View Full Version : The Next TMNT Movies: What Do You Want?

If they want to make this the best it can be and blow us all away... in the second movie I want the return of the Shredder and a final showdown that comes through with that Super Shredder vs. Turtles fight we thought we were gonna see in the second live-action film.
And in the third movie.... I want "The Rise of the Technodrome."
What do you want and what do you think you'll end up seeing?

Live action is out of question, I guess. :)
But I'd like to see Baxter Stockman and his Mousers get their time in the spotlight on the big screen.
I'd rather not see the Technodrome, though.

The Technodrome is the Death Star of the TMNT mythos... why wouldn't you want that in there?

Was it even in the original comics? When I think of the Technodrome, I think of "1980s goofy TMNT." I like the more serious side of TMNT (like the newer series), and so the Technodrome--at least to me--would just see out of place in a non-comedic take.

If they go for a "trilogy", I'd like them to adapt the "Turtles in Space"/"Fugitoid" story arc for movie two, and close out with the "Return to New York" arc. Give the Shredder a slow burn to build the suspense and blow us away. Also, the Tecnodrome would just be hokey. In this incarnation, the Shredder isn't some goofy Darth Vader clone, but the head of a criminal empire. Besides, his tower in the 2k3 series seems far more impressive than the Tecnodrome. I mean, the guy's got a room with elemental mystics hanging out!

Yeah Stockman and the Mousers but as a sub plot, with a worm clone of the Shredder being the main plot. Can't go wrong with worm clones.

I know what I don't want to see:
- The Technodrome and just about anything from the '80's series. It was fun at the time, and still is now, but it just shouldn't mix with the feel of TMNT. However, they can still love pizza.
- Direct references to the abysmal second and thrid movies. Let fans like myself have the option to ignore them, like in TMNT. The references in the trophy room were enough.
I do know some things I want to see too:
- Baxter Stockman.
- More Mikey and Don. While Leo and Raph are my favorites, I'd like to see Mikey and Don get some more time.
- City at War should be adapted somehow.
- "Worm clone" Shredder.
- Agent Bishop.
- But most important of all... a longer run time.

I'd like to see Baxter, not sure about the mousers though. They're iconic, but they're also non-threats. And the 2k3 cartoon redid the mouser storyline fairly well, so I'd like to see something different.
shredder needs to be in the next film, along with whatever relationship he has with karai. we break away from the 'same old' so that it feels fresh when we return to it.

I'll just copy what I posted in the TMNT movie thread.
I think the next movie (if made) will be sort of a "City at War" situation. Which would bring Baxter in quite nicely. The Shredder would obviously be revived but I don't think he'd be the focus of the movie. They'd tease us with him but depending on how well TMNT does overall they might try for another triliogy out of that movie. If they cut to the chase we'll see Leo fight Shredder one on one no doubt and chances are he'll decaptitate him in splended fasion (they say if they get a sequel it will probably be PG-13).
If they could do 2 more movies beyond this one then they could set it up for the second movie to be really good but leave you wanting more and leaving something to tie up (definently leaving the Shredder alive for a final confrontation in the 3rd movie er... 6th movie... wow this is starting to sound like Star Wars :D). They introduce Baxter as I said and have the city at war scenario bringing in the mob, the foot, and other problems along with Baxter and his criminal genius. All the while the Shredder is near living again but you don't see him until the end of the movie. Then something big happens. I'd be as crazy or cruel (depending on how you look at it) to say Shredder might kill Splinter which of course makes all the turtles angry but no more so than Leonardo (and then we get emo Leo... shell yeah).
In the third movie it comes down to this. Leo feels its time for the turtles to finally take out the foot once and for all and of course defeat the Shredder. He's fueled by rage obvioiusly for the death of Splinter and feels revenge is the only way to honor his master and also the only way to end their long battle with the foot. Baxter would be back, most likely in cyborg form of some kind (as he did that in the new show and the comics though for different reasons). And then we finally get the turtles killing Shredder for the final time.
It'd be nice to bring in Utroms and Triceritons. Perhaps they could do that for DTV's based on the time line in the future. Adding Bishop would also just plain own. But I think that would complicate the movies a bit too much honestly. The people demand the definitive fight with the Foot Clan and Shredder and I imagine that's exactly what Munroe, Laird, and Gray intend to do with any sequel TMNT can get into theatres.

