This new 3 DVD set contains 75 theatrical cartoons uncut and restored from Universal master negatives. Included is the first 45 classic Woody Woodpecker shorts presented in original release order, the first 5 Chilly Willy shorts plus Andy Panda, Swing Symphonies, Oswald Rabbit, Wartime shorts and much more. The set will retail at $39.98. Release date is July 24th.

I hope everybody who loves classic cartoons buys a copy of this set and help encourage Universal to continue releasing the Walter Lantz material. This set sounds like it will be amazing (and at a GREAT price for 75 restored cartoons + bonus material!). If you haven't seen these cartoons before, you will be in for a treat!!

Anybody knw about some episode where Woody calls out to someone "Oh YUNYER!" or something like that? When I was a kid, other kids were always talking about it, and I was never able to catch it. It's been bugging me all these ages.

Are there any plans to release the other Woody Woodpecker cartoons to DVD?

Besides it took a year for the second set to come out. If they're going to do another set they'll probably wait another year to put it out.

OUCH! I responded to this post thinking it was going to be re-released on Blu-Ray and DVD this year, as part of Universal's 100th anniversary. Woody and his friends are just as much a part of the film studio's heritage as any of their other classics, even the "Universal Monsters."

Some sort of commemorative re-release is in order...
