Did anyone else on the forum catch this show on FOX? Its 2-hour premiere was Sunday, April 15th, and was also on again last night. According to the ads, Monday at 8:00 will be its normal day and time.
Personally, I enjoyed the premiere, and only got to catch about half of last night's episode. It was nice to hear the name of a city near my own (that city being Ashland, Ky.)
I have hopes for this drama. I enjoy the fact that it's not centered around supernatural mysteries, like Heroes and Lost (though both shows are good in their own right). Here's to hoping it doesn't get cancelled!

I caught all three hours and really enjoyed it. :) Granted, there's a bit of supsension of belief (how do "they" have people everywhere?) but it's pretty awesome. I love the mix of characters.
Plus, MAL! :anime: What's not to like. :p
Haven't heard anything about the ratings yet, though. Hope it was good enough to get a full season (unless this is midseason replacement or something..)

I think I read somewhere that it is a mid-season replacement, but I don't know what that means :(
And yes, the mix of characters is grand! My personal favorites so far are the father who's dying (I'm not too familiar with the names yet) and the "Orientation Man".

I really enjoyed this show! The episode on Mon. was a little bit slower untill we got in that black car and really kicked some butt!
The problem is, now whenever I get on the freeway I have the urge to start weaving in and out of traffic at 100 MPH. Anyone else have this problem?

I think I read somewhere that it is a mid-season replacement, but I don't know what that means :(That just means it's a new show that started in the middle of the TV season, it's not a cause for concern. It it performs well, it will likely be renewed and placed on the fall schedule.

Good point. I was wondering why I felt compelled to watch this, and now I know why. There are at least five more supernatural dramas coming this fall, all of which tread familiar ground.
It's even more far-fetched than Prison Break, but what makes or breaks a show like this isn't the premise, but the characters. IMO the characters have to be interesting enough from the get-go, and they can't be flat stereotypes.
The good news is, they're not. Each character has an interesting background (except for the three women in the truck) and I want to see what happens to all of them--though the main title sequence spoils a couple of things if you look closely.
Violet is alone in her car.
A few of the people (like the main male lead that wants his wife back) are terrible actors, so the show isn't perfect. But most importantly, it keeps up its pace well enough to replace Prison Break effectively. I didn't know if I was going back to that rebooted show this fall, and if this does well enough, I won't have to.

I really wanted to check this out, I really did. But FOX had to give us a two-hour premiere? On a Sunday night? Sorry, but I just can't take that kind of time right now. I'll be collecting episodes to watch in a big batch down the line. I saw the latter half of last night's ep and it looks really interesting, so here's hoping.

I like the acting of the man who plays Alex (Nathan Fillion, thanks silverwings), but my biggest gripe is with the newborn's mother character. I don't know if it's the character herself, or the way the actress executes the role, she annoys me. Of course, I suppose this could be the character's purpose at the moment, but I would hope that's not the case.
I haven't watched "Prison Break", so I can't comment on its pacing, but I will agree that thus far this show is paced very well, although Monday's episode was a tad slower than the first two. In a series based around a car race, I don't think we should expect many to be slow paced episodes. Like I mentioned, I have hope for this series, and think they will prove to be satisfying.

Watched all three episodes today taped in a mini-marathon, and I think it's okay. Not impressive, but I guess I'll keep watching for the moment.
I'm not really invested in any of the characters, but they did a decent job considering at one point the guy who gives them all the information states via cell phone that there are 42 racers at the start... thank goodness they didn't introduce them all at once. At the same time, that might mean some of these early racers won't be lasting long...
Am I wrong in thinking that the girl who plays Violet looks like Lindsey Lohan? You know, before all the tabloid crap she's been doing? She's cute...
I should be thrilled by a racing show, but it hasn't grabbed me just yet. It's got a couple weeks... let's see how things shake out.

I watched it for Nathon Filiion, and overall thought it was pretty entertaining and a good time waster. Unfortunately so far it's been a bomb in the ratings, so who knows how long it will last.

That's so unfortunate. A drama worth watching finally appears, and chances are it'll get canned. You know, I do so hate the act of shows getting cancelled after only just a few episodes, but it seems it has become commonplace among all of the major networks. Television needs more faith =/
So, instead of "Drive" we might get to see the birth of the latest reality show hit in the coming weeks!

P.S. Thanks to the moderator who fixed the thread title for me. A question...does posting "spoilers" in the title mean nobody has to use spoiler tags? I don't know how to use them :(

A question...does posting "spoilers" in the title mean nobody has to use spoiler tags? I don't know how to use them :(Provided you are discussing stuff that has happened and aired on TV, no. If you're bringing in things that you have read that are going to happen and haven't aired yet, spoiler tags should be used to be considerate of those who want to watch the show without it being spoiled.

Executive Producer Tim Minear (Angel) has worked on some very interesting and notable series in the past, most notably Firefly, along with Wonderfalls and The Inside, all of which were pulled way too quickly by FOX - the same network airing Drive
Ah, well, NOW everything makes sense. Except for the fact that Minear keeps running back to Fox.

When I saw the previews for this show I thought it looked pretty bad. I was slightly interested because I liked Firefly.
After watching this show my suspicions were confirmed, I really don't like it this show. It feels like a mashup of other movies and reality tv shows. The first three hours were really predictable. Speaking role? Not in the race? Probably one of them.
The highway looked too consistent through the beginning, and inconsistent with the location they are supposed to be in.
Logistical question, do these cellphones ever need to get charged?
Probably will get canceled. Fortunately, I don't care who wins.