I'll just chime in and second much of what has already been said.....
-"Worm clone" Shredder is a must! That was one of the most unique ways of "bringing the villain back from the dead" that I've ever seen. It needs to be incorporated into the movie continuity.
-Something based on "City at War". Can't go wrong with that.
-Baxter Stockman (and cyborg Baxter in a later sequel).
-More Don and Mike. Or Mike and Don if you prefer.
-Indeed, no direct references to movies 2 or 3 (unless the Utroms are brought into the picture).... but at the same time don't contradict them.
-Actually, get Utroms in there so we can get the Turtles correct origin into the movie continuity. Triceratons to if possible.
-Above all else, live up to that PG-13 rating. It's time to put the kiddies to bed.

Me would like to see:
Second Movie
Baxter Stockmen, the bad guy, creates mousers for profit, and hires the Foot for his personal interest. Mousers ruin the Turtle's home, and they jave to go find a new one. They also find out that Karai is Shredder's daughter. They decide to take down Baxter, because he almost cost the Turtles's lives includin' Splinter. They make April and Casey go work for his company, and get the blueprints for his building. When the TMNT gang beats up the Foot Ninja, few mousers, and the Giant Mouser, they meet Baxter Stockmen for the first and last time. Baxter unleashes monsterous creatures that resembeles-like TMNT 2007 monsters. Baxter says that he obtain one of the monster's tooth, and decides to clone it. TMNT beats the monster up, and go for Baxter. Baxter wears an armor-like weapon, and faces the gang. They beat him, and his evil plot of whatevers.
Are we the shell there yet?
Third movie
The Turtles meet the Fugitoid, Utroms, Tricertons, and Feddies. Fugitoid crashes on Earth, like Transformers to run away, sent by the Utroms. The Utroms send Fugitoid to escape the evil grasp of Tricerton and the Feddies. Tricertons and Feddies are the bad guys, and decide to invade Earth for this great power. The Turtles and Utroms VS Tricertons vs Feddies for the Fugitoid. The TMNT gang find out how they were made, and how its ties with the utroms. Feddies offers Karai to help them obtain the Fugitoid, for exchange for intergalatic weapons.
Knowing the Truth.
Fourth movie:
Karai, revives the Shredder from Shredder's blood sample + feddie's intergalatic weapons, decide its the perfect time to rule NYC, for her father's arrival. She wants the world to be perfect for him, when he returns to the living. TMNT finds out that their worst nightmare is coming true, and make a plan to stop them. The Foot battles the mob, purple dragons, and the TMNT gang. When the mob, purple dragons, and few of the Foot are defeated, The horrible Shredder awakens to the living world. Shredder beats Splinter. The TMNT gang beats up him. After his so called defeat, he obtains an ooze-like substance that transform him to "Super-Shredder" Karai realizes her wrong doing, and helps the TMNT. TMNT + Karai and Co. V.S. Super-Shredder. Karai moves back to Japan, and TMNT move up ranks to the next higher level.
Mightmares do come true.

Though I think I would like to see something original, like this plot was. More importantly is the character development, let the turtles grow.
Sadly, that may mean killing off Splinter.

A sequal would be nice but if it doesn't happen then oh well.
The movie has made about 41mil in the box office thus far:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=tmntcg.htm
This will be its third weekend. I'm predicting then when all is said and done it'll make total somewhere in the 50mil range.
How long do movies usually last in the theater? If this is TMNT's third weekend, how much longer will it stay?

Depends on the movie and how well it does. I'm still seeing ads for the film during [adult swim] and quite a bit on Comedy Central. I doubt the studio has given up on it, and wants to keep it out a bit longer. It'll probably be out for another two or three weeks.

