This is a "longshot" idea at best, but.. If there were ever a villain-centric DTV project, what villain would you want to focus on, and why?
What type of story should it tell?
sample popular archvillains: Magneto, Loki, Venom, Apocalypse, Red Skull, Kingpin, Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Mephisto, Thanos, Mandarin...

I'd choose Magneto or Venom.I would like to see Magneto in his own DTV as he has an extremely interesting background story.

How I'd do it? I'd do it like from inside the Vault, like the villain(s) telling their origin, rise and fall through flashbacks and such. I'd probably focus on a couple of characters who have one of those "grip you by the face" backstories full of tragedy or loathing: Venom, MAgneto, Lizard (if they ever decided to lock him up) and a few others.

I wouldn't call it a longshot. Both Elektra and Punisher got live action movies, and they're bad guys. I can see a DTV. Venom would make sense along those lines.
Dr. Doom would be pretty cool, and it'd be bold of them if they tried to tackle Kang. The only thing is, if you're going to have a villain and not an anti-hero, he'll be fighting a hero, and thus, you have to make sure the hero doesn't overshadow the villain.

Seeing as how Venom would be everyone's most popular choice, more likely than not, I'd rather see Loki with a DTV. He is, after all, Thor's stepbrother and if done right, I think it'd make for a good DTV. How I would go about making it, well... that's kind of tough right off the top of my head. But for a rough draft, I'd go into detail about how his race was killed off by Odin and Odin's warriors. How Laufey, Loki's father, was slain and then travel into how he and Thor would grow to become 'brothers' and all that jazz. Explore their extreme dislike for one another and pretty much go about it like that.
Basically nothing fancy, nothing unbearably long and boring. Just to show how he earned his reputation as the God of Mischief and obviously end it with a final battle between good vs evil, Loki vs Thor.
I do, however, think a Loki DTV would be the best choice out of the ones listed above seeing as how he is not very well known amongst the younger community as opposed to Thor. I would choose Loki 'cause Magneto has his own film coming out in 2008, rumors have said and he already has enough popularity on his shoulders. Venom... he has the biggest fandom out of all of these villains listed here and then some. Many of the others have been included in previous films so.... yeah, just my take on why I think Loki would make for a good DTV.

I think Doctor Doom would be the best choice. He's widely known and has a deep background compared to most villains. He's been voted the most popular/best comic book super-villain many times in various magazine polls, too.
Doom's been teamed-up with both villains and heroes with great success. One of my all-time favorites was the graphic novel with Doom and Dr. Strange.

I think Magneto, Kingpin, Venom and Galactus would all make interesting villian-centric movies. All of them are compelling characters with either great visuals or back stories (or both) and that could really sell a DTV. I think Magneto especially could hold his own since he doesn't need to work off the X-Men at all.

I'd prefer one about Mystique, she's one of the most interesting villians and I think we don't know that much about her past.

Electro, Pyro, or Toad (The X-Men character).

Dr. Doom of course.
Magneto's getting his own live action movie.
Punisher is a good guy. That's right, you heard me.
Kingpin couldn't carry one.
Venom sucks.
