I doubt AS is really serious at all with the threat about getting rid of ASA anime but I wonder if they're even semi serious about the promise of getting enough people to see the ATHF movie and they'll play and anime you voted for. Would be a good reason to see it anyway. And to you anime fans: There's a Paprika trailer attached to it so you know another reason to see it anyway.

Hmm the closest theater showing ATHF movie is an hour away, but if they'd really get rid of Saturday comedy (die oblongs!) and let us vote on whatever anime we'd like, it'd be worth the drive. Although knowing AS they're probably just full of crap like usual  But ohhh the possibilities!

I doubt they were serious in their bump about Saturdays and the ATHF movie, but I brought the idea up of letting fans vote for what anime [as] should air for the 1 AM hour a long while ago on their boards. I still think its a pretty neat idea.
And their Upfront is on April 26th.

Remember that we are dealing with Adult Swim. You should only believe about half of what their bumps say. Though it would be pretty cool to be able vote for anime.
It was #13 at the box office.
Don't be so negative. It actually did well for per-theater average and has made at least four times the amount of money it took to produce.
It's been the only show premiering for a while. So technically, it would be #1, because everyone who shows up on the Fix sees it first whether they want to or not which is a rather brilliant piece of advertising. Popularity wise on TV, they seem pretty much equal with Bleach, and both shows have a rather loud internet fanbase.
Why isn't Bleach on the fix anyway? Licensing issues with Viz?

Doubtful, seeing that 75% of Toonami Jestream's content belongs to Viz. Adult Swim likes to keep some shows TV premiere only. Most recently for comedy would be the premiers of Moral Oral (but they did arrive on the Fix later).

But Inuyasha doesn't stream either, so it's quite selective on Viz's part. Blood+ also doesn't stream. The only anime streaming on the Fix are licensed by Geneon, Bandai, or FUNimation.
If Inu-Yasha was on the Fix, the AS servers would overload.

Well, it did take FMA quite a while to make it's way on. Unfortunately, since it doesn't seem to be doing well right now on the Fix, I can't blame AS for not adding more anime.

Also keep in mind that the ATHF movie was playing in only 800 theaters, which suggests that the film may have made more (and possibly broke into the top 10) if it was playing in more locations.

Well last week's are interesting. The Oblongs beat out the Boondocks and ATHF beat out one of the Family Guy showings which. Wonder where all the Futurama viewers are.
Sat's ratings reinforce the Bleach = Tim And Eric in relative popularity theory. To be fair, nothing WS original or anime (except for Aqua Teen because of the movie) has a chance because of the Family Guy juggernaut.
Promos with Tim and Eric weirdness alongside Bleach to advertise the different facets of Adult Swim (Orihime/Married News comparison FTW) might be the best thing ever...if Bleach got ads.
Also, it looks like Boondocks reruns...aren't very popular.
Master Moltar
04-16-2007, 01:17 AM
Something must have been going on for Futurama to draw so poorly last week. By the way, the Sunday rankings bump airs before Tim and Eric, so if anyone catches the rerun later tonight, could they grab the rankings for March 25th?
ATHF beating out a showing of Family Guy is interesting. It seems like the casuals only watch one showing on [as]. Oblongs outperforming Boondocks is also kinda interesting. Yeah, Boondocks is weak in reruns, but still, it usually can at least make the Top 3.

The way I see it, AS has three options in regards to Saturday's schedule. Either return it to an all anime night, put Futurama back in the lead-in spot, or try some different shows in the first half hour slot(instead of a full hour). The combination of the Oblongs and Boondocks is not helping the ratings at all it seems, I mean, has either of those two shows been number one since they started on Saturday?

Well, Tim and Eric get about 100,000 more viewers than Bleach, so they're not exactly equal. Though, it's not really fair to compare Saturday numbers to Sunday numbers.

Also, Murphy seemed more intelligent.

Just to add to that
Outside of Robot Chicken, I don't think any WS original has come close to numbers like that consistently. For a show on it's 10th episode to (apparently) come in 4th every sunday, I'd say they're doing pretty well.

That's a problem with Inuyasha in general: EVERYTHING is always blamed on the male partner of the relationship and the female always gets away with the accusations and insults while the male usually gets punished for whatever reason. Whether it's Sango/Miroku and espically Kagome/Inuyasha (though Sango does seem a lot more possessive in a sense. Probably since Miroku's such a flirt and all). Eh at least she admitted blame too in the end and some progress was made. Too bad Miroku just can't stop being a perv otherwise the relationship would just be complete by now.

I consider Eiichiro Oda(Creator of One Piece) is the Anti-Rumiko Takahashi. He portrays both genders equally. He knows that when the main bad guy is defeated, it doesn't mean the series is over. And if anything we seen in the designs of several characters, Oda lovesthe western culture.

Well not entirley (I mean there is still some Nami whapping Luffy moments without getting whapped back. If he was really anti he wouldn't have that at all) but that is a good point. Oda also dosen't give into annoying incredibley slow moving love triangles/quardrangles, actually has every character in the main group contribute something in an arc (or at the very least don't stand around like useless mopes) and always adds on new characters and twists and keeps them without snapping things back.

258,000-185,000=73,000 toddlers watching Adult Swim. And yet you do realize that this number is an estimate based on the how many people one box is representative of. Quite frankly one parent could be up late taking care of a 2-5 year old while having Adult Swim on TV, and record it in their Nielson log book - which would then translate in to a figure that is an estimate of how many in the entire country.
I wouldn't put much stock in the number...
Now, if that wasn't material for a Sango/Inuyasha pairing, I don't know what is. Drunk Sango realizes she's only in love with Miroku because she doesn't want to get in the way of Kagome/Inuyasha and thus has to settle for second place. Her true feelings are revealed!
Oh, and the Kazana-vac commercial is still great.
It just occurred to me...
Is the ATHF movie the first R rated movie Adult Swim has advertised for? I remember back when the block was founded they had ad limits (No beer and No R Rated movies being the big ones) and they've stuck by them. Could this hopefully be a switch?

Hmmm I believe this is the first movie AS advertised that was rated R. Could just be a onetime exception though since it is they're movie and all. (To be fair they really should of aired "cleaner" ads of the ATHF movie on regular CN and not just Adult Swim but doubt even a movie airing would convince the censors to forgoe that rule). I doubt it will be the norm though. But I guess time is the only true way to know for sure.

How long is that that ATHFCMFFT as with Meatwad, Frylock, & Boxy Brown been on? I want to say a few days but I'm not 100% sure. I like the ad myself- the part where Frylock keeps shooting Meatwad down is great.
There's nothing quite like watching "Baseball Blues" during the actual baseball season. Especially since the hottest Japanese pitcher yet, Daisuke Matsuzaka, is pitching this evening. Coincidence?
