Anime Boston is this weekend. In recent years, Anime Boston has been the main “pre-Anime Expo” convention when it comes to new title announcements. As a result of this, I, as my usual public service, have made this thread to cover all the news that comes from the industry panels at Anime Boston.
The current schedule for the major industry events are as followed:
FRIDAY:
3:00 – Funimation Panel
5:00 – ADV Premiere (most likely will be a show that has already been announced)
SATURDAY:
10:00 – Geneon Panel
11:00 – Bandai Visual Panel (wonders if it will be as interesting as the one at Sakuracon)
3:00 – ADV Industry Panel
4:00 – Bandai Entertainment Panel
7:00 – Manga Entertainment Panel
As for what to expect announcement wise, the current video programming schedule for Anime Boston does suggest that we can expect Kiba and D. Gray-Man to have an “official” licensing announcement.

I know most of the focus will mostly be One Piece but I hope Funi finally announces the release of School Rumble

Actually I believe the big One Piece panel is at Anime Expo this year but people will surely ask questions. Hopefully we'll get a cast list. They'll need to get dubbing soon afterall.
And yes please someone ask ADV when SGT Frog is coming to DVD and if it will come to TV (no need to mention what network, I'm sure they'll know what you mean if you just say "no TAN").

Probably too early for D.Grayman but eh... stranger things have happened.
At the very least I'd expect Buso Renkin get picked up before D.Grayman simply because Buso is only one season.

FCC regulations? What? It's airing on CN, so this guy must have been confused about the exact details.
I hope this all gets sorted out.
Glad to hear dates for Slayers and other series.

Wouln't be supprised if the censorship stupidity is all Toei's faut at this point. The FFC line suggests a lack of knowlage and Toei's all about not knowing crap about stuff like that.
That said, Funimation have the breaking strain of a kit-kat at times. Dective Conan springs to mind Imediately.

I know. There's no such thing as FCC regulations for smoking content, or any kids' show content. The only thing they regulate in regards to childrens' programming is related to commercials and advertising.

Tsubasa extras sound nice. Was hoping I'd be able to preview Aquarion sooner than the fall, but at least a date is set.

So tv rating criteria doesn't involve smoking then? There's some lobby pushing for Rs on films with smoking and they'll probably move to tv at some point

In particular, while Slayers (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=657) and Revolutionary Girl Utena (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=207) are now finding their way to cable broadcast

I think by FCC he meant BS&P instead, just a slip. Network excecs can ask for edits ya know.

I was at the Funi Panel. I asked about Mushishi :D Yup like it says there July 31st! He had something about FCC not allowing cigarettes right on the slide show. I don't know I was kind of confused about that too. Also at the ADV panel they showed the first episode of Innocent Venus.

I really wouldn't surprise me if there is rules against smoking. Even if there isn't networks would make some, so who cares where it comes from?
I wish HunterXHunter would be announced :p
Or at least someone is releasing Garo subbed.

I asked about Mind Game.
They didn't know what it was.:crying:
After giving some details, they seemed interested in the film and said they'd look into it.:D

Probably not, I'm guessing.

Ask him if he has gotten any word on another 25 episodes to Berserk (maybe a 6 episode OVA about the first part of the manga and then another 25 episodes to catch up on what Miura-san has written since the first 25 episodes were released)??
Please.

That BECK stuff sounds awesome.
More Berserk would always be good, but it's starting to look more and more doubtful.

One question asked by an audience was the status of Kodocha. Contradicting statements that were made at Anime Boston 2004, they now say that they have the rights to the first half of the series, or "first two seasons" as they're calling it. At AB 2004 when we had the little plastic baka hammers handed out, it was emphatically stated after being asked as to whether they have all of it. While sales numbers have obviously not been discussed publicly, the anecdotal evidence has been that the title is a poor seller. Kodocha may become the first series from FUNimation to not see a full release (discounting the missed episodes of Dragon Ball Z of course).
Damn it!!!
I just got into the show thanks to a few dun clips I saw and bought the first box set last month and now I find out that they're not going to finish it

I can see why they'd drop it, given all the flac they got in regards to all the music nonsence. But droping it is something of a cardianal sin against the church-d-fanboy.
Speaking of comedys, did ADV say anything in regards to them picking up the pace of geting anywhere with Keroro?

Wow, that Funi panel is mostly verbatim what said at SakuraCon, including the Kodocha stuff and the Gaia-Tsubasa news.

Don't suppose anyone can ask Manga if they're ever going to get around to rereleasing Perfect Blue, or Bandai Entertainment if there's any news on when Canada will be getting the second half of Eureka seveN?

(http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6660) Hehe... so Geneon denying that they had it a week ago was just them covering for it being revealed before their liking. ;) Well I'm happy it's licensed; I enjoyed it when I watched it previously and would buy it in R1.
