View Full Version : Superman and Supergirl...An Item?

Bear with me on this, guys. Much has been made about Batman's and Batgirl's tryst before Batman Beyond--I just want to explore the other side of the fence.

Could a relationship start between Superman and Supergirl? It seems unlikely--Superman has Lois...kind of. But what if something was to happen to Lois Lane? Larry Niven's Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex aside: her absence in Justice League speaks volumes about their present relationship (don't just say that it's because Lois hasn't been written into the series; that's beside the point).

Second, she's a bit young for him. This will change. Another thing to consider is that, unlike most of her comic book incarnations, she isn't related to Superman anymore. They're from different families--different planets even. It would no longer be "against nature" for them to hook up.

Would it be a good idea? Probably not, but it would have been cool to play off of that in the series. What if Kara had lived with Clark instead of the Kents in the series? How would he have explained to Lois why there was suddenly an underage girl living with him? This almost makes Kara living with the Kents a cop-out.

In the end it wouldn't have worked--he's too much of a big brother to him--but it would have been an interesting plot point.

Umm...cousins.

I'm assuming that The Guard's reply means that they are cousins (I don't know all that much of the background between the two of them). If they truly are cousins, well, yeah, that would be pretty awkward. Imagining that they aren't though, it would be pretty interesting to have them start their own little Super-Family.

i thought "cousins" was just the perjorative they were using to describe their relationship to people who didnt know they were supes/superg

afaik in TAS there was no relation......

In TAS at least, they're not actually related, the "cousins" thing is just an outside explination. Neither of their last names is really "Kent". But....

For some reason that still doesn't bode well.

First of all, it's illegal. She's only sixteen, and he's like, what, thirty?

Second of all, people think they are related, so that seems a little queer-thing. I mean, i know they live on a farm and all, but dating your cousin is weird.

I think Supergirl should be interested guys her own age like... Me :D

No, I'm pretty sure they are cousins. I think STAS touched on it.

I dont know much on this, but I think it was in the comics where Supergirl was Superman's cousin. In STAS, Supergirl was a sole survivor that Superman found on a sister planet of Krypton's.

Yeah, well, I guess technically they're cousins, since she was on a sister planet in the cartoon. Also, even though kara is 16, isn't she actually older? Because in the cartoon when she was frozen, she was 16 to begin with, and Clark was like 6, if even that old. So again, technically, she is the older one, lol. Still, if he didn't go for Lois, for some bizarre reason, I think that Lana would be next in line and not Kara.

Well, just because she was on a sister planet doesn't mean they're cousins. It's not like everyone on Krypton had one mom and Krypton mom's sister was the mom of everyone that lived on Supergirl's planet. Although that would be freaky. In STAS, I highly doubt that they were related. Either way I'd agree with you BG in that I dont think Superman would get with Supergirl. I think he sees her as his little sister.

Yeah no offense but that does seem a bit gross. I've always seen the big brother kind of thing goin. I mean they do have the same adoptive parents and all.

As for Lois not being in JL, well thats what WW is for. ;)

THAT'S funny!

But let's help out Karkull and clear up a few things on this thread.

Are they cousins in STAS? No.

Kara is from the planet Argo in Krypton's solar system. (Superman is only related to Kara as much as Batman is related to J'onn J'onzz.)

While it's not out of the question that the populations of those two worlds interacted and may have even shared bloodlines, if that's the case it was never brought up in the show.

Is Supergirl really half Clark's age? That one's a little harder to call.

It was revealed in "Little Girl Lost part 1" that some of the population of Argo survived for a few years after the destruction of Krypton. (I don't remember if an exact timeframe was mentioned.) So Kara MIGHT have already been as old as a teenager when Kal-El was sent to Earth. OR she might not have been born until 15 or 16 years afterwards and was in suspended animation for only a short time when Superman discovered her. At any rate, she is biologically and mentally only 16, even though her true age is probably older.
