More about the Blondie comic strip: Did you notice the Mr. Dithers "BUMSTEAD! WAKE UP!" situations when Dagwood's sleeping on the job? For example: A recent Blondie strip had Mr. Dithers wake up Dagwood from his nap and Dithers told Dagwood "Stop sleeping and start thinking of ways to earn more money!" But...Dagwood goes back to sleep with dollar signs in his dream ($$$$$$$).

Um, a pretty standard gag for "Blondie" (and an excuse for Dithers to yell at Dagwood/kick him in the butt/do something that'd break any modern labor law passed since the Depression...). (Shrug)

Seriously, Dithers is right to be mad at Bumstead. Sleeping on the job is very irresponsible. He should have fired his lazy ass years ago.

What do you mean "fired his lazy behind"?

Dagwood is obviously an unproductive employee. Dithers would be right to let him go.

Besides Dagwood falling asleep on the job, do you think this inspired for the Peanuts comic strip in the 1970's to 1990's where Peppermint Patty falls asleep in class and is waken up by her schoolteacher?

No. That's just something kids do. I used to do it all the time.

I'm... really not getting why you created this thread. Yes, "Blondie" often uses the same gags over and over. So do most comic strips. What's your point?
