1. Dragon Ball/Z - This show introduced me to anime. At first I thought it was stupid and the characters were ugly, but somehow I just started watching it, and I loved it. I loved the characters, the fights, and everything about the show. Now I see how dragged out and ridiculous it was, but it's still awesome and my favorite anime of all time.
2. One Piece - I've been watching a lot of it lately. This series has great characters and character development, and the plots are great (Alabasta was teh pwnage). Oh yeah, I can't forget to mention the great BGM.
3. Bleach - It has great action scenes and a ton of cool characters. While the plot isn't that deep, it's still an awesome series that I love watching. The background music and most of the OPs and EDs are also teh roxorz.
4. Death Note - This is one of the most intense series ever. It hooked me and wouldn't let go. It was painful waiting two months for new volumes of the manga to come out. The anime adapted the manga extremely well. The music and animation fits the atmosphere perfectly, and I'm looking forward to hearing Viz's dub.
5. BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad - This is an amazing slice-of-life anime. In fact, it's so good it inspired me to start playing the guitar. It's a shame it only got one season. I'd kill for more episodes. I can't wait for FUNimation's release.
6. Naruto - Great action, characters, and plot. It gets pretty boring sometimes, but it's really good most of the time. Sasuke is a frickin' idiot, though.
7. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Actually, when I first saw it, I saw the first three episodes and wasn't quite impressed with it. But after constantly hearing how awesome it was on the internet, I just started watching again to see what all the fuss was about. Good thing I did, because this series if frickin' awesome. I can't wait until the new season. (I love the OP and ED!)
8. Blood+ - This show has great characters and action scenes. The soundtrack is also one of my favorites. But, while it was awesome for most of the series, the last arc was just not good.
9. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - This is a very intellectual and interesting series with great action scenes. It's animation is breathtaking. Sometimes it's really hard to understand, though.
10. Koi Kaze - This series was simply amazing. I don't usually like watching series again, but I liked it so much that I'm planning on buying the box set soon. I actually watched the first episode without knowing anything about it. Then when I saw the summary on AnimeNewsNetwork, I was a little disgusted, but I kept watching. It is such a good series. Every episode left me wanting more. It also has an exeptional soundtrack. Although I must admit there is one scene which I hated and made me lose all respect for the characters, it was anime-only. I think the people that watched it will know what I'm talking about. And the ending song.... ugh. But other than that, the series was really awesome and thought-provoking. It's not for everyone, though. It's a shame that the manga probably won't ever be licensed over here.
Like many anime fans,my favorites change as I see new series...
My top 5...
Fullmetal Alchemist....one of the most addictive series I've ever seen, anime or otherwise (I've seen all the TV episodes several times)...and one of the few where I like nearly all of the characters (it helps that, for the most part, the characters aren't simply "good" or "evil")...
Inuyasha....while I readily admit the manga's better, the anime is good in it's own way,and both versions have decent action and romance scenes, and I like most of the cast (and I even liked most of the "filler" episodes, which I can't say for many anime)....only downside is,the anime doesn't really have an ending(hopefully, the manga will)...
Bleach....A recent fave of mine...a very funny show (as of now,my favorite scenes involve Ichigo and Ganju;they play off one another well...I also like Kon whenever he's around...)
Fruits Basket....I first started watching the series because I'd heard it was funny(and it is),but I also enjoy the drama of this series...My only complaint with the series is that it's too short(though at least the manga continues after the anime ends)...
Yu Yu Hakusho....I first started watching the show when it was on Adult Swim, and it hooked me right from the start(though I STILL haven't seen all the episodes...Cartoon Network kept changing the timeslot,so I haven't seen beyond the mid 50's...though I've been getting the two-disc DVD sets,so I hope to eventually finish the series)....Unlike most shonen series I've seen, the fights don't seem to drag on forever (or maybe it's just for some reason, they seem interesting)...
and 6-10...(sorry,I don't feel like typing anymore)