I am just gonna say this to any one who wants them to bring back Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, the Technodrome, and most of the other things that were unique to the old cartoon and the Archie comics. Peter Laird the co-creator and owner of the turtles does not like any of those things. And he will never have them return outside of a joke reference.

The only thing from the old series that I wouldn't have minded seeing in the new series or the new movies is Slash. I really think if they changed him a bit, he would fit right in.

well, "City At War" would certainly provide enough material for a 90-minute feature but I don't think we need a repeat of Leo v Raph so soon.
I think the next film should scale back on the danger premise. Get back to the running fued w/ the Foot Clan. No monsters, no aliens, no time/dimensional travel of any kind.
I agree that they should bring Baxter Stockman into the fold, along w/ his mousers. The way I see it, Karai enlists Stockman to work on a mysterious biological project. They use the mousers to steal money, jewelry, etc to fence and "legally" purchase the necessary equipment and chemicals required for Stockman to complete the task. To throw the Turtles of her trail, Karai hires Hun and the Purple Dragons to keep the Turtles occupied and distract them from the mouser crime wave. Stockman's experiment is a success, however, the reborn Shredder a la Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus madness, mortally wound Stockman. The Shredder eventually regains his senses and begins plotting his terrible revenge on the Turtles.
The following sequel will be an all-out assualt on the Turtles and their allies. Shades of "The Shredder Strikes Back" introducing the Elite Guard. Baxter, now a cyborg, continues to develop tech for the Clan such as the stealthy Foot Tech Ninjas. The Shredder's first move to send the Purple Dragons after April & Casey. With their friends in danger, the Turtles leave the lair to aid their friends, leaving Master Splinter alone at the lair. Before they can reach their friends, the Turtles are ambushed and chased across the city by Foot Soldiers and Foot Tech ending w/ a battle that spans across Central Park. Weary from their fight, a Foot Archer delivers a message: The Foot has Splinter, April, and Casey held hostage throughout the city...to be executed within the hour. To save their master and friends, the gang must split up. Don goes to rescue April, Mikey is sent to save Casey, while Leo and Raph go to rescue Splinter. Don has to take out more Foot Tech Ninjas and Cyborg Stockman to save April. Mikey & Casey fight their way through Hun and the Dragons. Meanwhile, Leo & Raph have their hands full w/ the Elite. Nearly defeated, the Blade Bros. get a hand when Don and Mikey show up. After a vigorous battle, they defeat the Elite Guard, leaving the TMNT to take on Karai and the Shredder...with Splinter life hanging in the balance. Karai fights valiantly but is slain in battle. The Shredder, in turn, takes Splinters life. Leo snaps and orders his brothers to stand down: he wants to go mano y turtle w/ the Shredder...ending w/ Leo decapitating their hated enemy once and for all.

once the Foot chapter is closed, then they can bring in Bishop and his "MIB"
given all the weirdness going on, Bishop decides to establish a base of operations in NYC. While investigating one of the battlegrounds, Bishop's men discover the battered remains of cyborg Stockman. Bishop orders his tech division to save what they can and reanimate him as he is the only witness to these events. Stockman, now a brain and eyeball, recounts all he has seen to Bishop. Sensing his rage and thurst for revenge, Bishop makes a deal w/ Stockman: in exchange for his intimate knowledge of the Turtles and scientific skill, Bishop's dept. will restore his humanity and provide a new body. Stockman, leary and scorned, agrees...but has an agenda all his own.
Bishop orchestrates a situation that would draw out the Turtles. Once the Turtles appear, Bishop's Black Ops track the gang but are found out. A brief skirmish ensues. The Turtles escape...but not w/o leaving Bishop a gift: a genetic sample of mutated tissue. Bishop greenlights a cloning: Operation: Slash. Meanwhile Bishop and his agents continue recon on the Turtles. Back at the lab, the specimen is successfully cloned from turtle tissue. Bishop decides to unleash Slash on the Turtles, outfitted w/ Shredder-like gauntlets.
A sewer brawl ensues, ending w/ the Turtles defeating Slash. Before they can extract answers from their assailant, Bishop initiates a self-destruct sequence, releasing a tissue-decaying failsafe encoded in Slash's DNA. Dazed and confused, the Turtles lay down their guard...and Bishop pounces. The Turtles take him lightly as he is just one man in a suit and tie. However the weaponless Bishop more than holds his own against the gang. Bishop only wanted to make a point so he cuts the fight short and returns to his base...where he finds the traitorous Stockman took it upon himself to engineer a new host body. Now human again w/ enhancements, he makes short work of Bishops agents and escapes. Bishop, not the naive type, knew Stockman would go rogue so he activates the same tissue decaying failsafe used to destroy Slash...only it's much slower, causing Stockman to suffer for weeks before being retrieved by Agent Bishop. With rumors of a grotesque humanoid scaring cititzens the Turtle go topside and learn the terror is Stockman but rather than engage him directly, the hide in the shadows to follow Bishop to his base. I'm having a little trouble ending this ;pitch but needless to say the Turtles sabotage his base, destroying whatever turtle DNA Bishop possessed.

