I was wondering yesterday, What If Vesper did this??
What if she planned her whole death scene? Why you ask?
Well obviously she found out that Bruce was Batman. And was obviously hurt by wasting her time loving him. Then he dumps her one last time. Some how she finds out his secret. And Plots against him. Obvioulsy neeind the help of someone else to commit the murder.
Actually I just thought of somehting else, whatever the case may be, I BET, that before Vesper died she knew Batman's true Identity, no matter who the killer was. I bet she had that knowledge.

...Which was probably what did her in...
If you think about it, every huge story-arc DC's has written was done in order to bring Batman up agaist something he's never really faced before...being unable to be Batman, or even walk in Knightfall...then trying to deal with a completely ravaged Gotham in the earthquake...then whatever no man's land was about...the an entirely Joker-ized DC Universe...(man there have been a lot of giant story-arcs!)...all of these placed him up against a challenge he'd never met in a simple encouter with the Joker or Penguin...
All this to say, I think you're on the right track with your thoughts on Vesper. I'm not certain that she would have planned her own death (and in such a twisted way), mainly because she looked so quiet and sane in that one-panel shot of the 10 Cent Adventure. My suspicions lie with the new bodyguard, Sasha, mainly because she's a new character who the writers could affort to kill of once this is all over. I do think that this will end up being more than another "Ra's tries to mess with Bruce" story because how would that have any lasting effect on Bruce?
Someone Bruce loved is dead and he's been accused of murder - both of these things are (relatively) new to him and occupy the plot of the story...but what could have lasting repercussions on him? Maybe Vesper killed herself, as you suggested...or a trusted comerade, Sasha, had planned the whole thing herself because she was madly in love with him...or perhaps Bruce developped another personality, the one which bought the gun and pulled the trigger on Vesper (nice name!)...Any of these three things would easily alter Batman and Bruce's history forever, which is the point of the series after all...Then again, Knightfall and, from what I've read here, the whole "Joker is dying" story were both only huge stunts, so you never know....
I think that if DC is serious about this, like they were with NML and the Cataclysm, this will play a part in who Batsy is for years to come...so whatever the outcome...expect some psycological tension...

Vesper kill herself? I dunno...it would then seem like a cheap cop-out, like when other girl (who stalked Bruce - Marilyn Corbett or something like that) killed herself becuase Bruce didn't like her. It would seem like a cop out. I'd like this to evolve into a genuine conspiracy with alot of key players behind the scene. And...for some reason...I think Lucius's heart attack may somehow be a factor (or related) in this somehow.

Well, from what I've heard and read in Bob Schreck (Editor) and Greg Rucka interviews, and in Wizard, apparently some kind of decision is going to be made about whether or not to keep the Bruce Wayne identity. And the way they talk, it almost seems like the Bruce identity will be abandoned at least temporarily. So whether is some kind of plot by Ra's Al Ghul, Bane, or Vesper herself it looks like there will be some lasting effect on Bruce,

Forensic experts can usually tell whether it's a case of suicide or murder from looking at the angle of the wound. So if we went through all of this stuff just for something like "Whoops, too bad the forensics experts didn't do their job," I'd be a little disappointed.

Interesting, this would definitly be a better link to a Lex Luthor Plot. It's very corporate.
Or unless your suspecting Lucius? What if Lucius found out?
HEY, what sick Idea. Imagine all the Trouble Batman's life would be. I mean, it's 50-50 depending on one's personality, but he could think of as many reasons for hating Bruce for being the Batman, ans as many reasons to like him even more.
But what if his knowledge of the Truth created pure hatred for him? What if Lucius became Bruce's LEX LUTHOR?
Lucius would be kind of Like Derek Powers. A firm grip on Wayne Enterprises, but now with the secret of Bruce's double life. Lucius probably looked into the company's many missing, incoplete yet very expensive projects, and put 2 and 2 together. Yet at the same time, Lucius can't kick Bruce out of the company, and Batman remains wealthy. He probably had the heart attack after he found out he was Batman.
YOu know what? This could EASILY be all Bane's doing. I hate the obvious. But he probably set this all up. To eliminate Bruce Wayne. He hates Bruce more than Batman.

I doubt it's Ra's or Bane. Ra's has too much respect for Batman to set him up like that, and Bane wouldn't use a gun, let alone miss several times.

That's true he would'nt miss.
But who in Batman's world would?
A Nervous Sasha?

Rucka doesn't seem cheap enough to introduce a character just for the purpose of killing her off. She also seems too mentally stable to kill someone out of jealousy.

Bane just wants to be left alone. He respects Batman, as long as he stays out of his affairs. Ra's absolutely LOATHES Batman right now. He feels Batman is responsible for his daughter abandoning him.
