can't breed away Abilities.

But don't most Pokémon have TWO different Abilities they can get?

If it's not against the rules to ask, how does it work?

I caught my Palkia by entering the fight and just tossing the Quick Ball at it. Insta-catch, just as good as a Master Ball! However, I still wasted a good half hour trying to catch a single Chatot -__-

Can't you just get Charap the Chatot from the kid in Jubilife Town?? Or is that only in Pearl?? I forgot what he asks for it but it's pretty easy. They are also up for trade on the GTS.

I got my female Aipom to reproduce, now I got two male and two female lv.1 Aipom as soon as I get back to some WiFi location I'll put one up on GTS I for something fun... off course I have NO idea what I'd ask for it ^^;; hmmm

Some do, but a Pokémon can only have one Ability, and it's not a changeable characteristic. Once a Pokémon has an Ability, it'll have that Ability forever. I don't know the Ability is picked for hatched Pokémon of a species with 2 possible Abilities.

Isn't it an Everstone who can help transmit the ability of the parent onto the offspring or does that just work on nature?

Oh and anybody got a Dusk Stone they could trade me? ^^; Just attach it to a Bidoof and we could use the WFC at some point to trade. I'd give you one of my Aipom and Armor Fossil or something, got plenty of those.

Poison, you mean the weakest pokemon type ever :P? At least it isn`t as redundant as "rock" which has no reason to exist when "ground" does and is far superiro in every way.

I agree about legendaries though. Since there are so many, some people just go for "legendary tournaments" where you can ONLY use legendaries. I agree that Legendary and non-legendary play should be split.

No kidding. I haven't even been tempted to level up my Cranidos since I got it, given that I can't think of a single scenario in which I'll need to use a pure Rock Pokémon. At least Shieldon is part-Steel.

I don't know if its changed in D/P, but back in R/S Weezing was one of the best tanks there is. Huge defenses and it's Ground weakness eliminated by Levitate. It still got wrecked by a good Psychic (then again, what doesn't?) but could last a long time against anything else.

Yeah abilities really changed a lot of things.

Poison is really only weak to Ground and Psychic moves no? It's also resistant to Fighting types no?

The problem is that poison isn't very effective against much...the most notable being Grass types...when they aren't poison themselves -.-

Scirel
05-31-2007, 12:53 PM
exactly, poison is just like rock in that respect. They're both weak to a super-common type of pokemon(water/psychic) that almost everyone has at least one of on their team.

The only poison I can ever think of being useful would be Doraipon, since his psychic weakness is negated.

Rock is good against flying and bugs XD and I believe is resistant to Dark type moves.

Water is commonly used simply because of Surf and Psychics fall in the 'wild card' category with normals and ghosts, their weaknesses are uncommon and they do normal damage against most types.

Man the depth of Pokémon is so awesome XD just the four moves-six pokés limits were a stroke of genius.

I haven't played the old games since D/P came out but between battles I didn't notice a big difference between R/B/Y/G/S/C and R/S/E/FR/LG. And I don't really notice a difference between third gen and D/P

However I do notice how SLOW the original games are compared to the new games, no running shoes make a HUGE difference, especially since you don't get the bike until way later.

You probably should have just kept throwing Ultra Balls at it. It's capture rate is so high that a lot of people catch it at full health with an ultra ball.

WHAT? LOL.

Bird pokemon are good, but far from most powerful (unless your talking about the legendaries).

Best type IMO is Water. all great Pokemon are water: Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Blastoise, Wailmer, Wailord, and even Ludicolo. Plus they are effective against alot of types.

Actually you can. In the Battle Tower.

And I think he meant the flying/normal you pick up at the begining often ends up becoming a power house by the end of the game. I know my Swellow, Altaria and now Staraptor are all potent killing machine. Flying types are like wild cards that can take on just about anybody that isn't electric or ice powered toe to toe. If you don't have a pokémon with an advantage against your opponent, send in the flyer! Normal/Flying make for great sweeper because they have great ATK and great SPD most of the time. Heck I think my Staraptor got the best ATK of my entire team :p even greater than Palkia!

and the most powerful type is Dragon who only has two weaknesses, including itself. Steel is pretty potent too because there's like...only two or three types that can inflict normal damage to Steal -types... though Water is pretty good too. Heck Palkia takes normal damage from Ice attacks thanks to his Water type!

But like Normal they inflict normal damage against most types, so they're very versatile.

Though if you want to go for the 'effective against much stuff' then yeah...Water and Ground types usually have it made.

And I just can't seem to figure out the other two I should use. Maybe I'll decide once I finally get the National Dex. Right now I have Dialga and Golem filling up my other slots, but I don't plan on raising them to be part of my main party.

I concur. A level 45 Grass type with Razor Leaf (or anything decent with Magical Leaf) can take out Cynthia's Gastrodon apparantly. Plus Bertha uses ground types.

I dunno which one you should go for... I had my Torterra so it wasn't much of a big choice. I don't know how good Roserade, Cherim and others are...

For any of the starters people want lv.100s or Legendaries....Well starters are pretty popular, I go for easier and easier to get Pokemon and Even Bidoof are only traded if you have a Palkia/Dialga?? No matter what Pokemon they either want a hard/legendary or a high level Pokemon...very dissapointed...
