Fans of 30 Rock can rest easy: the show has been renewed for the 2007-08 season.

Even though the Tina Fey/Alec Baldwin/Tracy Morgan show is on NBC's "Comedy Done Right" Thursday lineup and has picked up viewer and critic steam since a so-so start, it was still iffy as to whether or not the show would actually be renewed for a second season. I'm not really sure why it was iffy, because I always thought the show would be renewed, especially since the show moved to Thursdays and people started talking about it more. I just wish Rachel Dratch was given more to do on the show.

The show returns tomorrow with one of those "supersized" episodes.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Although it was all but assumed considering NBC has been featuring the show prominently in all their conferences as of late. I forget what it was for exactly - but I read an article lately where NBC made the comment that a couple of their shows (notably 30 Rock) weren't the successes they were hoping, but felt that they could be the next Cheers and Seinfeld if given time to find an audience; which practically assured they'd renew it.

Glad it's official though! More fun Fey insanity!

This is GREAT news. Baldwin is classic.

Reuters is now reportingt that, in the wake of his phone message to his daughter, Baldwin had asked NBC to be released from his 30 Rock contract.

He said that while taping an interview to be shown on Friday's edition of The View, but CNN Headline News got wind of it and reported it.

A source confirms that Baldwin did make the remarks for The View but that any ideas of getting out of his contract early have long since passed.

If he does opt out, then the show I guess will be gone after next season. Alec is the main reason why 30 Rock is successful and he really should win an Emmy this year.

Perhaps a backup option would be to have Will Arnett's character be the replacement for Jack. But that depends on Arnett's busy movie schedule.

I think "30 Rock" is one of the smartest, funniest shows on tv. I am expecting it to be cancelled because it's so good and tv networks usually don't reward quality - "Arrested Development" anybody?

Yes- AD is the best example of this. Is Baldwin doing one more season?
