It was an action-platformer where you drew your own character/monster, collected other monsters to play as, and fight enemies and bosses while exploring multiple levels. Very fun, underrated game. Music composed by Yasunori Mitsuda of Chrono fame.

Yeah, I have played it. It's a decent game, but I kinda wished that it had more emphasis on drawing to deal with the task at hand. Like say, creating a boat or sub to deal with a vast ocean, a fat creature to push down a switch, or a monster with big arms to carry a boulder. As it is, it's just a typical platformer with a doodle function.

I have/had a lot of fun creating characters and marveling at others' works, but in the end there is very little game to play. I wonder...what doodles you have made? Myself, I tend to favor simplicity and original characters, although I made a pretty close likeness of Chuck Norris from Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos. I find that, when viewing some of the Japanese works, sometimes putting too much effort into details creates a sloppy and jumbled look. 'Course, too much simplicity can create an incomplete look, and since my favorite clothes (big straw hats and robes) are nigh-impossible to create in this game, it sometimes becomes hard to make a truly "finished" design.

You can check here for my older creations:

As you can probably tell, faces are my biggest problem, more so in Graffiti Kingdom than Magic Pengel (as the latter is a a lot more accurate with the pattern tool, and the way the models are rendered makes modest mistakes look OK all things considered).

I certainly wish that the game was a bit more popular outside Japan, as I love to see others' creations. If you know how to work the system, you can create amazing designs.

One of my friends in my anime club has this game and some of the creatures he created for it were incredible! He even made a dead on Trogdor the Burninator to use in the game...fire breath and all!

The art system in this game is very good! Strongly recommended if you can look past the kiddie graphics. ;)
