Has anyone seen the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series by Peter Laird? How is it? I would have loved to pick up the recent first issue, but I don't know of any nearby comic book stores, and the book stores around me don't carry many comics.

I got the first issue, and it was pretty good. And also a pretty good deal, because even though it's $2.95 there's actually 32 pages of story.

It's based 15 years after they first started out, and it's been a nice action story. It seems, tho, that they've ignored the Image series (not that I mind, because we really don't need to see Ralph with half a face, Mike with a robotic hand and Don as a cyborg anymore.

15 years since their origin or 15 years since the first 15 years?

If it's set 15 years after they started, why is "teenage" still in the title?

I think that is when most all of the TMNT storylines started anyways.

One of the first things the turtles say is that they've been doing the crime fighting thing for 15 years. And, April is definately older in this book.

I really enjoyed it, too. I think that any fan of the old TMNT would highly enjoy this book.

And the next issue is due sometime this month. It's a bimonthly book, the first issue was in December. Can't wait for the next one.

I can't even begin to imagine 30+ year old turtles. Although I can imagine mid-life crisis turtles and their respective toylines: Tattooed Leonardo, Michelangelo with a platinum grill, Raphael with shell-rings, and studded leather jacket Donatello. Then there's grey-haired, wrinkled Shredder.
