Definitely, guys. They're playing great so far. And with the great performance by U2 and seeing McCartney with JB and the guys (and the announcement that Macca will be on tour later in the year), this is shaping up to be one hell of a night.

Woohoo! I'm not a big football fan, but that was tense. I thought that they were going to lose it somehow. Congrats to all fellow New Englanders. :D Now I'm just wondering what kind of mayhem will be inflicted upon the campus. I can already hear the kids screaming like crazy outside.

O my god..that was such a good game. I though it was going to overtime, which would make the first overtime in Superbowl history, but the Patriots went for the 48 yrd. kick! That was one of the biggest upsets in Superbowl History and I'm glad I watched it. What are your thoughts?

It was just incredible. I really don't think you could ask for more in a game. The Patriots played great, the Rams didn't give up, and the ending was definitely tense. This has to be one of the greatest Super Bowls.

What a freaking great Super Bowl! First you have a great World Series. Then now you have one of the greatest if not greatest Super Bowls ever!!! Hey, I predicted the Pats to win, of course I said 36-35 with some outlandishness, but hey it's all good! I love how they introduced theirselves as a team, that's when you realize that they were different, something special. Screw the Rams! Screw Kurt Warner!! Woohoo!!!

WHAT BLOODY TRIPE
the better team lost today
i have a number of things to say about this game and the direction of championship teams in general but im too damn mad to post any of it right now
my gripes begin with the thought that its patriotic to want the pats to win, somewhere in the middle compare the difficulty of schedule and route to the big game, and end with the fact that there should have been time left on the clock after that final FG

I was surprised, I didn't expect the Patriots to win. That was a pretty good game.

Now that was a gg. It even had a Hollywood ending thanks to Adam Vinatieri. Very, very close game.

I think this game was evidence that all you have to do his hit, hit, and hit Kurt Warner until he starts getting happy feet. This guy has no toughness at all, I'm so glad the Rams lost.

No one's going to say it's more patriotic that the Patriots won. It's kind of cool that they bear that name, given the recent tragedy, but no one's going to say there's anything wrong about backing the Rams. In general, I think people root for the underdog in the Super Bowl.
Second, it's never easy getting to the Super Bowl. Just looking at the playoffs themselves, the Patriots had to beat the Raiders, the number-one seeded Steelers, and then Rams. You can't call that easy in any sense. The Rams did have a harder regular season, but like you said, they also have more talent. Probably more than any other in the league. They didn't really struggle during the season, so I can hardly say that's unfair. When it came time to perform in the big game, the Rams didn't.
Complaining about the time left on the clock seems a little much. There were 7 seconds left as they prepared to kick. Even if the clock had stopped following the kick and score, there wouldn't have been more than a couple seconds left. It was all dependent on the kick. If the Pats scored, the game was theirs. Everybody knew it, including the Rams.

my biggest gripe is a more overall gripe about the general direction of the NFL
if another defensive giant with an average-ok offense wins next year im gonna be dissapointed

Well, if the Rams werent so arrogant and overconfident and didn't think turnovers were so insignificant they would've won. If it was a best of 7 series, the Rams would've won, but give the Pats credit, they showed up while the Rams didnt.
As for a defensive giant winning the SB again, the Pats defense wasnt even that good, although they came through yesterday. They were 24th in the regular season and allowed over 400 yards yesterday. Blame Mike Martz for thinking someone like Warner could lead his team to victory. How does Marshall Faulk, the best player in the game, only touch the ball 21 times in the most important game of the year?

I can't argue with that. I've been more than disappointed in the league the last couple seasons. But this years Super Bowl was great. I can't deny that. After the crap we saw in last years game between Baltimore and NY, I wasn't expecting much this season. However, there was definite improvement in the level of play. The season gives me hope that the NFL can rise back up again. Probably won't happen, but we'll see.

