Since I don't get AS in the dorms anymore, what did they do?

Since I don't get AS in the dorms anymore, what did they do?

They played the first 5 minutes of the ATHF movie then changed the screen to Futurama while keeping the movie playing in a 1 X 1" screen in a bottom corner!

Since I don't get AS in the dorms anymore, what did they do?

Last night, they replaced Bleach, all the anime after it, and repeats witha Perfect Hair Forever marathon. Tonight they show th Aqua Teen Movie... or the first minute until it's scrunched down to bottom left corner to show the usual programming.

Since I don't get AS in the dorms anymore, what did they do?

They aired the first 5 mins of the ATHF movie, but are now showing the regular lineup with the movie playing in the left lower corner, like an inch wide and 1/2 inch tall. No sound either.

On Saturday: A Perfect Hair Forever marathon starting at midnight, but with the added twist of making them look like 3rd-generation VHS tapes with horrible subtitles (One, I believe, was a transcript of the 2nd Mooninites ATHF episode). The bumps were "fanservice moment" shows (4 from FLCL, 2 from PHF). Considering all the OTHER fanservice shots AS has access to, they're presentation was limited.

Sunday night: AS played the first few minutes of the ATHF Movie (The Aqua Teens fighting the giant poodle with laser eyes), then shrunk it down to a corner of the screen, so it only took up about 5% of the screen, as normal programming continued playing.

Anime got screwed over on Saturday with the PHF sub marathon, and on Sunday, comedy got the treatment.

AS did keep its word to play the entire ATHF movie. So what if it was only on a one-square-inch screen with no sound. And so what if the giant pop-up movie ads covered half the screen. AS was an equal-opportunity dickwad for April Fools. Now, what will the ratings be next week? (^_*)

All that was shown was ATHF on Sunday with 634K. I guess that means it was a pretty normal Sunday (FG in first, Chicken in 2nd) if the trend holds true.

No word on Saturday though.

I'm man enough to admit when I've been jested. Here I tape Bleach while I'm gone, naively thinking nothing out of the ordinary will take place. I get back, and I find Perfect Hair Forever in its place. You got me, AS, you really got me.

Now air it next week for real.

Adult Swim Posts Largest Quarterly Total Day Delivery in Basic Cable History with Adults 18-34, 18-24 and Men 18-34, Men 18-24

Adult Swim’s Delivered More Adults 18-34 than the PRIME TIME Performance of ESPN, Nick-at-Nite, FX, Comedy Central, VH1, Discovery, Spike, Sci-Fi and 57 other Cable Networks

Late-Night Network Also Ranks #1 in March 2007 for Total Day Delivery of Adults 18-49

Washing away all former quarterly delivery records among young adults, Adult Swim scored the largest quarterly total day delivery in ad-supported basic cable history among adults 18-34, adults 18-24, men 18-34 and men 18-24, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. Since becoming an individually-rated network in second quarter ’05, the late-night network has ranked #1 in total day delivery of adults 18-34 for seven of the last eight quarters, #1 among men 18-34 for six of the last eight quarters, and #1 among adults 18-24 and men 18-24 across all eight quarters. Also noteworthy, this marks the first quarter Nielsen Media Research has measured “extended home viewing”—i.e. college dorms and off-campus housing.

Compared to its basic cable competition across first quarter ‘07, Adult Swim’s total programming day (10:30 p.m.-6 a.m.) has delivered more adults 18-34 than the prime time performance of ESPN, Nick-at-Nite, FX, Comedy Central, VH1, Discovery, Spike, Sci-Fi and 57 other networks. Adult Swim’s success has also spilt over into the adults 18-49 demographic, ranking #1 in March 2007 for total day delivery of adults 18-49 (603,00, up 22% vs. March ’06) )among all ad-supported basic cable.

Highlights of Adult Swim’s overall first quarter 2007 performance—charting double-digit gains across the board—include the following:

ADULT SWIM (Monday-Thursday, 10:30 p.m.-6 a.m.; Saturday, 11 p.m.-6 a.m., Sunday, 10 p.m.-6 a.m.) in First Quarter 2007 vs. First Quarter 2006:

* Adults 18-34 delivery (437,000—new basic cable quarterly record) increased by 23%, and ratings (0.7) by 40%
* Adults 18-24 delivery (264,000—new basic cable quarterly record) improved by 28%, and ratings (0.9) by 29%
* Adults 18-49 delivery (561,000) grew by 21%, and ratings (0.4) were unchanged
* Men 18-34 delivery (272,000—new basic cable quarterly record) expanded by 21%, and ratings (0.8) by 14%
* Men 18-24 delivery (164,000—new basic cable quarterly record) jumped by 18%, and ratings (1.1) by 10%

Among Adult Swim’s programming highlights, the March 20 telecast of Family Guy (11:30 p.m.) charted as the network’s most-watched telecast ever (941,000) among men 18-34.

Those shows get the best ratings, but there's still many shows on Sunday and weeknights that score well over the weekly average, so they're helping the ratings too.

Before I get into tonight, I forgot to say this yesterday:

Inuyasha: "Don't you have more than one attack!? Show some variety!"

MuttBoy then proceeds to use the Wind Scar. Way to practice what you preach. At least the anime kinda sorta diversified Fluffy's moveset by giving him that laser whip-thingy (too bad the anime dropped it soon after, and also too bad RT never adapted it for the manga).

As for tonight:

In GitS, I keep meaning to ask this, but keep forgetting: Is the guy that kills Serano the blackmail guy Aoi was talking about?

Speaking of Aoi, I really hope that if a 3rd GIG is made, he appears again, even if it's in a Stand Alone-type episode.

As for InuYasha, it's amazing how badass Fluffy is even weakened.

I always felt like the final episode of GITS:SAC was a bit of a let-down after everything that happened in the previous episode. I mean -
Episode 25:Everybody's on the run, Batou almost dies, Tachikomas sacrifice themselves, the Major gets shot in the head
Episode 26:Togusa's chillin' at home, and then everybody talks some
I know it was necessary for wrapping everything up, but it still just didn't have the impact of episode 25.

The body the Major used was a remote puppet (like the teenage body she used last episode), hence why it lacked the watch. She went floating on the Internet for a while until she returned to the body which got damaged by the Armored Suit a few episodes ago (with a quick-fix arm). Obviously, she got a new body before the little epilogue.

Ah. As much as I like GITS, I've always had a fair bit of trouble following the series, to be honest. I miss episodes or I don't pay enough attention to one and miss some dialogue and then I get lost on certain plot points.

Well, what else do you expect them to play? No reason to start 2nd GIG since a) Shin-chan's starting Monday and b) it'll be replacing Eureka Seven after that series finishes. Not like this is the first time AS has done this. They've done with FMA and Inuyasha too.

That I did not know, and makes much morse sense. I guess I'll wait untill GITS 2 takes the place of something else on the schedule. (Inu can't last forever).

Incidentally, tomorrow's "Extreme Home Makeover" will feature a friend of mine's family. There's good chance I'll be in some of the background crowd shots. Oh yeah, so long as you don't fraud them, you won't end up like grandpa, they really did a tremendous thing here.
