For starters! :D Or, at least let BET have the Censored 11 for this month. Stranger things have happened.

And do you think BET would run the Censored 11 before or after its Amos 'n' Andy Marathon?
I could see a station running *maybe* Coal Black because it used an all black cast, but I don't know about the other ones.

BET certainly wouldn't run any of the Censored 11 without putting some sort of long explanation before and after them, so that anyone tuning in wouldn't think David Duke or someone like him had seized the natwork's uplink site when "Angel Puss" flickered onto their screens.
(And besidees, BET is part-owned by Viacom, so you'd be more likely to see a censored pre-1950 Paramount cartoon on there. They don't have to pay for that...)

I really think CN should show the Censored 11 cartoons. They could show them late at night and present them in historical context. If people are offended by something, then they don't have to watch it. It is as simple as that.

CN would never show such a special like that(even though I'm in favor of it) since they are too scared show these cartoons at any given time.Let's just see how "June Bugs" will be like this year and will they finally show the complete history of Bugs? stay tuned for that one.

I have seen TNT show "Green Pastures" the all black classic version of Heaven and the Bible... And it features none other than Eddie "Rochester" Anderson as Noah, plus has a host of other fine black actors. Sooooo if TNT can show "Green Pastures" then why couldn't CN or BET give us a late-night showing of the Censored 11 and throw in the MGM Boskos , and "Romeo In Rhythm" to boot...???
This essentially amounts to a blacklist of cartoons featuring Blacks, and that is inherently more racist than anything I can imagine...

I taped Green Pastures and King Vidor's Hallelujah off TNT back in the early 90's.
Also a few of the "Colored Radio" shorts with the Nicholas Brothers.
All were indeed run as part of a "Black History Month" tribute to black performers.
Ironic, isn't it?

Two reasons for the distinction: One, there is the (mistaken) impression that cartoons are for children and two, there is a diffeence between actors or musicians in live-action and caricatures of them in cartoons. Bing Crosby was not pleased when he was done, which I suspect made animators use him more, not less. People look at animation differently.

I could see someone running "Green Pastures" using the "Clean Pastures" cartoon as filler afterwards...but not without an explanation, that's for sure. I agree, the 'censored eleven' cartoons should be given some kind of documentary treatment...or Warners should release them on a video. I strongly agree with them being made available, and Warner Bros. needs to understand that context is everything...sure, you're going to get in trouble if you just stick that in "The Looney Tunes Show" one morning, but a video with a disclaimer or better yet, documentary surrounding them, is a good idea.

MRRRAAOOWW!!! Put those claws back in!
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised in the least. I remember them once showing a "Blackula" movie. Blaxploitation if ever there was.

In my opinion, if CN wanted to celebrate Afr.-Am. History month in cartoons, here are a few suggestions:
1) September In The Rain--in its entirety!!
2) Swing Social--saw the cartoon online, but would like to see a much better print!
3) Any Tom and Jerry cartoon with Mammy Two-Shoes in its ORIGINAL voice!!
4) Jungle Jitters--even if it is that bad of a cartoon.
5) The Isle of Pingo-Pongo--never seen that cartoon. Would be nice to see for once.
Any other suggestions?

Just my opinion-
I don't think some of the truly offensive toons are something black people would like to "celebrate" as part of their history :)
HOWEVER
I still think the censored 11 should be made available in some form, whether it's DVD, late night broadcast with commentary, ect. I doubt it will happen on CN though given their tendancy to place WARNING NOONE UNDER 17 SHOULD WATCH THIS before and after ever commercial of a PG rated show that used to air on the WB at 8(adult swim)

I have to agree with Geezil and Red Hot Ryder. While I think that everyone here would love to see those toons on T.V., realistically it wouldn't happen as any kind of celebration (unless maybe if they added at least some explanation as J. Lee suggests, but that's a very long shot)
In regards to un-PC toons showing up on CN, the network still has to learn how to crawl before it can walk. :( Once they manage to add the least offensive stuff like the Mammy & Speedy cartoons, I'll start hoping that we might some day get to see something like Coal Black or All This And Rabbit Stew. But that's a long way off...