Things I DON'T want to see in the next movie(s):
Anything from the old toon, that stuff should STAY in the old toon.
Nothing from the 2003/FF series as well...The show is great, as are some of it's original characters, but I don't want that mixed into the movies.
I don't want them to make Karai the Shredder's daughter like they did in the 2003 toon...it was interesting in the cartoon, but I think it should stay there.Things I want to see:
A PG-13 rating
Mikey using his weapon more.
More focus on Mikey and Don (Leo and Raph's drama is over, let them sit on the back-burner for a while like their brothers had to in the last movie)
A "City at War" adaption is a must (I'd say no to a "Return to New York" adaption only because they kinda already did that in the original films...and this movie IS supposed to be a loose sequel to them).
More of Casey/April.

Well, they actually use their weapons in the comics, (Leo and Raph stab plenty of baddies and Foot, which is what they avoid in the cartoons and movies), the TMNT kill a lot of their enemies, there's blood from time to time, and some of the stories, particularly the comic version of "City at War" is quite violent. Although TMNT as a whole is never really that adult, its still fun-filled in the comics, with the exception of the Image series.
Casey and April are also married in the comics and have an adoptive daughter, (who was the offspring of a woman who was impregnated by a mob boss), named Shadow.

couldn't agree any more. One of my favourite quotes from the original Mirage comics came from Leo:
"Yes, we can bleed... and so can you." (or something like that)
The Image volume of TMNT was probably the most greusome, especially in terms of brutalizing the Turtles in lasting ways:
- Raphael getting shot in the face, resulting in his use of an eye patch.
- Donatello getting shot repeatedly and thrown out of a helicopter, forcing him to merge with a cyborg.
- Leonardo getting his hand bitten off by King Komodo
i wouldn't want the TMNT to venture into something THAT extreme... though i would want to see a more driven, take-no-prisoners mentality in the Turtles. The Leo vs. Raph fight was a step in the right direction.
I wouldn't say the original Mirage comics were "mature"... they were definitely fun, but they also had a darker edge that was completely absent in the '80s toon.
Considering that parts of the "Raphael" & "Leonardo" specials and the "Return to New York" storylines were loosely interpreted in the first movie, I doubt we'll see anything further from them. Though I have to admit, I'd like to see the drawn out duel between Leonardo and Oruku Saki.

Well TMNT finally broke 50mil total as of last weekend:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=tmntcg.htm
The movie could possibly reach 60mil when all is said and done but with the declining sales now I don't think it will.
Still, 50mil in the box office is nothing to sneeze at for a movie that had a 34mil budget. Not as good as it could (and should) have done but I'm sure we can call it a successful movie.

I want Krang. I just want Krang. Bebop and Rocksteady would be fine, Fly Baxter would be dandy, but Krang would really bring it home and make it feel like oldschool Ninja Turtles, and he could technically be a super badass villain; they could redesign his robot to look like anything they wanted, but as long as he still had the same attitude it could be awesome.