The newest episode premiered last night. Did anyone else catch it? I for one am continuing to support the show, and really do hope cancellation isn't in its future.
Although the lack of the father/daughter team was saddening, I must say I enjoyed the chemistry among the Alex/lady partner/Brothers characters, and hope the partnership lasts atleast a few more episodes before the eventual split-up.
The return of the two females in the red care was a welcome surprise, and the ending being laced with cliffhangers, although a trait familiar with Lost and Heroes, seems to be effective because the show seems to be answering them on a timely basis.

The high point of this one was right after the "banished" girls got hit and survived.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah....I think we're---" *WHAM AGAIN!!!* *commercial for a cell phone*
Here's something interesting: if you pay close attention to Fox's opening bumper for this series, you'll see everyone's driver's licenses. Corrina's is the only one that has no state; hers just says "Anywhere, USA."
This is also the first episode that didn't end with the characters crossing the finish line. It's anyone's guess if the military couple will.
I didn't think Ivy could drive, either. 9_9

Good news was they only filmed six episodes.
Bad news is that fox doesn't know if they want to air the rest.
Honestly, why won't fox allow to show to grow into an audience? Secondly, they should have aired this *after* 24 and used 24's popularity to boost the show's ratings.

24 has been in that timeslot for like 4 years. They are not gonna move it just so a mid-season replacement might get better ratings

I'm really annoyed at Fox's lifelong failure to ever stick with a show and HELP it become a success. If Fox was a hospital, they'd have a giant ditch out back where they bury all the patients who come in with a twisted ankle.

-TerminatahThe smarter thing to have done would be to move House, which needs no help anymore, to 8pm on Mondays, then Drive could've shifted to its old spot following American Idol. With the huge audience coming from that show, they'd have gotten much better numbers.

But Fox doesn't have any 10 PM shows. After posting my suggestion, I did notice that my local Fox just has a daily news show in the 10pm slot. But whether they could have placed Drive after American Idol, or 24, or whatever, the point is they should have done something to build an audience. For a show to start off as a lead-in and then not deliver ratings is not exactly shocking. But then, it's also not shocking that Fox doesn't know how to schedule a show.

But the problem is they needed a show @8PM on Mondays now that Prison Break is done. They could either run repeats of a current show, premiere a new show or move a current show to a new timeslot. Given those premiering a new show is the best option.

With Heroes being one of the best new series of the 2006/2007 season, I think Fox, when it comes to competition, is better off having a guarenteed hit like 24 air against it than a new series.

Do that though then you have the Lost/AI problem. Airing a hit show against another hit show cuts into the audience, which is a loss of ad revenue. Back to Drive though, it was a stupid thing that Fox did by having a 2 hour premier on Sunday night, especially going up against NBC and ABC's ratings juggernauts.

I just came back from a movie premier & after party where Nathan Fillion attended (he was in the movie). And was chatting with him and told my wife (who loves Drive) that they were just cancelled. So my we asked who won the race. He said they never got that far. And as of the last episode we wasn't in the lead. His girlfriend and my wife decided that he won. :D

I think I might add Nathan Fillion to my list of cursed actors. Here's the list so far:
RON ELDARD
- Generally under-radar movie career.
- Main character on American Britcom remake "Men Behaving Badly." Left after Season 1, show was cancelled by NBC halfway through Season 2.
- Voiced the villain in Joel Schumacher's "Phone Booth," but was entirely redubbed with Kiefer Sutherland.
- Main character on "Blind Justice," cancelled by ABC after 13 episodes.
- HOWEVER -- Has minor roles in several good movies.
RENA SOFER
- Main character on American Britcom remake "Coupling," cancelled by NBC after 4 episodes.
- Joined the main cast of NBC's "Just Shoot Me!" in Season 7. There was no Season 8.
- Main character (opposite Ron Eldard) on "Blind Justice," cancelled by ABC after 13 episodes.
- Guested on prematurely cancelled shows such as "Opposite Sex," "Cursed" (later renamed "The Weber Show"), and "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place."
- HOWEVER -- Is currently enjoying recurring roles on NBC's "Heroes" and FOX's "24" (opposite former co-star Eldard's "Phone Booth" replacement, Kiefer Sutherland).
CYNTHIA WATROS
- Main character on "Titus," cancelled by Fox after Season 3.
- Replaced female lead on "The Drew Carey Show" in Season 8. Season 9 was pushed back by ABC for a full year, then burned off during the following summer (and quietly cancelled).
- Joined the cast of ABC's "Lost" and was killed off prematurely because the character they had planned on killing off wasn't popular enough.
- Shot a pilot for CBS called "My Ex-Life" that was not picked up.
- Recently guested on NBC's "Raines," whose future is currently uncertain.
- HOWEVER -- Is just a cutie pie.
NATHAN FILLION
- Joined the main cast of "Two Guys and a Girl" (formerly "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place") in Season 3, cancelled by ABC following Season 4's cliffhanger finale.
- Main character on "Firefly," cancelled by FOX during its first season.
- Main character on "Drive," cancelled by FOX after 4 episodes.
HOWEVER -- Enjoys something of a cult following, with plum gigs such as the Firefly movie "Serenity" and guest spots on shows such as ABC's "Lost" (which has yet to show a flashback explaining the storyline of the character played by Cynthia Watros).

Nightwing,
He was very nice. Chatted with him a few times at the after-party. Once when we were waiting for my wife and his gf to come out of the bathroom. And the other we both when up to where the servers were getting food to score an extra milkshake. The last time was when my wife went up to his table and discussed Drive.
On a final note. I never realized how tall Nathan is.