So true. I've been more than unimpressed with Martz. He's an idiot. I remember that one game when he wasted the Rams last time out on Coach's Challenge that would only get them a couple more yards. That's ridiculous. The Rams did win the game, but got no help from bone head moves liek that. It's not just talent that matters, it's also the coaching. That could have played a role in their loss yesterday.

ahh #1 warner is the best qb in the game -- hands down. look at his numbers, his accuracy, the way he can hit his recievers in stride, the speed at which he gets the ball away (that is when the other team isnt ALL OVER his recievers and nothing is called......) i think they will work on his ball-carrying skills some in the offseason so we can do more qb sneaks and quick runs on 1--3 and short
#2 martz is the best damn offensive coordinator in the game-- perhaps ever. his problem is that unlike us (and unlike he did in 99) he cant sit upstairs and see everything from the overhead-- he has to make guesses from the field. he knows what he wants to do but i think that he at times has a difficult time reading a defensive formation-- something that his offensive coordinator should be doing and feeding him information on.
all in all i think that next year the rams will be back and they will win. especially if they can pick up a little depth for their offensive and defensive lines (we played way to many guys hurt this season) as for martz he is WORLDS better this year than last year and i can only expect more improvement on BOTH sides of the ball. lovie smith is an awesome d-coordinator and with some depth he will rule the field

oh and as to why faulk only touched the ball 21 times is because i think he was being spied by at LEAST two defenders-- he touched the ball and guys were on the ground tripping him......

Eh, Faulk has one eye on him by every defender in the game every game he plays. He gets 5 yards by mistake. The Pats didnt have the defensive speed to stop him.
Now to respond to your previous post.
#1 - Warner is nowhere near the best qb in the game. Numbers aren't everything. Look at Troy Aikman, he was a much better qb than his numbers stated. I thought he was a bit overrated as well, but Warner's a poor man's Aikman with the green light to throw and more weapons at his disposal. "Mr. Accuracy" rarely has to make a tough throw, every time I see him complete a pass it's because his wide receivers are wide open. Put him on Green Bay, a team with one of the worst wide receivers corps in the league, and he couldnt do half the things Favre has done.
#2 - I'll admit, Martz is a darn good offensive coordinator. The best ever? I dont know about that, but he is good. That said, he can be a stupid coach sometimes. Who's the best player on the Rams? Marshall Faulk. Why did the Rams win in Philadelphia? Marshall Faulk. And Philly's D was better suited to stop Faulk then New England's.
All that said, I wouldnt put it past the Rams to go back to the Super Bowl next year. Although McNabb will be one year better which will make the Eagles that much scarier. But as long as the Rams keep Faulk, Bruce, and Holt together and their defense plays ok, they can make it back any year. Regardless of who's at QB. Well... except maybe Ryan Leaf.

wow im stunned you can sit here and rail on warner-- you think TrINT Green could run things better? nope-- warner is the perfect QB for this team. Yeah McNabb is good, but he lacks the long ball and accuracy that warner has (despite his awesome runing ability-- this guy could be a great tailback if he wanted) Garcia is good but hes not as good as Warner or McNabb, and after those guys the level drops off (no offense to Farve fans-- he was AWESOME in his day but seems to have lost a step-- at least playing the rams he did)
me and most of the sports writers in america disagree with you about Warner....
and the rams have roughly 3 more years before most of their players are free agents/contracts are up
the three free agents this year are Sackmaster Leonard Little, a should have made the pro-bowler middle linebacker London Fletcher, and Mr. Fumbleitis Az Zahir Hakim
something tells me the rams will EASILY sign the first two
az helped his chances with a strong performance on sunday but something tells me the draft picks we would get from KC might be worth more than he is-- Yo Murphy stepped in and looked great and we have a couple of guys on the practice squad looking pretty good-- would probably be starters on any other team

FastestManAlive: Stop your whining. Your team lost.
>>somewhere in the middle compare the difficulty of schedule
Yes, the Pats did have a rather easy schedule, but then again so did the Rams. All playoff teams tend to have easy schedules because they don't have to play themselves.
>>and route to the big game
Pats beat the #3 seed in the AFC in a blizzard.
Pats beat the #1 seed in the AFC on the road.
Pats beat the #1 seed in the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Rams beat the #4 seed in the NFC at home.
Rams beat the #3 seed in the NFC at home.
Rams lost to the #2 seed in the AFC in the Super Bowl.
What I see is that the Pats beat the AFC West Champs, the AFC Central Champs, and the NFC West Champs. They beat 3 division champions. The Rams beat one. End of argument.
>>and end with the fact that there should have been time left on the clock after that final FG
The FOX clock isn't the official clock.
I do agree with you on Kurt Warner though. He is the best QB in the game right now. Which makes our victory even better :D
Now that thats over, I'd just like to say how happy I am that I was able to witness the greatest moment in Boston sports history. Nothing will top the Pat's first NFL championship ever but the holy grail. I'm sure you all know what that is, and yep, its a long way off :(

This will be a nice thing to help tide us over for the next 100 or so years till that happens though.
