Good work, JT! You've won an-all expense paid FANTASY vacation to sandy, sexy, sunny Hawaii! When your ready, just start FANTASIZING you're there:)
As for YOUR question, it was ol' Deputy Dawg!
My turn again :
Who invented Woody Woodpecker's maniacal laugh?

Mel Blanc of course! Am I right? If I am, it's my turn! What are the only two Paramount cartoons Katnip didn't appear with Herman and Buzzy?

chuckamuck43
02-03-2002, 03:53 PM
You're right, ThadK! It WAS Mel!
You win a Playmate! An IMAGINARY playmate!
As for your question - I think Herman appeared without Katnip in "Slappily Married". I've no idea about the Buzzy cartoon...:(
Pietro
02-03-2002, 04:51 PM
OK guys, what is the name of the second "Fox and Crow" cartoon released?
-Pietro:D
Thad Komorowski
02-03-2002, 05:19 PM
Well, the answer to Pietro's question is "Woodman Spare That Tree". MY question was asking which cartoons ONLY Katnip appeared in, WITHOUT Herman or Buzzy. The answers were "City Kitty" and "Feast and Furious" (Katnip played opposite "Finny the Goldfish" in this one-shot).
MY NEW QUESTION:
How many 3 Little Pigs cartoons were made, and what were they called?
-Thad
Do-Do
02-03-2002, 08:26 PM
Ooh, I know this one!!
There were four 3 Little Pigs cartoons:
Three Little Pigs, The Three Little Wolves, The Practical Pig, and the wartime short The Thrifty Pig.
If I'm right, my question is:
What was the last Happy Harmony cartoon?
Was it "Pipe Dreams?"
If it was, then here is mine: What non-WB theatrical feature did many WB artists work on right after the studio closed?
Jack

Well, I guess that's sort of right, it was by UPA, but released by Warner brothers. I was actually thinking of "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear!"
...and NUTs, I should have known it wasn't Pipe Dreams :( Do I now have to pay the penalty?

Yes.
You are sentenced to two - no, that's WAY too cruel - one hour of watching Scooby-Doo!
Now go and sin no more.....
Thad or DoDo - one of you guys get to ask the next one, right?

Actually, there was one more --- you forgot "The Big Bad Wolf" (that's the one which also featured Little Red Riding Hood).
Who can answer this one...
What was the name of the Woody Woodpecker cartoon which was released in 3-D?

What were the only two Walter Lantz cartunes where Andy Panda appears with Wally Walrus?

I believe the answer would be: "Dog Tax Dodgers" (featuring Andy, Wally as the dog catcher, and Andy's dog, Dizzy) and "The Woody Woodpecker Polka" (Andy only has a cameo in that one, but I can't think of another).

Yes actually that was "The Egg-Cracker Suite."
Now let's see who can answer this one:
What is the name of a little known Columbia cartoon star of the late 40s? (I'm not thinking of Lil' Anber or Flippy, BTW)

No, I was thinking of someone else.......
Pietro
02-05-2002, 05:32 PM
Yup. That's correct! That's absolutely 100% correct!
Now, see if you can get this one,
what is the name of the first "Fox and Crow" cartoon
and who directed it?
-Pietro:D
The Fox and the Grapes, directed (and produced and written, I believe) by Frank Tashlin.
Here's a spiffy question, what two theatrical cartoons did Paul Julian direct?
Jack :D
Thad Komorowski
02-05-2002, 05:51 PM
The only one I know he directed was UPA's "Baby Boogie". What's the second one Jack?
Here's a question:
Who wrote the script for Paramount's 1951 Noveltoon "Mice Paradise"?
-Thad
According to the Internet Movie Database, he directed a cartoon called "The Hangman" in 1964. Don't know who released it, though.

I believe that Izzy Sparber not only directed "Mice Paradise" but he also wrote the script for it as well.
Now see if you can get this one:
Name all the "Toby the Pup" cartoons that still exist.
-Pietro:D
Thad Komorowski
02-05-2002, 09:01 PM
Actually, Carl Meyer and Jack Mercer wrote the script for "Mice Paradise".
I think only "Toby in the Museum", "Toby the Milkman", "Halloween", and "Down South" are the only ones that exist.
-Thad
Pietro
02-05-2002, 09:27 PM
Well, actually there's one more "Toby" cartoon that exists, it's called "Toby in Circus Time" and the print exists at the UCLA film arcive.
Now what was the name of Betty Boop's boyfriend?
-Pietro:D
Joe Tully

Porky Pig had quite a few pet dogs over the years. Name four of them.

02-06-2002, 02:56 PM
"Rover's Rival" - Rover
"Porky's Hare Hunt" - Zero
"Porky's Party" - Black Fury

Here are some names I caught in "Naughty But Mice":
Hiram
Zeke
Louie
(also as one of Herman's injured cousins crosses Hiram, Zeke, and Louie of the list we see two other names, Elmer and Clem)
------------------------------------------------------
Also, Joe, when I said 'Who is Betty Boop's Boyfriend" I meant Bimbo the Dog.:D

Who was Porky's short-tempered co-star in 1937?

The quizmaster returns with THIS one -
Can you give the name and color of all the members of Top Cat's gang?
I kind of struggled on that one until I remembered Spook.
Top Cat: yellow
Choo Choo: pink
Benny The Ball: blue
Brain: orange/reddish colored
Spook: somewhat greenish?
Fancy Fancy: tan

Oh man... I can't cheat and use the Internet Movie Database (their info for Lantz, Columbia, and Famous shorts kind of stinks).
I *think* one of them was "Helter Shelter". "Legend of Rock-a-Bye Point" was another, I think. And "Square Shootin' Square"? I'm going by memory here... :p

I asked for aliases, which means his other names. You know, usually he walks up to R&B in a costume and says "Hi, my name is ____"
You fill in the blank. :bosko:
P.S. If you're looking for people who worked with Boris, Mr. Big would count too, along with the Light Fingered 5 minus 2, the Metal Munching Moon Mice and the Moon Men who sent him the Mice. Probably some others too.

I don't think so. I can think of at least 4 or 5, and I know that he's used others that I just can't remember the exact names for. If I don't get any answers by tonight I'll post the ones I can think of...I think that someone else must be able to at least think of one or two.
Jon Cooke
02-10-2002, 05:50 PM
I remember-
D.W. Giftter
The Big Cheese
Capt. Horatio Hornswoggle (I don't remember if that was Boris or just a bit player, but it's hard to forget a great name like that)
And I seem to recall Boris as Santa Claus on one occasion.

Joe Tully
02-10-2002, 11:43 PM
Sounds good!
Other ones I can think of:
Pete McMoss (At a loss? Call Pete McMoss!)
Hemlock Solmes (Box-top Mystery)
Alfred Hitchhike (Last Angry Moose, I think)
The Exterminator (Rue Brittania)
Sir Hillary (relative of "Uncle Chumbley")

Also, "Not Ghoulty" reused footage from "Casper Takes A Bow Wow" and "Ghost of the Town" at the beginning, but the rest was new animation.

Extra credit if you can tell us what celebrity this mystery character sounded like...

It's really noticable how Paramount's budget was really going down, and how "Katnip's Big Day" looks like it was produced on a 99 cents budget.

-- "Hobby Horse Laffs" (a man on bus asks to read Dick Tracy in the newspaper)
-- "Elmer's Pet Rabbit" (Elmer sits down with the paper, says he wonders what Dick Twacy is up to)
-- "Knights Must Fall" ("...a new Dick Tracy character: accordion head!")
